“I just re-did the whole fuel system yesterday”….uhhh, nice plane…I’m going to hop out at the next taxiway intersection. Give me a ring when you get back 😅😅 Beautiful plane!!
Yo Bobby! Love the episode. Really cool and unique airplane! Oh....and you really picked well with your new host of Flying Doodles. Emma exceeds any requirement for the "Doodles" brand. Beautiful and smart.....also seems like she has nerves of steel. Love her!!
Ive always wondered about these. The technique sounds like flying a fast/military jet, no rudder etc. The stall reminds me of a cross between a Rallye and/or a Eurostar (Sportstar LSA) or C42 (3 axis fixed wing microlight), eg like a Sycamore leaf😀👍 In Blighty we dont have stall warnings in many 3A FW microlights, so one has to be aware, as 500fpm sink rate can still happen quickly in Sycamore mode if the pilot isnt on the ball. Exciting aeroplane, superbly equipped, I bet the original owner was gutted (sadly I've seen it all too often). Great video though, thanks for sharing 👍✌️😊💜
You're such a joy to listen to Emma. The ATC seemed not to be aware that if someone is broadcasting with a stuck mic they can't hear anyone on the same frequency.
Although I am a backcountry bushman (or amphibian) by nature, canards have always attracted me. Someday soon, I will start building a LongEz for cross-country efficiency. Thanks for the great video.
Outstanding video! Really enjoyed it and I didn't realize there wasn't much GA traffic in or out of Alliance. There's a lot of commercial traffic for sure! We live about 9-10 miles from it and picked up a Golden Retriever rescue pup that a GA Cessna flew in to us from Odessa back in May. Please keep up the great content and you're doing a great job bringing the channel back!
Great meeting you at the event! We left this one and flew down to Port Lavaca for live music and warbirds and ran into a friend of yours, Jeremy with Vintage Tours!
News flash, controllers will simulcast the announcement of a stuck mic on guard (121.5) that all commercial operators must listen to, and recommended that all general aviation should listen to if able. Be careful about being critical of things you don't know about.
According to Marc Zeitlin, the Roncz canard is suspected (by John Roncz, the designer) of having a critical Mach # of about 0.5 mach. If the Velocity canard has the same airfoil as the Cozy and LongEZ. The canard at higher airspeeds the center of lift keeps moving aft on the airfoil until it loses lift. That puts the airplane into a dive that is unrecoverable, because the airspeed keeps increasing. At an unpressurized service ceiling of 25,000, 0.5 mach is about 300KIAS. 220 was picked as a round number that is close to 75% of the Mcrit at a reasonable max service cieling. There is also an issue of elevator flutter on canards, but that's a much longer discussion.
24:31 Yep. Hot hot in Texas summer and a great place to cook is in an unaircondontioned cockpit! When I was still flying I’d get out of the plane with the seat of my pants soaked in sweat.
i had a super flight in kent, on one of the hottest days of the summer. got out of the aircraft cool as cu. the joy of open-cockpit aircraft ............ tiger moth kyah kyah kyah
That is the coolest-looking private plane I have ever seen. I'm going to have to build a radio-controlled version. I wonder if the plans are available for the home built? If you have any more information that would be great? I would love to build a 1/4 scale version to fly radio control.
So this is our plane and you actually can’t hit the prop. The wings are so swept back that the wings would hit before anything but that just can’t happen.
Thanks for the video. Excellent airplane! I've been flying mine for over 9 years and love mine but I have not found some of the things Daniel describes to be accurate. Mine has the Continental IO-550-N27B rated at 310 HP. Accordingly, I can get max cruise of 205 KNOTS burning 14 gal/hr. If I run lean of peak to 11-12 gph I can get 195 Knots. Also, don't understand what he is saying about the rudders in cruise, mine are effective in all regimes of flight. Because my kit was an early kit, I have separate rudder actions which means I can apply both rudders simultaneously and achieve excellent speed braking effect in all flight regimes. However, all these aircraft are home built and all built a little bit differently, so your mileage may vary.
I'd been watching Part 103 planes & a Canard popped up in my feed..... lol, very cool, kool, and kewl planes but then I realized the Canard wasn't a Part 103. It's alright, it's still one I watch & yesterday the Velocity popped into the feed. My immediate thought was if they were from the same builder or place? They have to be related but I digress; this plane is almost exact but faster & I do like it ! What's not to like? Thanks for the video. peace & GB
I rediscovered this channel after years of not seeing anything from it. Can someone tell me who this girl is and what happened to the guy who used to run this channel? Just curious!
Oh that brings back memories. Alliance was a iot less busy in the late 80s when I was doing touch n goes during my basic private pilot training. Oh and my first soli was at Spinks !!!!!
I would get your aircraft checked out by the factory. There is something wrong with your ailerons if you are having them catch like that. I have built and owned my velocity for 25 years and my ailerons do not do this. They are smooth through full range. I’ve heard of others that have had this happen. Typically the ailerons are not set correctly or are not built correctly.
Agreed. I had this issue with mine… at higher speeds it would hit point of resistance, then jerk past it. We adjusted the rocker arm position slightly and fixed the issue.
You are limited but field options and runway lengths in these because the don't have flaps. The twin version is twice as cool but also kind of a death trap
If you have VGs installed and fly it 80 on final, you can easily get them stopped in 1500 feet. I’ve had my Velocity in and out of 2500 foot strips many times and close to gross weight. Most pilots fly the Velocities too fast on final.
Albeit these aircraft are some serious expenditures of $$$... the aircraft are NOT the most expensive, high maintenance, and dangerous entities presented in this video.
I met Daniel at Airplanes and Coffee in Sulphur Springs last May. He’s a nice guy and his Velocity is absolutely pristine.

One of the best episodes of Flying Doodles ever. Loved that opening segment, flying out early morning.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@FlyingDoodleslet's have more of that, please! Perhaps you can liven up the viewing interest even more😊
Agreed! The opening segment was fun! That Velocity is quite the rocket ship! You're doing great, Emma!
Came here to say this. Emma is crushing it!
Was going to say the same thing. Very well done! A step in the right direction and I’ve loved the channel already!
The beauty of good aerodynamics, dynamic, stability at its best. 😂 hands off plane goes up, and magically goes down😮amazing.
“I remember my first Cirrus” 😂
The mic and ads-b issue where fun to hear on the radio - even the diode comment was so neat to listen in on for me
Awesome video and clean flying

Great video the highlight for me was the Mooney ahead of you, my dad owned it for ten years.
What a nice looking plane!
Pretty lines!
That's a fast little booger, Great Episode.

Liked the view at coulter field that’s the cardinal RG that I fly sitting on the ramp. Love to see it.

Saw one of these parked at DFW last week, looked like something out of a James Bond film!
Great video Emma

Rudders can both work well to manage approach slope at those speeds, and to help induce roll, also at lower speeds.
Beautiful airplane, well done!
You keep getting better with every new episode. Awesome content!!!
What a great looking ship!
Good episode, cool plane. I like the short vlog segment at the beginning...consider making that a regular thing.
Great meeting you at the event! We left this one and flew down to Port Lavaca for live music and warbirds and ran into a friend of yours, Jeremy with Vintage Tours!
News flash, the person with a stuck mic cannot hear ATC asking them to release their mic. I would think they would know that.

Nice opening not being technical all the time is a plus.

Amazing video Emma !
Curious how you prevent prop strikes on TO and Landing. Is it just proper pitch control and being "very" careful?
So this is our plane and you actually can’t hit the prop. The wings are so swept back that the wings would hit before anything but that just can’t happen.

Thanks Eli. That comment means a lot.
Cool plane. My partner & I are building a Velocity!
Waiting for this Velocity to come back to market 😁
It’s for sale now
Thanks for coming to Airplanes and Coffee.

Hmmm 200 mph and the 198 to 200 kts as he said in begining, are two very differnt numbrs. 200 kts is 230 mph and 200 mph is 174 kts.
I don't like how narrow the footwell is on the velocity airplanes. It looks extremely uncomfortable

Please find places to do the flights where we don't have to listen to the radio the entire time. It's actually stressful. Great content otherwise.
