What makes the Beeves fight even funnier is there's an upgrade to the shield just outside the boss door. The upgrade reflects anything that hits the shield. So you can just stand on the middle platform, shield up, and Beeve's will defeat himself.

They did this with the Zelda games. They actually stopped the Between Worlds playthrough for 10 years and did the same jokes a decade later without knowing it.

@@resileaf9501 not sure about anyone else, but when I pick up a game I haven't played in a while I am actually aware of the fact that I have probably forgotten a bunch of mechanics, so I actually dig through the menus and items and things to see what all I have access to. I really don't see how taking literally one minute to go "what do I have right now? oh, I can do that, cool." is so hard for Arin to do.

I was gonna comment 2:09:07 'haha vinny jumpscare' but then Arin yelled "VINNY VINESAUCE!?" and actually startled me. Hearing Dan give a shout out to Red Vox on top of that was super cool, too.
Glad you guys finished this playthrough, you guys really stuck to it and it was a lot of fun to watch!
What more fun at 1:45:55 is that this cutscene is the only cutscene in the entire game that you cannot skip.

Fun fact: The mini game where you close all the doors is from Hotel Mario, another CD-I game that I’d love to see the Grumps play.
I also would love to see them play Hotel Mario!
Another fun fact, you can use the Save & Return to Level Select menu option to effectively perform an Escape Rope function.

I cried laughing throughout this whole episode, sucks to hear they weren't going to finish the game because of relatively low viewership, this playthrough is phenomenal

I would adore any collaboration between these boys and Vinny. In my wildest dreams, we get a Vinny Guest Grumps, and a musical collab between Danny and Red Vox. I think their styles would compliment each other REALLY well.

you have such an expressive and fluid style of art, arin. i've missed it so much! im sure many people have. ive always loved the way it just seems 'purple' throughout to my eyes. i think its something about how you do the lines. your arzette was adorable!
As an Aussie, I can confirm that video is NOT fake, we dont' get TORNADOS in Australia, we get wind funnels, that is to say they are LIKE Tornados, but a Tornado is a classification, as in it's a big mother that sucks up your house, car, family, etc. A Willy Willy is often called a Mini Tornado, but it actually fits outside the classification as it's too small... The point is they are real, relatively common enough in many areas of Australia and they can at most smash a window or two but won't suck you up, they lack the strength to lift very much.
Came looking for this comment ^_^ I remember playing in willywillys as a kid when we went camping. When the weather was just right they'd whip up, super fun when they're small

I think Australia's specialty is that they have silly names, but everything IS trying to kill you. I mean, even the duck billed platypus is venomous! And its just the result of a bunch of old wizards trying (and failing) to draw a picture of a duck.
I love watching them flail with Beeves when the ring can block all of his projectiles, but they forgot it existed and they have it. Good, good stuff!
If Arin had broken the bomb fist walls, he could have gotten an upgrade that makes the ring REFLECT instead of block. Beeves and Nodalki just hurt themselves and you don't have to move.
I love it when Dan talks about NSP with such fondness because he gets to do stuff with people he loves and he has so much fun doing it. It's really rare to see with musicians and only makes me love his music more
15:00 Arin and others who snore loudly while on your back, definitely talk to your doctor about possible sleep apnea. It really sucks and ruins your sleep and can lead to a lot of further health issues over time. You might need a CPAP, and they do kinda suck to wear and maintain but they make 100% difference it your quality of sleep (and help you be healthier in general).
Also, sleeping on your back isn't necessarily the best position for you. It varies person to person (and ailment to ailment). Sleeping on your left side is best if you suffer from acid reflux; sleeping on your right side is better if you have a heart condition, etc. etc...
THIS! I was falling asleep EVERYWHERE for months, even standing up at work sometimes! Then when I ended up finding a work from home job I would need a whole pot of coffee to stay awake for my shift just to pass out doing literally anything in the evening. Got a sleep study done, diagnosed with that apnea (I had 80 obstructions an hour during my study, that's more than an obstruction a minute) got a cpap machine and slept like crap with it the first nights but even with 4-5 hours of consistent sleep I was staying up all day and night no problem. It changed my life IMMENSELY.
Just came here to say this. My CPAP has changed my life.
I think SO many more ppl have sleep apnea than they think. I have sleep apnea and don’t snore almost at all. It’s definitely worth it to get a sleep study, if you can!
i snore while sleeping on my back and have nice deep sleep every day but of course my wife hates it (plus possible health problems) so i'll need to get a sleep study too. thank you!

We were in town for a family reunion and wanted to take us kids there. Well the Twilight movies are far more entertaining than Lord of the Rings, those are boring. I barley was able to sit through them, and that was just the theatrical versions. Way too long. Twilight movies are fun, plus vampires and werewolves are way better than medieval fantasy.

All these years, and I still love the weird way Dan pronounces “Lycanthrope” as “LyCANthrope.”
It gets fudged up because lycanthrope has the same pronunciation as lichen, but the lychanthropy gets pronounced incorrectly as ly-can-thro-pee... lots of people don't pronounce "opy" words correctly unless it's commonly said, like colonoscopy or homeopathy

I hate that this series didn't do super well. I adore this game! This episode in particular just felt like a classic GG episode, like if you go back 7 or 9 years to like Busy Scissors or Devil's Third, it just feels like nothing changed at all.
Oh well. We all age and grow differently, so getting to experience a new stream of consciousness Grumps again despite the years was a special treat. Thanks for finishing this one!

There’s a way to power up so all projectiles repel back. I don’t remember how but that’s how I did it and I laughed at this fight.

I watched this whole playthrough and did not realize how recently it was made. They did a great job of passing it off as a 90s platformer, but it does explain how clean and snappy the actual gameplay looks while keeping the artstyle very old-school.

I for one was waiting for yall to play this ever since it released, thanks for finishing it up.
I love that Arin gets tilted during the battle against Beeves and *never* stops being tilted for the rest of the episode.
