All she did was try to discredit what he was saying. She used the rarest examples against his “most cases” facts. She also assumes that setting up a pluralistic society like that of the US (which Israel does have to the extent hatit can…is it very racially and socially diverse), is somehow without obstacle. She doesn’t take the political and religious and historical history of the region into account, nor does she address the historic removal and persecution of Jews, or the conditions and public opinion of the time. The environment in the Middle East where there are 29 Muslim majority countries, surrounding the one tiny nation that is not Muslim majority - many of them are autocratic regimes, and also based on single religions.
But the tax dollar issue is reasonable. I feel Biden or Blinken should more intricately discuss WHY the US and Israel have the relationship they do. How does it benefit all Americans? Because we know it’s not about protecting Jews. So offer Americans an explanation for why we support Israel. They are angry because our healthcare and education and groceries are too expensive but we’re funding an international war, instead of aiding our own citizens.

One question Bri didn't ask is why were Hamas able to overwhelm IDF defense so easily on Oct.7th? I have heard by other former IDF that standards used to be different in the past. Israel has, thanks to US funding, some of the best surveillance and arms equipment in the world and yet a bunch of less equipped (by direct comparison, not a blanket statement) terrorists were able to storm and breach the defenses that should have been far more impenetrable. I heard (video with former IDF, I think it was a woman) that even if a stray cat triggered a trespass, IDF would know. So. Why was Hamas able to cross IDF lines so easily? Did the alertness of the IDF less than what it used to be? I get the feeling even Hamas was surprised how far they were able to trespass, they thought they'd be stopped far sooner.

The actual question asked in the The Harvard CAPS / Harris Poll, to which the guest referred, read: "Should Israel move forward with an operation in Rafah to finish the war with Hamas, doing its best to avoid civilian casualties even though there will be casualties, or should it back off now and allow Hamas to continue running Gaza?"
Anyone can see that this is a compound question to which the response is highly suspect. How many respondents would support Israel's invasion of Rafah if they understood that Israel's primary aim is the decimation of Palestinian culture altogether along with the theft of remaining Palestinian land? Or, if Israel plans to target civilian infrastructure in a way that undermines the capacity of the civilian population to survive? Americans have been heavily propagandized by their political representatives and corporate media outlets for decades, thus this poll is merely a reflection of the effectiveness of that propaganda campaign.
Lastly, independent voters were grossly underrepresented in the poll as they are over represented in the anti-Zionist cohort. Even so, only one third of the respondents approved of Biden's handling of Israel.

@@katsetuis5ryan600 Difficult to condensce but i`ll try. Judaism predates Islam. At no point has Palestine been only Islamic. When the jews flooded into Palestine after WW2 the Islamists were understandibly upset and retalitated with violence. However , they have no more right to the country than do Jews as historically it was originally a jewish state. . The Israeli`s also understandabley retaliated to the Islamic violence and were superior militarily. The country then ended up in their hands. It is now a country surrounded by Islamic countries not friendly to the Jewish faith. As a result both sides have done unnecessary actions keeping hate alive and also keeping Israel on edge and worried about any Islamic threat. Neither side as a result is innocent. However , once the Palestinians attacked and started this current conflict , they gave the Israeli`s the right to retaliate and try to end the Hamas threat once and for all. Unfortunately for the Palestian people of Gaza , they have allowed Hamas to take refuge underneath them for many years. This is again understandable as there is little they could do and also unfortunately there are many Palestinians who support the Hamas group. Obviously it is difficult to separate what must be done to end this idiocy once and for all. A two state solution is setting up a future slaughter of Jews as has been done historically many times , ie. Lebanon for example. A one state solution will only continue what has been happening. So there is no easy or obvious answer. But to condemn the Israeli`s is simply bias.

The reality is this is a centrist show. If they go full left-wing all the time with Bri, they will lose more than half their audience. They really need to replace both of them with more capable people. Bri is right on this topic, but the show has turned into this low-information adversarial debate show that doesn't move the needle. Despite being owned by one of the largest TV Network companies in the world, the hosts are less informed than many political bloggers.
I agree with Robbie on the last point. Americans shouldn't push their ideas on them. But we shouldn't be funding and sending weapons either.
I dont think the pro Palestinian protesters would mind being beside anti Hamas protesters if it were just for one thing. At the end of the day Israel is the agressior, and they are also the only side of this conflict that has the option to end the problem non violently. And they have continued to choose violence. Palestinians have been denied all peaceful means of protest and divestment in the diaspora and in the West bank (which has nothing. todo with Hamas), If this was a fair balance. of teo sides just ducking it out over land, people would of course come together and condomn all the violence. But it's not, its an illegal occupation that denies peace and vetos every peaceful avenue presented to it
