I'm not sure how it works in the US, but i am under the impression that it is hella easy to legally get a motorcycle license and get on a liter bike as a beginner, and that is terrifying.
Here in Sweden we have 3 "stages" of motocycle licenses. when you're 16 you can get a license for up to 125cc, at 18 you can upgrade that to roughly 450cc (depending on the horsepower to weight ratio and a bunch of other stuff) and at 22 you can upgrade that one to an unlimited displacement license. if you dont get the license for 125cc, you need to be 22 for the 450cc license, and 24 for the unlimited cc one. I was 32 when i started riding, so i skipped 125 and 450 and went straight to the unlimited license. and getting a license in sweden is a pain in the ass financially and very time consuming. first off you need a theoretical safety course that is 4-5 hours long, before you even get to sit on a bike. then there is driving classes with an instructor, the average amount needed is 10 classes at 90 minutes each. then there is a practical safety course that is about 3 hours long, where you learn to manouver the bike properly in dangerous situations. then there is a written test with 60 questions and you need to get at least 52 of them right. and lastly, theres the driving test which is made up of 4 parts. a slow course where you need to ride your bike at 3-5 km/h without putting down your feet, a "high speed" course where you need to swerve and zigzag betweet cones at 55km/h. a brake test where you accelerate to 70km/h and then safely come to a complete stop withing a certain number of meters. and last but not least, riding in traffic. my license cost me around $2500 and took about 6 weeks to complete, and i passed everything on the first attempt.
even with all this training before you get to ride solo, it is not recommended to get on a 1000cc. most people that i know who got on big bikes when they were new, end up getting scared of the bike and quit riding. riding a bike you cant handle completely removes the fun in riding a motorcycle!
if you ride a touring bike or a cruiser, 1000cc isnt too much, because they're not built like sportsbikes or naked bikes. riding "slow" bikes has its charm too! it's hella fun going fast on a slow bike 😂
@@Animosus08 it’s actually, extremely easy to get a liter bike and pass your test lol after you pas your rode test, you can legally ride any motorcycle you want. Sweden is very strict, judging from what you’ve said. I’m also surprised that your license cost $2,500 and took 6 weeks to get. The dmv fee here, depending on state, is make up to $25 to to get your license and take the safety course. WOW 😳
@@chillwithkea the first safety course is like $90 including the books, the written test is only like $20, the driving test $150 and the practical safety course is $25, so it doesnt have to be expensive. the bulk of the cost is the driving lessons at nearly $200 each 😬and renting a bike for the driving test is also $200.
in mexico is even easier u could get a h2r and polcie wont know is street ilegal and if u dont have licence u just give them 10 dlrs and they only stop u if u drive without helmet or pass a red light, they rarely stop anyone for speeding
Everyone should start on an H2
Hell to the no! I can't tell any grown person what to do, but a beginner riders feel will not be comfortable...... You shouldnt ride a fast bike slow. Great vid Kea!
@@brandonethereal1084 thanks my guy! I agree 100%
I started on a 08 gsxr 1000 as my first bike first ever ride.
Im 18 and my first bike (gsxr-1000, full titanium exhaust, tune, headers) I think that starting on a stock 1000 or any is fine. Mine is an 08 and i feel the newer bikes even have more tech so if you do start on a 1000 i highly suggest a newer year. I think as long as you take your time and focus more on basics before trying to get yt clips like a dumbass you will be okay. I started with no licence, no training and the biggest bike i rode was a 125 cc dirt bike when i was 11.
@@whatup.9017 “learn the basics before trying to yt clips like a dumbass” 😂😂 that’s very true bro. I know of one guy who unfortunately died on a Yamaha r1 while trying to wheelie for a video and went into a guard rail… you literally hit the nail on the head
How does it feel to start on 1000cc if you rode just a 125cc before ? I mean the throttle management and weight
Sure you can! It's like getting your learner's permit to start learning to drive a car, and the car is an Indy or Formula One racecar :)
@@devilsoffspring5519 lmaooo love this
@@chillwithkea I haven't ridden a moto in a long time, but the strange thing is you can turn 16 and get your learner's permit, having never driven any vehicle at all, and start from scratch on a liter bike that's a total missile.
100% legal :)
Most MURICA youtube title i’ve ever seen

Btw. I Love your content bro.
New sub and soon to be a biker. going through the process of unlimited moto license in my country cause it's similar like the guy from Sweden said in the comments.
Required ages almost identical but in my country it's little less of bs and wayyyy cheaper.
Test part is done. Here we only need 28 correct answers of 35 questions to pass (was easy cause learning car license has the same questions lol but the test only has 30 questions). Now 10 drives at the school and a real driving test is left.
Hoping to buy R6 2006 next season... Yeah we got those too from march till november you can drive cause of the snow and cold.
@@ACCOUNT72197 what that’s awesome! I definitely appreciate you subbing to the channel! WOW it’s amazing hype process is so different in different countries. Where are you from if you don’t mind me asking?
@@ACCOUNT72197 I’ve heard of it but never knew where it is 😂
@@chillwithkea 😂 It's almost in Central Europe. But big respect from me that you know it.
Is it true that you only need written test to get the permit and you can drive any bike in the US or is it by state? I was shocked when I found that out
You have to respect the machine on this kind of bike. You have to be very attentive. There’s so much power available with such little effort. tested a 1000 cc as my first bike. I personally won’t advise anyone on it and myself I won’t be purchasing one as my first either.
All facts! 🫡
Thanks for this Videos, iam starting few Days ago the Motorscycle Licence, now iam really scared about big Motorcycles. 3 x more deadly Accidents then in Germany 😮

@@chillwithkea its incredible for a beginner to see you handle that weapon so well lol
I think that in Europe it is fairly common to start on a 1000 after a moped, or 600 to 1000 after moped.
The drivers ed for bikes and the tests seem to be much more extensive than states.
Also the fatalities on bikes… Its quite rare that people die in Finland on bikes.
I’ve generally already got the idea from YT that American riders are alot more reckless and inexperienced on average than in Europe.
@@Z3ZP that’s all facts for sure. America has it bad when it comes to motorcycles and cars compared to a lot of other countries. I respect that most countries require you to know how to drive manual cars. That alone will stop a lot of deaths because people are forced to pay full attention to
It sure isn't common to go to a 1000 after a moped. The usual most common route is people starting young which means they have to go through either the AM at 16 for a 50cc the A1 at 17 for a 125cc (Possibly the CBT if you're in England as that encompasses both 50cc's and 125's at 17 however is not technically a license) or with an A2 at 19. Most people don't do the A1/AM and will just do the CBT at least here in the UK until they're 19 and go for the A2 which is simply less than 47bhp, in other countries its quite common to start with the A1. However most riders will not go from a 125cc to a 1000. Perhaps a restricted 600 as the A2 requires you to have less than 47bhp but seldom a 1000. The typical CC people start at if they do direct access (available at 24 in most countries with no riding experience) is 400-600. But in most of Europe it certainly isn't common
@@tedstation5607 wow… I never knew how this worked overseas. The fact that you’re restricted depending on age and engine displacement is interesting
Mistakes i have made ....... Mistakes Smaller ....... Displacement 🤣
@@ghostlive2393 here you go 😂😂😂
You really got me thinking now.. I was wanting to get my license an purchase a Harley Davidson sportster S for my first ever bike. What do you think?
@@papoanthony6868 you’re not necessarily headed in the wrong direction. A 1000cc Harley and a 1000cc sport bike are configured and setup entirely different from each other. The sportster could be a great option to start on. My advice is to take your time and learn on it as much as possible before taking your road test at the dmv. This video was primarily aimed towards sportbike riders. You may be fine my man 💯
@@chillwithkea thank you man I appreciate the advice!
