Your thoughts and feelings for the game echo mine. I wouldn't have even looked at it, if it hadn't been for the free trail, but I was pleasantly surprised. There is fun to be had, especially when teaming up with some random player to take out a larger vessel. But, yes characters and story are pretty poor. I doubt more mechanics will be introduced into the game as its more or less set in stone now. On the fence whether to purchase or not.
I was going to buy the game simply because I loved AC4 Black Flag, but once I saw the $70 price tag I was like, nope... This game will either be on Game Pass or severely discounted within a couple of months.
But this was a really nice review, thank you, liked and subbed.
I would actually argue that the way the game looked in that 2018 gameplay trailer would have been far better received most likely than what we got, there you had actual mostly historically accurate ships with hundreds of cannons duking it out on the high seas while what we got in the end are way worse looking ships that at most have four cannons on each side? How did they manage to fck up such a great formula that Black Flag had, even in its ship combat alone? Idk. I recently played a game called Corsairs Legacy that also recently released, now that is a proper pirate game. Sure the graphics are much worse but for an Indie game it plays better than this in almost every way. It is inspired by Sea Dogs games which are arguably one of the best pirate themed naval games ever made so fans of those games would love it. Imagine if a proper AAA studio went with that idea instead of this embarrassment that we got
ngl... I do wish we could choose our crew like we could before.. I'm a historian.. and I love the pirate era.. so when most of my crew are made off women it kind of makes me chuckle because I know what would happen if there was a woman found on a pirate ship
and yes I know about the few women pirates that were out there.. those were NOT the norm
Do you have any references for the claims made about its development?
Skull and Bones to me is like MacDonalds, its pretty bad when you think about it, but oddly enjoyable time to time.
I had doubts about this game but I enjoyed the beta enough were I decided to buy it and I'm having fun with it
You could have more fun with a cheaper game. Maybe.
AC: Black Flag is a better Pirate game...

I played the game for a few days found it very boring and grindy then lost interest feels more like a job. Just wasn’t having fun..
Story and characters, very weak!
Gameplay, very solid!
Environments, outstanding!
Graphics, completely insane!
Progression, very solid!
Customization, outstanding!
Music, complete immersion!
Overall score, 6 out of 10!

It isn't great, but it also isn't bad. I like the game. it's fun to play while listening to RUclips or a TV show. It's something I can turn off my brain and relax while playing @@mikaelowe8430

boat gameplay looks boring like it's war thunder or something. sea of thieves looked better in terms of immersive boat gameplay. having to manually do everything

The boat gameplay is way more intense than sea of thieves.
Yea so far from the truth the game is really a masterpiece

It's not... I think it feels bigger just because of how long it takes to get from one end to another.
The map isnt tiny in the slightest and I have no clue where you got that from.
