Back in 2006 - 2008 I was riding a 749R, and thought very little about 600 class 4 cylinder supersport and sportbikes. Then I got dusted by the Yamaha 600s. Now though, having sampled a couple of the Honda CBR600RRs at track days, I was blown away by how easy the Honda is to ride really fast. It was a revelation, and changed my perspective completely. If a rider can ride this bike to it's limits, that rider will be passing almost everyone at a track day. The ones I sampled had full race exhausts and were re-mapped, re-geared and sounded amazing at 12+RPM. My advantage is I'm 5'8" and 9 stone, 10 suited and booted...INow need to try a Kawasaki 636 soon.
748r was most disappointing bike I ever owned. Bought a cheap abused basic 999 years later and it had better handling. 2005 cbr600rr light years ahead of both in handling.

This reminds we of the 90's, when the 400 in line 4 cylinders were around. If you knew how to hustle a 400, the only place the bigger bikes would have a chance, was on the straights and that doesn't really take a lot of skill to do. IMO, you really cant push a litre sport bike to its limits on the road, unless you're Peter Hickman at the TT. And if you are still insistent on trying to explore those limits, then say goodbye to your licence. I had no aches today (time will tell) - 90 minute journey either way. I'm 6ft 2 and I don't find it cramped. Was hot under the bum on the way home until I hit the A3 and got moving. Nothing I can't live with and I'm actually looking forward to the heat during winter commutes.

I see so many posts on social media saying go litre or go home, but I totally disagree with that statement. This bike proves that with a smaller engine with a lower price point, you can really have an incredible time. Cheaper insurance too
The ultimate lane splitter together with the zx6r thanks to its light weight, slenderness and retractable mirrors. I've done 60,000km's on my 2020 zx6r and have enjoyed every second of it. Do get yourself one of those comfort cushions (tourtecs, wildass, airhawk whatever) and you'll be able to ride for hours on end without issues.
My first brand new bike ever was 2003 (first year they made these) 600rr and I loved it. Have a 2017 - amazing machine. Most intuitive thing I've ever guided through a set of corners. Enjoy the Jeckel and Hyde nature of the 600 engine. You've got natural 'power modes' depending on what RPM range you choose to ride in. Very fun weekend canyon carver.

Just came back from a short grocery run with this bike, took delivery last thursday and already 500 km on it. I'm a giant on it at 6'5" but it's managable and the fun makes up for any lost comfort. It's stable and fast, looks and feels amazing. You'd need to rev it over 10 to go ludicrous on it, but even below, I still love the grunt, even compared to my CB500S
I had one new in 2008 it was brilliant, but 16 years later I don't think I could use a CBR600RR as daily but would love one for weekend blasts and track days.
Tried one of these today, first time riding a supersport and I loved it. For road use I think my Street Triple is quicker with more torque. But this is fun when you keep it high in the rpm range.
SUV bikes that fill the road are for those who are too old for these bikes, fair enough. Most bikers are old. Im lucky to be only 55 and just 6ft 2, so still fit a super sport. One day I will be old enough for a SUV but not yet. Thanks for reminding others to stay young via you.
Had the very first model of this bike when it came out in the 80s. Totally incredible handling and one of the most fun bikes I've ever owned. I still miss it at times.
Great review Chopsy. After seeing Greg's review of the ZX-6R, your upcoming comparison of the two bikes is going to be very interesting. Especially since Greg's comments on the Kawasaki mirrored your comments regarding the Honda. Many thanks for posting.

I'm so happy for you. stay safe and enjoy riding her. Australia is a rip off on CBR so I went down the 40th anniversary zx6r line. $30k here and conversion works out to $19-$20k not $30k. As much as I want same bike you have it's a stupid financial move for me to make ($70k this week spent at Kawasaki so money isn't the issue here.)👍 from Australia
What a beautiful bike and the sound! Honda just announced we’re finally getting the cb650r and fairing version with e-clutch here in the states and this bike as a 2025. It will be available in pearl gray only. This thing would be great for a couple hours blast on a weekend morning and like you said it’s gorgeous!
I’d a 2004 model 600RR, the best thing for it was to add an Akra end pipe along with 2x teeth extra on the rear sprocket, a K&N race air-filter - what a huge improvement…! Have fun. Peter Scotland
It has a range left indicator. It lights up when there's 4l of fuel left in the tank. Fuel low light comes up and also it shows how much range left, you can toggle that between range left or liters of fuel left
Not only that but it also has a "Trip A fuel consumed" indicator. Just reset the Trip A everytime you fill it up (you can use the Trip B for whatever else) and you can have an indication with that. Around 10 L consumed, the Lo warning will come on
So you like it then John? 😁 I have owned several Honda's over the years, they have always been great bikes to ride and reliable as the day is long. Having something like this come back to life shows that Honda are, as always, matching Kawasaki's passion and enthusiasm for great machines that stand out from the crowd. I can only see both of these machines selling really well with owners buying them as "forever" bikes. I look forward to the comparison 👍
The sound of this machine and your refreshing bewilderment creates a magnificent input into one’s senses ( of smell and hearing, that is😉) Nice vid, Chopsy Can’t wait for the upcoming duel 👋
Nice one Chopsy , can't beat the sound of a screaming inline four 😁 I always pictured the 600s being really small and cramped for bigger folk ! Surprised you found it slightly roomy .👍
I don't want to sound sour as im happy living my dreams (Kawasaki 40th anniversary ninjas helps lol). Not happy with Honda tactics that's all. Stay safe and keep up your awesome work.
Front design 10/10, sound 10/10, colours 8/10 still nice but red and black like on 2007 - 2009 would be 10/10 but just my taste. Expressed by movie Comando quote “you know what I like the most? The price!”
I tried an original RR a couple of years ago, but found it too much for my old mangled discs... ended up with a GSXR1000 K5 which is really comfortable.... think i need to try this new RR and see if they've changed it a bit. Great vid Chopsy 👌
I had a BMW F800st when i first got into biking, a lumpy parallel twin but very torquey. It was a perfect bike for the road in many ways as you didnt need to thrash the gearbox constantly as it was an overtaking monster, it would snot supersports at legalish speeds, but it always sounded like a bag of broken spanners. Eventually i couldnt live with it anymore.
I had a 2005 CBR600RR and I remember riding a Daytona 675 for the first time and suddenly the CBR felt a bit tame. I hope the Daytona comes back in response to this!
Great video I really enjoyed watching the video for us to enjoy. I ride a 2019rr sp1 the 600 is the baby Brother to my bike. There are so many comparisons to be made between the two but the 600 really shines through.😊
I held a great fondness for the supersport 600s of the past. They were highly sought after during the pinnacle of world supersport and superbike during the Foggy era. I owned the Kawasaki ZX6, followed by the ZX7RR. These 600s exhibited remarkable speed and agility. Love it ❤️ 👍 Thank you for sharing another excellent video, Chops. You are successfully rekindling memories of the supersport era. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I always preferred my 600 sports bikes when all my mates were riding 1000's and they kept on egging me on to buy a 1000. I did eventually cave and go onto 750's but even then still had a soft spot for 600's. They are all you need for the road, you can rev them out and play racer but you can't do that on a 1000 so much. I think 600's are the most fun.
Love the music intro chops, one of my favorite openings you did before the copyright got in the way was a drone shot at the seaside of a (superduke?) bike with “steal my sunshine “ playing

"Why would you buy a parallel twin...?". Because you told us the RS660 was brilliant! 😆 Wish this had come out a year earlier and I'd have considered it instead of the RS. Mint little bike!
Great vid Chops. Looks fun & I'm glad at least a few of the supersports bikes have returned. I don't remotely consider these to be in the same sector as the sporty parallel twin gang as they're different bikes doing different things for a different audience. I do still like the supersports, but I don't think I'll be buying one any time soon due to the riding position. Although, I totally get the appeal as I've had a GSXR 600 & 750 in the past. Really looking forward to your comparison though.
In Australia the CBR600RR costs $30k after taxes. The Kawasaki ZX-6R in comparison is $18k with a more road friendly torque curve - making it very difficult to justify the extra expense of the Honda given the limits these types of bikes face for road use.
Great video Chops! I can't make up my mind choosing between the 600RR and the Aprilia RS660 with the parallel twin. I don't really do track days and I know that Aprilia would probably make more sense for me but man I love this machine 😩I am a shorter rider and I felt better on the CBR actaully. I have to try them both on the street to make up my mind. Anybody with a similar dilemma?
I tested the CBR 600rr today and I’m seriously considering trading in my ‘21 CB 1000r for it. The only negative point about the 600 is the amount of heat it produces. I rode at 30 degree Celsius today and my feet were uncomfortably hot, something that I did not experience on the CB1000.
I love the 4cyl mid weights. If twins were so great Ducati wouldn’t need a nearly 1000cc motor to compete with the zx6r, cbr600rr, and R6 in supersport. ☕️ Also I don’t think a 600 needs wheelie control :)
You can’t really argue with this for the money that paint combination has always had a soft spot for me. But why not put cruise control on it would make sense and although it’s not needed those that use it for more than hoonage will get nice little extra. I mean even Ducati are bringing out cruise now on all their new bikes.

You’re making me want to get another CBR 600. My first bike was a 2012, and it was great, especially on track.
Do it!! 😁👍
It's a bike I long to buy. My dream bike. Great review!!!
I wish they brought this update to America. I love my cbr650r looks, but i just hate the last gen 600rr looks. This is gorgeous.
Have fun.

It has a range left indicator. It lights up when there's 4l of fuel left in the tank. Fuel low light comes up and also it shows how much range left, you can toggle that between range left or liters of fuel left
OK thanks for letting me know 👍
Not only that but it also has a "Trip A fuel consumed" indicator. Just reset the Trip A everytime you fill it up (you can use the Trip B for whatever else) and you can have an indication with that. Around 10 L consumed, the Lo warning will come on
@@laurenbro44 it comes up when 4l left in the tank
Does the Fireblade 2024 have the same? Do you know?
So you like it then John? 😁 I have owned several Honda's over the years, they have always been great bikes to ride and reliable as the day is long. Having something like this come back to life shows that Honda are, as always, matching Kawasaki's passion and enthusiasm for great machines that stand out from the crowd. I can only see both of these machines selling really well with owners buying them as "forever" bikes. I look forward to the comparison 👍
We need more small sport bike tests Chopsey!!.maybe some of the new 450cc bikes we need more youngsters to get excited about bikes like the old days!.
The sound of this machine and your refreshing bewilderment creates a magnificent input into one’s senses ( of smell and hearing, that is😉)
Nice vid, Chopsy
Can’t wait for the upcoming duel 👋
Nice one Chopsy , can't beat the sound of a screaming inline four 😁 I always pictured the 600s being really small and cramped for bigger folk ! Surprised you found it slightly roomy .👍
Yes me too before riding this! 👍
Another great review Chops. Awesome meeting you and chatting bikes at Helmet City Chichester on Saturday.
Yes same to you Andy, thanks for coming down 👍
I don't want to sound sour as im happy living my dreams (Kawasaki 40th anniversary ninjas helps lol).
The price!”
I’m excited to see the review on the new Fireblade ❤
Great review Chops - had mine for a few weeks coming down from 1kcc’s - it’s great fun for the road 👍🏻
Sounds great ! I wish Suzuki updated their 750, it's been gone too long 🙁
Yes that really would be great 👍
Its always been a great middle weight bike thanks Chops
Oh boy have I been waiting for this one Chopsy!
What a peach of a bike.
Great video I really enjoyed watching the video for us to enjoy. I ride a 2019rr sp1 the 600 is the baby Brother to my bike. There are so many comparisons to be made between the two but the 600 really shines through.😊
Reminds me of the early nineties... they were all the rage... not to mention the fireblade
I held a great fondness for the supersport 600s of the past. They were highly sought after during the pinnacle of world supersport and superbike during the Foggy era.
I owned the Kawasaki ZX6, followed by the ZX7RR.
These 600s exhibited remarkable speed and agility.
Love it ❤️ 👍
Thank you for sharing another excellent video, Chops. You are successfully rekindling memories of the supersport era. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks Dean 👍
I always preferred my 600 sports bikes when all my mates were riding 1000's and they kept on egging me on to buy a 1000. I did eventually cave and go onto 750's but even then still had a soft spot for 600's. They are all you need for the road, you can rev them out and play racer but you can't do that on a 1000 so much. I think 600's are the most fun.
Another great and honest review Chopsy! Thank you. Always look for your review of any bike first 😉.
I appreciate that! 👍
Great review mate
Looks great in those colours.
Love the music intro chops, one of my favorite openings you did before the copyright got in the way was a drone shot at the seaside of a (superduke?) bike with “steal my sunshine “ playing
Yeah thanks, I remember that well 👍
Hopefully my next bike, 1290 sas and a cbr600rr in the garage😃 perfect combo I think for all kind of riding😃😃🏍 looking forward to next video👊💥
Oh absolutely would be! 👍
That’s the exact combo I am planning to have 😮 Already have the SAS and salivating over this as I’m missing that super sport screaming engine
@@kn58 same here, went from sportsbike(last one was gen3 R1) to adventure bike wich I enjoy so much. My 23 1290sas, would be nice if I could but a deposit on cbr 600rr coming winter and have both next summer😃😃
I would loved to have been able to learn to ride a bike as the 600rr is what i would buy ! So jealous ! Great video !
Nice video. Can you do a back to back comparison of the cbr600rr and the cbr650r. Thanks
I bought the new Kawasaki ZX6-R! Its absolutely great and stunning!!!!
Well done bro, stay safe having fun. I hope you are living out your dreams. I'll continue binge watching RUclips lol😢. I bought one last week (40th). Problem is I'm on a restricted licence on Learners for 3months before I can ride zx but bought 2 40th anniversary 500 for riding in the meantime with Mrs hopefully). I also got a 40th zx4rr 🎉 to practice on before the big bad zx6r 40th. (All 4 ninjas purchased are 40th anniversary as I was a teen in 90's lol). I'm living my dreams and hopefully so are you
I had a few in the 90s. Loved them.
Beautiful bike, thanks Chopsy!
Great vid, awesome bike.
Eat your heart out Yamaha; keep that lawnmower that is the R7.
Now let's make the baby blade dance with the Ninja... 😈🥷
Wonderful! Such an amazing Bike... Have to wait till September until mine arrives :/ Tuff times :D
That was an excellent sales pitch Chopsy! Honda should be paying you commission 😉. Great review
Haha that would be nice! 😄👍
Best CBR600rr review on RUclips 🔥 Everything else is fully track based…this review shows how it performs in the road. Great job Chopsy ✋🏽
Thanks very much 👍
Not sure why you would want this on the road, esecially in the UK. Waste of bike. It's a track machine.
@@mdeerocks6792 Extra Features, Safety Tech, Relative affordability (compared to a 1000cc), Exhaust note, Reliability, Light weight, Handling, Occasional track use, Looks🔥??!
Nobody purely rides on a track fyi !!!
And I ride in Germany (if you know you know)
Pretty much the only review on youtube to be honest.
"Why would you buy a parallel twin...?". Because you told us the RS660 was brilliant! 😆 Wish this had come out a year earlier and I'd have considered it instead of the RS. Mint little bike!
Haha sorry 😄 👍
Nice one Chopsie👍
Beautiful bike👍
Nice you caught a Chinook on the video 😁👍(about 17mins)
Yeah I noticed that too, lots of those around my way as airforce base just up the road 👍
Great review, I fancy a test ride myself, tempted
I’ve been saying for ages that the parallel twin “sports bikes” sound crap. This machine is awesome 🤩
Yeah it's unusually hot today, I was cooking on my GX today 🥵
I love the 4cyl mid weights. If twins were so great Ducati wouldn’t need a nearly 1000cc motor to compete with the zx6r, cbr600rr, and R6 in supersport. ☕️
Also I don’t think a 600 needs wheelie control :)
You can’t really argue with this for the money that paint combination has always had a soft spot for me. But why not put cruise control on it would make sense and although it’s not needed those that use it for more than hoonage will get nice little extra.
I mean even Ducati are bringing out cruise now on all their new bikes.
Great review Chops.. looks lovely wow.. and a great price.. well done Honda 😊😊 ❤ when you getting yours dude 😉 Pete 🏍️🏍️
I really wouldn't mind one at all!
I love my Italian sport bikes, but, yeah, this is up there, looks mega. Red all the way....
Such a good price in the UK.
These bikes are $25k in australia
