Fuckin murdering each other for 40 years over a pair of Stacy Adam's. Sad and pathetic homies. We need to do better then that shit. Respect each other. As you vatos can tell we've become an endangered species and those of us that are left need to game up our youngsters and attempt to steer them away from fucking off their lives over bullshit. We've engaged in the ultimate pissing contest with nothing but losers on all sides. I'd rather see my son in a cap and gown then a fucking dickies suit any day. No matter how fly them shits are creased up. Let's get our shit together gentlemen.

    This is really sad. Instead of living happy lives, they live this miserable existence. But the saddest part is that they volunteer to live a life of paranoia, misery and suffering. I wish for a better life for all these communities.

    • @somekid7
      @somekid7 3 года назад +26

      They "volunteer" cause they got no other role models, no protection and no money. On top of that most gangbangers got family already in the gang so it's really a family business.
      The real issue is that the state and private prisons depend on the profit they make off of the labor of inmates, as well as the guns and drugs they seize. These things don't magically disappear. They're legally sold for profit.
      They're not willing to give up that profit.

    I can agree with what you said. Yes it minimises options and the gang is definitely not an excuse as there are always other alternatives to keep you on the right path, no matter how limited the options may be. Finding a normal job can keep you off the streets, or a local club etc.

      Chicago was considered the capital of racketeering during Prohibition, and was particularly violent due to the rise of organized crime. By the mid-1920s, the city had around 1,300 criminal gangs, including Al Capone's Chicago Outfit and George "Bugs" Moran's North Side Gang. Gangs became richer and bolder due to Prohibition profits from bootlegging, and were able to operate with impunity by paying off politicians and police. Gang violence was so prevalent that the "Tommy" gun was nicknamed the "Chicago Typewriter". The profit motive led to over 400 gang-related murders in Chicago each year, including the infamous Saint Valentine's Day Massacre in 1929, when Capone's men murdered seven of Moran's men.

    Oh, and I was unclear again. If you come from privilege, you have options that give you instant money and status. If you are poor, the options give you one. Furthermore, the chances of getting status and more than minimum wage while flipping burgers is fairly low. That's why gangs are so attractive. I never considered joining a gang because I could study at university and get a job with reasonable money and not be socially marginalised. Without these options, I don't know what I'd have done.
