Recorded in the Church of the Ascension in Blackheath, London
It is really impresive when the sun appears again among the clouds it seems that the heaven is paying attention...
I wish Bach were around to hear these amazing interpretations.
Jon Kovach agree... these are the time I long back to the legacy concept of heaven ;)
@@JonKovach depends on your religion he can
I’m playing this for a recital in two months and I just started practicing it. It is HARD and stressing me out. This lady makes this piece look SO easy.
Have you listened to the Netherlands Bach Society recording? It flows quite nicely: ruclips.net/video/MRKy3kX8XUM/видео.html
How was the recital?
@@tutszumi I cut my finger the day before on a wine glass that I tried to catch while it fell, but the recital went well considering the circumstances :)
This piece is very hard
Creo, es una opinión personal, que las sonatas y partidas de Bach, su mejor interprete fue Henry Szeryng
it's slower than those i've already heard, but it's actually for me the best interpretation of this piece.
rodstartube fully agree!
100% EXActly what I thought
Sounds like she takes her time... she doesn't play it as "it should be played", incredible nuances, etc. wow
Yea but ita not in the baroque fasuon. She plays this piece as if it was made for romantic era, due to the long strides of the chords rather than a really staccato fasion.
fugues sound way better played at a slower tempo! That way Bachs mastery of counterpoint really shines!
My parrot finally make a noise. :') I've been showing him parrot videos and letting him listen all different types of music all day. I think he likes classical just like me. I'm crying.
what in the world
What the fuck.
hows your parrot doing after 2 years?
Please.
We NEED an update on your parrot
IExist it’s been three years now
Lana convinced me this is how Bach should be played. We forget all too often that the score is just the letter provided by the composer and that it's up to the performer to provide the spirit or soul to the music so that it can live again. Thank you Lana and Boris!
And especially during Baroque period!☺
Can we just all take a moment and appreciate this beauty? Her playing is absolutely beautiful and the sound is so... extraordinary.
Truly extraordinary beautiful detail in her work!
Her playing absolutely sends chills up my spine! How utterly beautiful her playing is..bravo!
indeed
There are only few musicians who REALY UNDERSTAND AND RIGHT PLAYING MUSIC OF Bach.
Am new - very new - to my classical music awakening. This piece was suggested by a reader in another music video so here I am.
I've just only finished listening to this piece and it makes me feel like a naked child on a spring day lying on a field of warm grass as the clouds slowly part to reveal an enveloping sky... I don't want to wax poetic but, suffice it to say this piece made an older person (me) very happy and very, very grateful to Lana, who, If, on the off chance she reads these comments, has made one person in the world very happy after a very long in door hibernation due to COVID-19 . Thank you. You have no idea how much I appreciate this.
Brava! This performance gave me chills.
every tone she is playing is a song combined in the story to sing no one beside - amazing
Beautiful sound, beautiful tone, beautiful sound QUALITY
because it's recorded in a church where the ceiling is high af and the sound waves can travel
FYI She plays the 1750 Pietro Antonio dalla Costa violin.
I love this performance.
Let the Sun shine over you.
The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.
I have been very moved and inspired by this young lady's playing. She makes my heart smile and weep all at once.
Your interpretations of Bach have made me rethink every pice I have ever studied. Thank you Lana.
Wow. you made me want to look for yours !
This rendition brought tears to my eyes. Bravo, Lana. Bravissimo.
Lana's performance of this beautiful fugue is superlative. How dull life would be without music!
Wow. Best Bach I ever heard.
I think JS Bach is the greatest composer & you play his work beautifully. The acoustics are great. Congratulations to your sound engineer.
no question greatest ever composer. if you played nothing but bach everyday of your life it would be enough.
P♥E♥R♥F♥E♥C♥T♥I♥O♥N!!!!♥♥♥♥ Best rendition I've ever heard. Best tempo. Best sound. Best recording. Best acoustic. Best technique. Perfect bow-holding. Perfect wrist.
Yes, I agree. I don't think anyone played it better then her
i listen to her many hundred times in the last year.
for me, its the greatest piece of music i ever see and hear.
its more i can explain with words.
Magic. unreacheble. and the best performance of this piece i can imagen.
thank you bach, thank you lana, thank you boris.
You make this world to a better place.
This is one of the most beautiful things my ears have ever come across. It is played in a great location by a beautiful and extremely accomplished musician, the only thing that could make it better would be if i was in the room while it was being played. Thank you for sharing this piece with the world and putting it online.
what has a person's superficial beauty have to do with how they play an instrument - what an idiotic tcomment!!
*****
I never said it did. But i do think she is pretty in addition to playing a great piece well.
@@llwydanwyl And why would you feel it necessary to demean a stranger struggling to make a positive comment. Can we just give criticism a break in the midst of one making beautiful music. Was his comment really that much of an affront to your hyper-woke sensibilities?
Amazing interpretation. Somehow the chords sound much richer, cleaner and more sustained at this slower tempo. Aided of course by an amazing technique. The resonance of the acoustic is also perfect for this piece.
to be able to play such beautiful music so well.. that's a gift
Lana Trotovsek....I'll try and remember that name. Bravo.
kawaibluebow you can just type Bach fugue in g minor, and you will see her on the list.
Absolutely beautiful to be able to watch the violin as it is singing.
She is the queen of Bach sonatas and partitas. :)
Wonderful baroque style, creative freedom, passion, naturally breathing, beautiful tone- this interpretation really has it all
i am trying to play the guitar transposition of this formidable piece and it is wonderful to hear the violin version played at a slightly slower tempo than a lot of violin virtuosos. This allows the chordal structure of the piece to be more defined, especially by such an accomplished violinist. Its very diffult to illustrate chords in the violin which involves double/triple stopping allied with exact tonal intonation of the arpeggios. Its very impressive.
E' la Sonata di violino più incantevole che mi sia mai capitato di udire negli ultimi tempi. Suonata in questo modo poi....è davvero sublime.
What a Beauty... Heaven in angel's hands... 🤩
I fell asleep to this and I mean that in the best way possible absolutely beautiful I dreamt of angels in heaven
This is it ! The best I ever heard and realized that fugue has meaning and Lana does it the best
Bravo Lana....une version "quasi cantabile" e di "bel suono".....felicitacions!
Dear Lana! I am also violinist . I am surprised , because your play is AMAZING!! You are such a young women and you play such with a deep comprehension and feelings!! Your play is better than anyone of the greatest Artists. THANK YOU!! (from Hungary)
It's just amazing that one man, with almost no reputation as a composer while living, could compose so much amazing music, and each so perfectly adapted to it's particular instrument, including both choir and solo voice.
divine music, emotion and performance. bachs genius perfectly becomes obvious .. how can such polyphony be created in violin.. . absolute genius
It's wonderful to enjoy this kind of power, comfort and control over your skill. It elevates artists above a world of mechanical musicians.
most power rendition I've heard. and the echo sounds perfect. for this.
Mike Hoover Bach wrote pieces for church ... and that’s played in the church . Maybe it was meant to be idk xD
I clicked on this video because I'd never heard a fugue on violin before, not knowing this is coincidentally my favorite fugue by Bach as well. That was an amazing surprise. Thanks!
Unmatched
This is my favourite piece since i was like 8 or 10. The way you play it makes me cry. Thanks.
Outstanding and sensitive playing.
Really beautiful sound !!Lovely playing of Bach .
accoustic of the church is simply the best choice ever possible even thought it create terrible risk of latency in the reverb through the violin sound expansion. In the first thoughts, first word that come is madness.. And no.. The surprise, the music explosion, the talent creating. A women giving birth... Birth of a masterpiece too much destroyed by the past, and through the fire consuming her soul, gives the music a new lease of life. So much pain, so much passion and so much love. Thank you!
I don't know which is more beautiful, the violinist or the music.
she is quite the performer. passion. instinct. talent that only god could give.
and gorgeous!
I could listen to this...all day! Brilliant!
It's amazing all the different instruments and styles one can apply to Bach's music, as if made out of rubber.
It finally reached 1M views!!! I come here and listen to this very often and I remember when it first came to RUclips. Beautiful interpretation
I just learned to play this on guitar and that's why I am watching it now. God damn, amazing, simply amazing. Thank you for posting this.
Fantastic performance absolutely beautiful she has a dark soul but in a beautiful way
i can watch this hundreds of time and still hypnotized by her performance.
My goodness, I love her with all my existence. This is superb...
performance barroca
@@josesalasar5570 Eso no es en lo absoluto necesario. Cada violinista tiene su interpretación de Bach. Ej: Troussov, Hahn, Jansen, Bell, Ehnes.
I wanna like this video every time I watch it!
Patricia Danner i could listen to this forever.
@@lastmanstanding80 yep, I have been listening to this recording for almost 2 years
She becomes one with her violin, absolutely brilliant. !
Exquisite tone and empathy with this beautiful violin piece. Masterful control of a lovely instrument.
oh God I have heard you one, two, three, four times and I love you interpretation so much!! it's so beautiful, so rich, so equilibrated, so passionate! you have ispired me, many thanks!
It's amazing watching her and the sun shines such beauty I'm blown away she is so blessed
Lana, God bless you. I like how you play. Awesome. 🙏🎼🎻❤️
What a beauty! I cannot stop listening to Mrs Lana Trotovsek interpretation. The most original and breath taking. Thank you so much
Hearing this makes me love the violin.
listening to this made me a better musician over night. The heavenly harmonies of this composer makes me love his solitary music the best of any composer. This music needs no symphony.
Wow beautiful in far too many ways.
After hearing this incredible interpretation, im going to review all my previous bach pieces ive already studied. You played this bach with sweetnes and without rushing even in the most dramatic parts and it sounds SO GOOD, the chords have such a round sound! Thanks for this upload, this and the Szeryng recording of bach's partitas are my favorites. Subbed!
This movement is sooo hard!!!!!
Astonishing and madening. Masterfully done.
Beautiful. And her interpretation is also beautiful...
Bravissimo! Incredible playing and incredible sound. Absolutely stunning!
That just leaves me crying its such a miracle.
Lana, you really gave yourself entirely on this music. Thanks!
Love the voices. Reminds of a Bach Organ. Couldn't stop listening.
Very gifted violinist, such exquisite playing
Sweet, sweet intonation, and an even sweeter approach. Impressed.
Incredible!
When I close my eyes I hear two violins.
Magnificent performance.
This is rapturous. Thank you sooo much for this performance.
I, as crudely and unsnobbishly fuqing love this brilliant masterpiece! Bravo, Godspeed!
Fugueing, not fuqing
This isn't music. Its art for the ears
+Playful Logic "Art for the ears". Isn't that pretty much the definition of music though? lol
+00Mj000 I suppose haha. Guess its just a special kind of art lol
😐😐😑
Excellent bow control
Brilliantly clear chords!
this is AMAZING, and i´ve heard so many interpretations by all the masters....she´s superb
She really nails this... it's a one off. Even the sun shining in the church window. Did that just happen or was it timed somehow. there's a hell of a lot of resonance in that church. The sound-man got a bit carried away with the positioning of the mics. It doesn't really need that much resonance to achieve that tone. It's just an inspired performance. I have listened to it a dozen times, or more...
The reverb from the church is soooo perfect !!
my favorite rendition of this piece. just masterful!
Beautiful, beautiful! Both, the fugue and Lana!
Divine sparks in charm's extremes... ah Lana ! Doing that Sonata on the piano, it is so wonderfully inspiring to hear such a lush rendition on what it was written for... you have my heart, soul, tears and joy...
I am entranced by this phantastic and authentic interpretation!
Thank you for publishing this jewel.
My favorite rendition ever of this masterpiece. Powerful, perfect paste, perfection!
Mic drop. Lana!! Amazing. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
It sounds like the violin is singing 😯 such an amazing sound
Steven Yacuta I also recommend Hilary Hahn’s interpretation. I’m not saying it’s better, I’m just saying it’s worth checking out
Why do some people feel they have to tear people down?!! I am sure that Mr. Graeler has many imperfections in his performance as well. On another note, it is a beautiful recording.
Weltklasse.
Surreal, impeccable, beautiful beyond words...GREAT
She reads the comments and I am sure yours made her day :)
What a great playing!
I have been listening to this interpretation for several years now. I've listened to other really good ones. But Ms. Trotovsek has a special place in my heart. I'm still learning this piece (I'm an amateur guitarist) and this interpretation is extremely inspirational. I love you, Lana! Thank you for your great talent, passion and understanding of music!
absolute perfection.
Thank you Mr. Bizjak ! Since i found your upload of this music i have heard it hundreds of times and will continue at this rate i expect. some music does not get old !
Beautifully played, history record!
