I love John Herdman, he laid down the foundation... We earned our spot in the World Cup with Herdman at the helm and his merry band of "brothers." But moving forward, everytime I hear Jesse Marsch speak, his knowledge of the game blows me away. He's a guy with a very high pedigree of European experience and some experience in CONCACAF... And ultimately, Jesse Marsch strike me as an erudite (soccer) professional and I wouldn't second guess him... Let's give Jesse Marsch the benefit of the doubt to help move Canadian soccer forward.

69gvfb, I don't like to see us tearing Herdman down, in order to make Jesse look better. That's not necessary.
Herdman inspired this team & our nation through the 2022 qualifiers & vs the #2; ranked team in the world at that time (Belgium). He did make a large, non Canadian error by taunting Croatia before our match with them; but other than that, he was excellent.
Now Jesse is taking that foundation & building upon it.
They both have already had an important part to play in what looks like a potentially very successful National team.

This whole recruitment of dual-nationals is a waste of resources.
Better to invest all resources into youth development/infrastructure to ensure
    1. the next Bombito is identified at age 15, not 23.
    2. The next Shaffleburg doesn't have this crazy circuitous route to the big leagues.
It will be a huge task in scope from improving the skill set of volunteer coaches in house league all the way to getting sponsorship $$ into academies. There is too much of an American mentality at the rep/academy level for showcase tourneys to attract NCAA scholarships. In practice, it drives costs , generates burnout and frankly parental fatigue. The European academies put more emphasis on practice, team tactics over tourneys.
