I think he over acts most of his parts, I never really liked him as an actor. I think he does an ok! Job in this film, but he's no Chris Sarandon. The original Fright Night was amazing, this one's just like blah, blah, blah!

I love how he combined the vampire act with the mind and mannerisms of a actual sociopath. He'd be scary even if he wasn't a filthy vampire. The subtle threats he makes speaking about his mom and GF was awesome. Making very clear that he's aware Charlie is on to him but actually being nice enough to give him a warning to back off.
One thing I like about this scene is it shows that Jerry is still kinda human in the sense that he basically says "I know you know what I am, just mind your own business and nothing will happen" he still gave him the chance to turn a blind eyeb
He isn't he's trying to lure him outside by insulting him and belittling him. The boy said in the beginning he's like a shark he will feast on everyone till there all dead. He was always going to kill him
RyzingTerror That’s true in regards to Jerry in the original film. But this Jerry is a monster through and through. He never intended to leave Charlie and his family alone.
@@cheekychap8047 Still even then Jerry underestimated his enemy and that's ultimately what slayed him in the end his own over confidence oh and still better than twilight :)
The technical subtleties in this scene are amazing. Both in the body language, as well as the facial expressions, and tone of voice. The way Jerry stands at the beginning, and then backs off a bit, trying to lure Charlie past the threshold in order to get him to come outside is the first one, and the way that his hand literally doesn't move past the middle part of the door frame, (which represents the boundary marker) is another. Also when Charlie hands him the beer, Charlie is quick to make sure his hand is not over the threshold so Jerry can grab it, and pull him out. But the thing that pulls it all together is Jerry's constant wariness, constant alertness, and his constant checking of every angle that he sees. His predatory movements looks weird to us, but his sense of self-preservation and his movements are so attuned to his need to hunt, that he himself doesn't notice it anymore, its just second-nature. I've seen these exact movements before in other animals, and CF captures it so perfectly. The predator... Always probing, always moving, always inherently trying to find a weakness. The kind of predator you never turn your back on.
@@supercolorful5878 Thank You! To me, the '85 Jerry is a suave, arrogant, gentleman monster at the top of his game, and knows it. He relishes in the hunt, more than the kill. I'm so late with my response but that's okay, but the description of Colin playing Jerry is on point. THAT'S EXACTLY IT!! Colin seems almost predatory himself and a lot of his roles do seem to convey that, from my perspective. He seems to have an unabashed, uninhibited, free spirited nature, almost wild like, wild uninhibited beauty or something but that's just my two cents.
actually i think he's trying to invite HIMSELF to the house and then he wants to kill Charlie but Charlie was clever and doesnt let him into that house.
Charly knows he's a vampire, and Jerry knows he knows... and has a little bit of fun with that. Not many remakes manage to improve on the original but with Colin Farrell & David Tennyson's loony Peter Vincent I think they pulled it off.
Colin Farrell was dope in this movie. I like this scene alot because it builds alot of tension. And just shows you not only how creepy his character Jerry is, but how smart he is by observing certain traits about Charlie`s mom, dad, and girlfriend. This remake was better than alot of other trash ones we usually see compared to the original.
the essence of this scene is that Jerry already knows full well that Charlie has figured everything out. He's not hiding it, never was. He's openly taunting him, albeit in his humanform :P
Charlie was scared shitless!! He tried to play it cool. But he was scared to death... Jerry snuck up on him which startled him and he just found out that he's an actual vampire... Kinda hard to say that cool... Lol

Best scene in the movie. The way he comes of as a total creep while displaying his vampire nature WHILE giving Charley a man to man lesson because of an absent father.
Colin Ferrell's interpretation of Jerry Dandridge was absolutely brutal and uncouth lacking the old world sophistication that a 400 year old vampire typically has to mask their barbaric vampire blood thirsty rabid nature. Chris Sarandon displayed the charm and sophistication which when he went vicious monster it was all the more shocking.
@Vyrisus Chris was intimidating as well I found the scene where he was actually invited in by Charlie's mother and yet did not kill them on the spot. He just menacingly terrorized Charlie and the audience.
