This game has huge "back in my day" vibes. No online, based off a 'popular' cartoon character and 'classic' soundtrack. $40 well saved by watching someone else play it.
That's 20 bucks worth of free entertainment watching a group of people each squander $40. We're makin' bank here. EDIT: I partially take that back. I just watched the first turn and I'm already invested, it's actually quite interesting learning how it works. It... doesn't look terrible. EDIT EDIT: There's only a single board, and there's no online and... why did 2 of them buy it? Chilled is host here, Platy got it on the Switch and is fighting for a refund lmao. Update: geez I think Ray bought it too, why, for the memes?
Chilled there is a whole Garfield hole you can go down. From the anomaly of millions of Garfield phones washing up on European beaches, to the Canadian pizza place that is Garfield themed called “Garfield eats”. Lasagna and pizza that’s shaped like Garfield with a bright orange sauce, served with coffee and orange juice… and only coffee and orange juice. There’s a rabbit hole
I’ve been down that rabbit hole, it’s weird and interesting. The RUclipsr Izzzyzzz has a pretty good video explaining the “Garfield Iceberg” and one on GarfieldEATS. Strange Aeons also did several videos on GarfieldEATS, including one where she actually goes to the restaurant and tries the food.
What's equally as good as Chilled, Ray, Platy and Jeremy playing Mario Party? Chilled, Ray, Platy and Matt playing a sillier party game. Edit: 1:02:14 The Toast minigame is so good man! I laughed a lot!
My pets' social dynamic was literally Garfield Dumb friendly small dog Small grey cat that liked to play Big orange cat that hated both of them and just wanted to lie around, eat _everything_ , and be left alone
I would argue that there's not enough existential ennui for this to be a Garfield game. Garfield is all about... a man struggling with depression trying to make it through each day! :O
The "Chillled VS Platypuss" friendly dichotomy in games is one of my favorite interactions of anything on the internet thus far and I will never get tired of it. Wholesome; yet vengeful and violent on a moments notice. Truly the greatest of youtube culture. 11/10 forever.
This game has some good ideas. Some of the minigames seemed fun and creative. Some seemed way too long, lol. I think the three biggest issues facing this game: 1. Why Garfield???? Going a unique route like Pummel Party probably would have been better 2. No online play is brutal 3. The board needs to be simplified. That was a chaotic mess out there and felt like it was hard to plan anything. I really liked the idea of being able to sabotage/enhance dice rolls after the roll occurs. But they kind of need a better way to let players know what spaces are in play. And I think that would be way easier to communicate if they also resolved problem 3 listed above. This is a great idea though. Also, it was kind of funny to see just how often ties kept happening in the mini-games. You would have figured there'd be enough variance that people wouldn't tie that often, but I feel like there were probably only 10 out of 32 games that had a 4th place, lol
hey, chilled. i just wanted to thank you today. i have really bad anxiety, and ive been dealing with so much shit recently. the 5th anniversary of my moms death is coming up, and thats,, a mess, honestly. but ive been watching your videos for,, 7, 8 years now? and it really helps. you guys have so much fun and its nice to have such a bright light when i go online and need a distraction i know im just one of so many people youve helped, but i really appreciate it, and wanted you to know
Ok but when the hell did Garfield start smiling. His persona was always a grumpy borderline sadistic cat who enjoyed Italian food. Not this hyper happy mascot
You just answered your own question. The instant Garfield became a mascot. Personally, I don't think Garfield is anything more than a bit of newspaper funny. But as usual, once that shit starts going corporate they try and milk it for all it's worth. Like it was mentioned at the very beginning of this, Garfield isn't even remotely relevant.
Gotta say, I remember watching Garfield as a kid. I have a strong memory, and one of the funniest parts of that entire series was when Nermal pissed Garfield off. The amount of mental gymnastics he tried, and the various ways Garfield would attempt to ship him to Abu Dhabi was godlike. I don't care for this series anymore, of course, but that one bit will always hold a special place. If you want an example, just imagine Garfield getting annoyed throughout an entire episode, and then stuffing Nermal into a small cardboard box with tape to the degree that the entire box had tape as a skin. It's gold
I feel like Odie should have a super advantage in that toast minigame because my entire life if toast was to burned for the humans, it went to the dogs. This was what happened with a lot of food that was to burnt for human consumption. We didnt feed them charcoal, we arent cruel. Dogs just arent picky eaters, heck my moms current dog will eat pickles if you let him.
*Garfield discovers the Second Amendment:* And that's how I ended up with this AR-15. Let Odie and Nermal try to screw with me now. They'll find themselves living in an _eternal_ Monday.
lol At the start Chilled didn't know about the Odie shape cat Arlene. Platy brought up the smart/cheap streamer 2 hour refund on games they bought because of a friend ...40 bucks!. Ray and Matt being on Chilled side made a great Platty pile on.
52:30 French person here : no it's not. Well, The Garfield Show happened to be back on TV last year but that's kinda it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ no idea why they thought it was hyped enough to develop a video game, though
No online play but at least that's better than every person having to spend $40, I had some hopes for this game...and it's not that bad, but not sure it's $40 good.
SO.... I USE THE BLUE SNOWBALL. and... absolutely i agree the grain up to 100% and you hear the whole county i live in through my mic. ToT but its the best mic i have ever owned. i do still love it.
I think the "online play" for this game was intended to be Steam Remote Play, as it is a Remote Play Together game. Which is still weird that they didn't include built in online.
There's a huge cult following behind Garfield. There was a theme park featuring the characters (think six flags style). We've inherited a closet full of classic/original memorabilia... clocks, mugs, slippers, toys, etc..., no idea what to do with it.
Only way this video could have been better is if Speedy was in it... Also, I bet if they ever release a bug fix for this game it would come in the form of a paid DLC.
I feel slightly ashamed to say this but with how much I love Garfield I would buy this game. But I'd only buy it if it was cheaper. I may love Garfield but to me this game ain't worth $40. Seriously Garfield and Scooby-Doo were my childhood and even though I'm 21 now I still have a child like reaction when I get a Garfield or Scooby-Doo thing as a present from someone. So yeah if it was cheaper I'd buy it.
Man I love the flavour of oranges. Hate actual oranges though, the texture just puts me off. The last time I tried one I just ended up sucking all the juice out
Like many Garfield themed items, I find myself asking: why does this exist? 😆 Whoever is in charge of creating or approving Garfield merchandise has some weird ideas about what people want/like. 😝

Platy: "IDONTWANNABENERMAL!!!"
Then he ends up loving Nermal 😂
I love Platy’s insane energy.
@@snox2017 nice
And he eventually won as Nermal.

That "classic soundtrack" sounds like it was ripped right from the Monopoly game that Chilled occasionally plays. xD
Yup
@@KageKobushi Thanks, I hate it lol

What is that? That's Arlene. Garfield's love interest who has existed since 1980. And it's a 100% faithful representation.
dsl 😔
The GCU grows bigger with each passing day.
Nermal plus Platy’s voice is perfection

I like how the description still has an explanation of what First Class Trouble is. This new update of First Class looks lit
1:02:26 best mini game. Chilled definitely loves those burnt toast. Lol
Pretty sure the running gag is that Garfield is literally incapable of making toast
That game went for so long that they actually got kinda accepting of what they're playing and attached to their characters.
My pets' social dynamic was literally Garfield
Dumb friendly small dog
Small grey cat that liked to play
Big orange cat that hated both of them and just wanted to lie around, eat _everything_ , and be left alone
You also forgot that Big orange cat also hates Mondays as well.
The sudden sprint prompt wiping everyone was pretty hilarious
I would argue that there's not enough existential ennui for this to be a Garfield game. Garfield is all about... a man struggling with depression trying to make it through each day! :O
Honestly the minigames look kinda fun. Its mainly pricepoint and no online that makes it reallly not worth.
I'm old. I read a ton of Garfield books as a kid. Also, I watched Ray's stream VOD the other day. Nice to see a version not compressed to hell.
The "Chillled VS Platypuss" friendly dichotomy in games is one of my favorite interactions of anything on the internet thus far and I will never get tired of it. Wholesome; yet vengeful and violent on a moments notice. Truly the greatest of youtube culture. 11/10 forever.
Having Platy's mic clipping screams coming from Nermal is my favorite thought
Chilled: are those bricks of coke "cola" ..... Matt: no its bricks of lasagna... my brain: bricks of that lasaza
This is actually my favorite mario party game now
This is what grandma buys you for xmas

This just gives me Vietnam Flashbacks of the Garfield show ....btw can't play as Jon? Ouch
this game doesnt have online but it supports remote play. lots of games that dont have online but have some kind of co-op have remote play options.

I'll bankroll that.

I love this. I want to watch the cartoon again. Also, I'm pretty sure none of them watched the old cartoon.

By 2002, Garfield made between $750 million to $1 billion, so yeah. Garfield was pretty popular not that long ago.
20 years is a long time ago....

But the end of the 32 turns there going to send Platt to abudabi in an insanity fuled rage
The 2nd and third minigame so far are from the old pokemon stadium games from the N64 lol
There's a huge cult following behind Garfield. There was a theme park featuring the characters (think six flags style). We've inherited a closet full of classic/original memorabilia... clocks, mugs, slippers, toys, etc..., no idea what to do with it.
You should make a video showing the collection! I bet someone would want it.
Those Oddjob comments might be valid actually, the results directly correlate with character height.
I'm with Platy on this. Who doesn't eat citrus beside those allergic?
Why isn't it sponsored by Lasagnas?
If you're looking for why the Garfield franchise survives, look up SCP-3166
I don't have to! I already know that one. The SCP fandom is weird and I love it
This was too funny!
The fact that this game is graphically better looking than the new pokemon game is saddening.

There was a Garfield cartoon show
Platy drawing things out way too long as always with that guessing about the game with the same developer as this one
