.45 AP (Which is VBR Paralight 6.3mm IIRC) doesn't even have it's velocity represented well in game. It's a 4.5g tool steel projectile traveling at like ~580m/s, it's faster and heavier than it's 9mm cousin. As it is it's definitely the highest DPS ingame and even with only 36 pen armor is kind of immaterial to it, because @ 70 damage it'll instantly gut someone or remove limbs even when poorly aimed. What I'd like to see for .45ACP is the Lehigh 120gr XDs, either Copper or Brass as a mid tier option between FMJ and AP. 115gr 10mm XD @ ~1300fps manages to get through IIIA, the 120 gr .45ACP XD moves @ ~1350fps, so should definitely float around 29 pen. Oh and yeah there are 40 round drums as well as another upgrade.
Tried it a few times, it's a fun gun, really satisfies my desire to dump mags into people. The horizontal recoil reminded me of the UMP as it bounces quite a bit so you really need to be close. Up and personal it's a great gun. Too bad my aim and reaction time suck in general.

I've had a lot of success with the .45 vector running it as leg meta. Given that even the AP ammo is subsonic you won't be going for longer range shots anyway so there's not that much downside to running other sub sonic leg meta ammo. RIP does incredible damage, hydroshock is very good as well. Given that most (if not all?) frequently used lvl 5 armored rigs don't have stomach protection, as well as slicks and hgrids. Honestly to anyone being bored by our favorite bitcoin farming simulator, give it a try.
I went to Shoreline Resort with the .45 Vector with no armor with AP rounds. On the second story of the west wing, just beyond the jump over the barbed wire i sat waiting to hear something before i pushed to the east side. Sure enough i hear 2 sets of foot steps coming from the west towards my position, i waited wondering if they were above me or below. But once i heard the jump animation along with the sound of barbed wire i knew they were just around the corner. Once the first one jumped i immediately side strafed into the room on the opposite side of the hall while holding down the trigger. Within 3 seconds i was in the next room reloading as all went silent. So i assessed the situation, it was 2 super sweaty boys both rocking Killa armor with the one in front with razor headset and the one behind with the Killa helmet. They both laid in a perfect line on their backs as if i hit them with a cannon ball, i inspected the body's and learned that i shot through both their chests without a head shot because the helmets and vizores were undamaged. While going through the loots i counted the rounds of M995 from their M4's. They never got to fire a single shot that raid, they were completely prepared to wipe the map only to get Brrrt down by a speedy boy with a .45

Fun fact since you’re one of the only RUclipsrs that brings it up. Almost NONE of the high tier, two piece bullet, armor piercing sabot rounds will feed into semi-automatic weapons. Not just the AP ammo for the vector. The two part bullet catches an feed ramps and causes a failure to feed EVERY TIME. SSA AP can’t be shot in semi auto rifles. 7n31 can’t be shot through semi automatic weapons If it has a two piece bullet it doesn’t work outside of belt fed machine guns and manual action guns. Period lol.
I hate the 9mm vector out of principle. Its like they're saying: "Let's take a good, well balanced gun and make it just stupid to pander to people who are scared of change."
I hate it because they nerfed the VAL because A. Too many people used it B. Meta HK users complained it was too good at close range AKA what it was designed for C. It was relatively easy to find Then they added the 9mm Vector like nani-tf
The recoil difference between the 9mm and .45 ACP vector may be minor, but the increased RoF is what makes the .45 a completely different beast. . That 16% increase in RoF combined with the largest mags being 30 rounds means you have just under 1.5 seconds of fire time per mag. Compare that to the 9mm Vector with almost 4 seconds of fire time per 50 round mag. Here's the issue with both guns: The MPX exists, with cheap, good ergo 41 round mags, and the abilities to make it into a feasible medium range weapon utilizing 7N31 and the long barrel, or you can make it a short loud, just as low recoil SMG. The only advantage the Vector holds is packaging - as a vector will always be smaller than the MPX. What you save in ammo using the .45 vector you spend in mags and the gun itself.
ima say one thing bout this that im kinda against it wasnt BSGs choice to give the 9mm vector a 50 rd drum the kriss vector IRL takes glock mags, and since we have a vast array of 9x19 glock magazines already ingame, you can do the rest of this lil puzzle yourself. what we DONT and DIDNT have are 45 ACP glocks and magazines, so they literally modelled and made the 45 acp glock magazines EXCLUSIVELY for the gun. i got some good news though -- there exists a 40 rd 45 acp drum for the glock, so we might be able to expect it soon :)
I'm part of the Saiga-9 SMG Gang, the semi-auto only limitation sure is annoying for plenty of CQB but when playing smart and aiming well you can pop heads and bit a bit more conservative on ammo, thus allowing you to use AP 6.3 or 7N31 9mm rounds for that good headshot potential against players, plus insurance is great with it! most people would take the mods on it sure but they'll just leave the gun behind and never bother taking it from ya!
An also very ignored factory is that .45 ap has 48% armor damage, so if it don't pen, it destroys the armor VERY quickly. You can actually kill Killa with less than a mag of .45 ACP AP, and the same goes for tagilla, who is literally wearing class 6 with over 1200 health. I've killed TAGILLA in less than a mag with this gun. The ammo is not just an upgrade from ap 6.3 it is a direct competitor to 7n31 with 1 less pen, but 20 more damage. The fact it does 20 more damage is exactly why it destroys, combine that with it's pretty insane armor damage means you're gonna zero out armor in like 4-10 bullets and then just immediatly kill them. IT KILLS TAGILLA AND KILLA IN LESS THAN A MAG. I never understood why people don't run this gun constantly. I don't bother with the 9mm variant because it's better off just selling the ammo and buying 45 ap

I don't understand why armor piercing 9mm couldn't be fired through a kriss vektor, they recommend against +p+ because of wear and tear but that wouldn't stop you from firing it even a little bit
There is a problem with that specific bullet design - the 7N31 has exposed hardened steel penetrator. This causes it to tear the feed ramp of any weapon it's ran through, with the exception of three Russian weapons that both are pressure rated for 7N31 - this stuff is a bit hotter than most 9mm +P+ loads, and have special feed ramps (if I had to guess, probably from hardened steel as well). These weapons are PP-90M1 and PP-2000 SMGs and the GSh-18 pistol. There is slightly less powerful 9mm Para ammo developed by Russians called 7N21 that is compatible with more weapons, two of which are in the game - MP-443 and PP-19-01. The same thing would most likely happen if you tried to run the AP 6.3 ammo through some guns - it would render them useless after some time. The .45 vector does get used less than 9mm vector but it is by far not the "most underappreciated gun in tarkov", I think the most underappreciated gun in tarkov is anything in .366, ammo is stupid cheap and it's pretty comparable to 7.62 bp, except the guns are like 10K on the flea market and the suppressors are also 10K. Last I checked a five seven costs 30K.
no what it needs is an extended mag the foregrip is good enough that gun is a beam i plow people from many yards away but very often have maybe 2 o 3 bullets left after the fact sometimes even had the last bullet finish off the guy rare but atleast it never fails
while i agree that the .45 acp vector is definitely a viable gun, i wouldn't say that it's good. its penetration is similar to ss190 so it doesn't do so well against class 5 and 6 armor and often times a ulach is good enough to survive a headshot. it'll definitely shred class 4 and under, but with the timing of this video coming out i feel like most people are running class 5 armor as a minimum, or at least I am. i would also argue that the p90 is better just because of the larger magazine size. i think trading fire rate for the mag capacity will help you survive more situations.

The reason its not is 100% because of the 50 rounders on the 9mm vector, it also doesnt really matter how much pen your ammo does too since head eyes

9mm version empties its mag in ~3 seconds, .45 empties it in ~1.6, assuming 50 and 30 round mags, respectively

I ran it constantly in tarkov before this wipe, funnest gun I've used and I've used it in labs with shocking events such as killing an altyn chad.

This causes it to tear the feed ramp of any weapon it's ran through, with the exception of three Russian weapons that both are pressure rated for 7N31 - this stuff is a bit hotter than most 9mm +P+ loads, and have special feed ramps (if I had to guess, probably from hardened steel as well). These weapons are PP-90M1 and PP-2000 SMGs and the GSh-18 pistol.
There is slightly less powerful 9mm Para ammo developed by Russians called 7N21 that is compatible with more weapons, two of which are in the game - MP-443 and PP-19-01.
The same thing would most likely happen if you tried to run the AP 6.3 ammo through some guns - it would render them useless after some time.

The .45 vector does get used less than 9mm vector but it is by far not the "most underappreciated gun in tarkov", I think the most underappreciated gun in tarkov is anything in .366, ammo is stupid cheap and it's pretty comparable to 7.62 bp, except the guns are like 10K on the flea market and the suppressors are also 10K. Last I checked a five seven costs 30K.

okay talking about the underappreciated, my boi ump just needs a muzzle brake or silencer attachment update and its good and cheap
no what it needs is an extended mag the foregrip is good enough that gun is a beam i plow people from many yards away but very often have maybe 2 o 3 bullets left after the fact sometimes even had the last bullet finish off the guy rare but atleast it never fails
while i agree that the .45 acp vector is definitely a viable gun, i wouldn't say that it's good. its penetration is similar to ss190 so it doesn't do so well against class 5 and 6 armor and often times a ulach is good enough to survive a headshot. it'll definitely shred class 4 and under, but with the timing of this video coming out i feel like most people are running class 5 armor as a minimum, or at least I am. i would also argue that the p90 is better just because of the larger magazine size. i think trading fire rate for the mag capacity will help you survive more situations.
u can craft ap, and 7n31. You can hold more ammo in the 9mm.
