I have NO IDEA WHY, but I guessed Jacks BCA. I know its pretty much THE LINE of the height of wrestling. I just never see BCA's on your channel too much so I thought I was on to something as a hail mary. I guessed the vibrators, bendies, titontrons/R3 (I kinda put those two together in my head). I totally woulda' guessed the remcos if I would have remembered them lol

We share a lot of the same opinions of bad wrestling figure lines lol.
    5. WWF TTL - I used to love the WWF Bone Crunching Action figures. So imagine my disappointment when the BCAs were ended so TTLs could take over. The entrance music was a neat gimmick but the figures looked bad, especially the head sculpts. However a few years in, Jakks gave us Real Scan on the TTL figures and improved the arms. The Real Scan heads looked so good that they actually got me to collect some of them back when they were coming out, and the Real Scan heads are the reason they weren’t higher on my list of least favorites.
3.- 4. Tie WCW OSFTM (LJN), WCW OSFTM, WCW OSFTM Vibrating figures - I feel like WCW had a lot of bad figure lines back to back, while searching for what worked. The Galoob figures may have required some imagination because the lack of articulation, but featured some of the best wrestling figure sculpts. But after the Galoob figures, I feel WCW figures went downhill. The LJN inspired OSFTM figures were a step back to the no articulation of the LJN and Galoob figures at a time when figures should have been moving forward. The next set of OSFTM figures added articulation, but looked bulky and cheap. Then after that they made the vibrating figures, which again looked bulky and cheap…and vibrated for some reason. But WCW would bounce back with their Toybiz figures.
    2. R3 - The scans on these were great, but I hated the figures. I had a few, but the only one that I liked was the Jeff Hardy R3 that I had. The bodies were too small and any figure that shared that Stone Cold/Scott Hall body looked really awkward.
    1. Bend Ems - They didn’t really bend that great, I used to have Bendable Easter Bunny toy that worked better as a wrestling figure than these did. The first few sets had a little charm with the cartoony faces, but that was about it.

I do see why some disliked TTL, especially the early TTL figures with the terrible head scans.
I thought you would include the WWE Flex Force series (horrible lineup that didn't need to be made. Probably why I disliked Mattel's early WWE figures) and WWE Backlash series (lazy reuses of leftover TTL live parts).

    5. Titan Tron Live - the early waves were some of the worst figures ever, but I keep TTL at 5 because they did improve over the years and we got some pretty exciting figures with sublines like Rulers of the Ring.
    4. R3 - Yeah, these were really bad and the hype early on didn't help. I thought we were getting every figure with an original scanned body mold. I did like a few of the figures like Benoit, Jericho, and we got a truly giant Big Show, but the rest was garbage. And they even had to ruin the legacy of that Big Show using the body with the two strap singlet for the first CS Andre.
    3. Remco - I never liked these although they do have a little charm to them.
    2. The Bendies - I just don't get the appeal and when I got back into wrestling and collecting and was hungry for anything new, I felt like these were clogging up the pegs at Kaybee.
    1. San Francisco Toymakers WCW - Just the worst looking figures ever IMO. Again I'd be in my Kaybee wanting to leave the store with something and it felt like these figures were everywhere.

  • @80sCountryKid

5 - tie between WWF Bendems and Jakks Bonecruncher/Slammers. These came out long after my playing days and before my collector interest was reignited with Classic Superstars.
4 - LJN thumb wrestlers - I was an LJN kid, but these sucked! Only one I have today is Piper…only because he’s a favourite of mine.
3 - ToyBiz - WCW (regular and bendables)
2 - REMCO - you and I must be close to the same age Kyle, because these did nothing for me either. For whatever reason it was perfectly ok for MOTU figures to all have the same body, but not my wrestling toys.
1 - OSFTM WCW (late 90s) for all the reasons you describe. Absolutely horrible!

What a scathing breakdown for the Titan Tron Live line. In truth, yes, those first few waves were awful, but they did not in any way, shape, or form taint the entire line. The "likenesses" in those first few waves were the stuff of nightmares.
But dude, in my humble opinion, TTL is on my list of top 5 favorites. JAKKS was able to improve upon the line pretty quickly, and it had infinitely more positives than negatives. Once JAKKS rolled out the "Real Scan" tech, the likenesses got way way better, and there started being more of a variety in body types and with better articulation and deco. Those figures eventually became the best money could buy in the pro wrestling fandom. Just as well, this line was on the cutting edge of accessories. Tons of playability came in the form of weapons of every conceivable shape, size, and functionality (a few of which were holdovers from the beloved BCA days), rings (both basic and complex (and later Real Scale)) and with accessory packs including ropes and aprons for every major event of the day, ringside area accessories, whole interactive backstage area sets (like the Trash Talkin' Stage, Hall Of Pain, and TRAX West), some super sweet championship belts (so good they remained relatively unchanged till the day JAKKS lost the license), and of course, the two Titan Trons. I can still remember a time when I looked forward to the "Grapple Gear" sets just as much if not more than the figures themselves. This line was the gateway, the introduction. Without it, there would be no Classic Superstars - a line that carried over and used a great many accessories, items, and body parts from its predecessor all while improving even further upon the action figures themselves.

    I agree with this list.
Those Remcos were before my time and remind me of third party/off-brand He-Man figures.
The Titan Trons had some interesting sculpts and things going for it, but the uniformity and strange choices don't really gel too well. I would say that, maybe, the Rikishi figure still holds up, along with a few others.
The Bendies are cool for picking up your favorite characters but not for collecting all of them.
I missed the R3, thankfully, as the Titan Tron era eventually turned me away. I only recently got back in to the hobby after picking up some of the Mattel Elites of some of my childhood favorites.
Great video as always, man. 😎

  • @kjuergens1985

I agree about OSFTM WCW, Remco, and TTL. I never collected the Bend-Ems, but I loved that they existed. I loved that they kept going. I mean, the bone-crunching figures, which may not have been the aesthetic peak of wrestling figures but were sturdy and playable, had been discontinued and replaced with those awful Titan Tron Live figures. And yet...here we are in 2000, and what's that over there? Hey, it's a Bend-Em from 1997, and a few new ones! I took comfort in the fact that a line/series that dated back to the later "new generation" era was still going. That said, I agree about the sizing issues. Also, the Sable figure was really hot. // R3 was a nice idea, poorly executed. So ugly. I remember buying the blue singlet RVD...never have I been so disappointed with a figure of my favorite wrestler. But a small few hold up well, like the Kurt Angle figure.

  • @phantom1592
    @phantom1592 2 года назад

I gotta say the nostalgia/hate is a fascinating thing to see. I know you love LJN, but hate the Bendems? That's kind of what the LJN was supposed to be... but better. You love Hasbro, but don't like the WCW because of the cheap looking plastic and weird poses... I get it, I'm in kind of the same boat there. but it's still fun to watch. Everything you say you hated about some lines... is the same thing others complain about the others.
Myself, The Remco were my very first wrestling figures. I found a Ring that came with at least 4, maybe more figures... I had no idea who the AWA charcters were... except MAYBE the Road Warriors were just coming to WWF, but Fabulous Freebirds were nothing to me, Can't remember if there were two more included or a referee, but that's the only Ring I ever actually owned. I ended up using the ring a lot for my He-man figures so it wasn't a total loss
Ironic that mattel recently released an actual Grayskull themed wrestling ring :D

LJNs were my first figures I spent a million hours with. Bendems came out later and seem like a gas station toy to me with everyone in the same position, small and a weird mix of sizes. 4) Mattel Retros. I feel about these the way you feel about the OSFTM figures you have at number 4. These aren't like the Hasbros to me, these are lame Playskool looking toddler toys.
    3) Jakks Slammers series. BCAs were perfect, they didn't need actions.
    2) Any and all Bendies. I hate them. They suck, they smell bad, you can't do anything with them. Awful.
    1) Titan Tron Live. Like you with the end of Hasbros and beginning of those awful Bendies. I was, and am still, a die hard Bone Crunching Action guy. Thought the TNA line would be on here. Random scale, random articulation, random quality (some likeness great, others not so much). Some had action features, some didn’t. Owned a bunch, be recognize they were a hot mess.

These are all very worthy of the distinction of worst wrestling figure line. I have to put FTC in my own personal bottom 5, though. Such a disappointment.
