Kanye is an intelligent rapper.. rappers use metaphors and punchlines all the time where they say things.. and those who know, know.. but many times we don’t know what their metaphors mean... so when he’s sitting here explaining things without breaking down what exactly it is or who it is that he’s talking about.. I take it that he figures.. those who don’t know can go look it up.. but those who do know.. they know what’s up. Kanye seems wise in my opinion..
That’s a reallllllly great point! When I was younger I listened to a lot of rap/ hip-hop (Eminem, DMX and Dre mostly) and they would often say things and I had no clue what they’re talking about. I see what your saying and why, but I dont see it as wise so much as arrogant. And yes, also narcissistic. It really is great that they were able to get him to kind of rethink and own his point of view, but for me, it doesn't change what he's saying. And I believe that racism in any form is wrong. No matter who it is. No color, no group of people should ever be judged by the actions of a few. And for those actions to be judged because of jealousy is really no better than judging them out of fear, or not understanding. But, this is only my opinion. I absolutely see a lot of narcism in his words and actions. And ive only seen whats been shown here and not the full thing. I dont think I really want to see the whole thing, so I appreciate that things were cut.
As a survivor of long term narcissistic abuse, at the hands of both narcissists and borderlines, I can say with absolute certainty that Kanye is a grandiose narcissist. He fits all of the criteria. I applaud Kim for finally be able to get free of his endless control, manipulation, belittlement, and emotional and psychological abuse. I hate how many people believe and enable his nonsensical delusions of simultaneous superiority and absolute victimhood, and allow him to demonize and discard his exes.
Stop being a flying monkey of his, and stop making excuses for his insanity.

It’s possible he might be autistic not narcissistic. I know people who talk like they expect others to know what they are talking about and they are not narcissistic but on the autistic spectrum.
@truelove I thought of that also! I’m autistic and my boss pointed something like that out to me. My brains sometimes go so fast that my speech can’t keep up, especially when I’m in a meeting. Then I go to my safe place and it tends to be a bit too technical for the rest of the group.
It’s a three year old mindset to think that people can read your mind (or know what you’re thinking). Wondering if a part of him is arrested at age 3. I’ve heard of Kanye and don’t really know much about him. He seems unstable, given his public behavioral outbursts. He smiled while he talked about how is music hurts. Smiling with hurting others is a sadistic behavior. Or, he is wanting others to empathize with him (get him) or others who are hurting.

I found it really weird when I couldnt find the video after pausing it for a bit, but I'm glad you reuploaded it! I am a psycologist student who has always struggled to udnertand basic body language and body cues from people, and your videos make is so much easier for me to udnerstand the world and waht otehr peopel are thinking. Ye needs to get over himself and come back down to earth. I think his success has caused him to lose touch with reality. I'm sure the people he has a beef with are the same people who made HIM successful! 1st world problems for sure.
These hosts are great. It's not their job to censor but to dig deeper. And they did.
Preach! I hate that the media is on their case. They way they patiently waited and then got someone who at the very least has heavily narcissistic behavior, to reconsider his position is something many many many have tried to do and have failed. They deserve medals
The "hurt" gestures seemed more like a twisting of the knife gesture to me. When I heard that fragment, I instantly thought "Oh, he means he wants you to feel his lyrics in your heart", but that's just my take. It would also connect to the twisting of the knife gesture as that's usually connected to a stab to the heart.

I agree. I associated hurt with feel. Which is what all artists try to do and what makes them successful or not. For me he is right and not saying anything controversial. He talks metaphorically because that's the mode his brain is on all the time, his artistic side. I see the same in Johnny Depp, just that JD is more poetic, still metaphorical, but not so hard to interpret. But neither speak the way we do.

@@dimitrinicomanis oh no not at all. my life has a lot going on but to sum it up i dropped out, invested my loan into stocks and did well from that, haven’t stopped buying/trading stocks since. i found that i am good at sales jobs and on the side i can still study psych, stock trading, business, etc.

As someone with bipolar disorder, I see the same in Ye. The WAY he is talking, he seems manic. He sends of manic energy. Mania would also explain the paranoia, the not totally clear, a little delusional thinking. The bipolar combine with narc traits (which I have too), totally oozes off him. He needs a good therapist and medication. Despite some of what he says, I have a lot of sympathy for him. He is very sick. And thr struggle is clear in his face and body demeanor as well.
Never heard of Azoff. The twisting motion when he says “hurts” could be like he’s sticking and twisting a knife.

ok, "I had to go hug my cat" was the best, best, BEST thing ever! Also, the point about letting them talk and get it all out, YES! Cutting someone off and saying "I'm not listening to this anymore," is sometimes necessary for our own mental health, but NEVER listening and letting them finish is our own ego getting in the way of some kind of understanding. Like you said, you'll never get them to self -reflect if you just cut them off.
37:30 What he’s talking about with “Blueprint of The Blueprint” is that Jay-Z made an album called “The Blueprint.” It’s regarded as one of Jay-Z’s best albums and one of the best hip hop albums in general.
Kanye produced some of the biggest songs on that album, including Heart of The City and IZZO. You would probably know both of those songs if you hear them despite not being a hip hop fan. On a song called “Last Call,” he explained that the Heart of The City beat that he produced became the signature sound of The Blueprint and the album proceeding it, “The Dynasty.”
So what he’s saying is that he created the blueprint for Jay-Z to make The Blueprint. Which is arguably pretty true. There’s no denying Ye’s impact in hip hop. But that doesn’t mean that comparison actually makes sense in this context.
So in layman's terms, he feels he is the creator, puppet master, his "God" complex coming through. So he will just create peace, the end to war. Us mere mortals surely wouldn't understand. Yeah, dude, you are going to need to come up with a real plan if you want people to believe you can make it happen.

My 25 year old son was recently hospitalized and while he was in the hospital he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder experiencing mania. Seriously, listening to Ye, it sounds like bipolar disorder. The biggest problem is people in this elevated state, don't know they're in it. They're just feeling it in a really big way. It's absolutely real to them. They're not self-aware. If he does have bipolar disorder and he's in a manic state, does an analysis of his behavior change?
So I’ve been a fan here for a few months now, but that line about taking breaks from this interview to go hug the cat… that’s it. That does it.

They disagreed with most of what he said but if they lashed out it wouldn’t solve anything. It’s easy to be kind to someone you agree with, we are really put to the test when we try to be kind to someone we disagree with in hopes that they will extent the same cutesy to us and consider our position. I tell myself this before every analysis 😊

Thanks Spidey. I have interviewed many people during my career and when I discovered that letting people talk was the most important thing I could do, I became better at interviewing people? It isn’t always easy to do this, especially when they dive freely down some rabbit holes and you have no idea how or why you got there? But what you discover when there is very important? I feel for the two people that were interviewing, especially since they took flack for this. But because they allowed him to talk they were able to have those stunning moments of realization for Ye. Also, If you had to stop watching and let your cat comfort you several times I think I will skip the entire interview? What I heard was enough, I mean my dog is here and always willing to participate in any comfort moments, but I think me (and the dog) are both good?

True. Listening often pays off.
Throughout the clips you discuss, the way he holds his shoulders in and slightly down indicates an underlying sadness to me, as well as his tone of voice. Wearing a cap indoors when the others are bareheaded seems an odd choice for a narcissist. By continually shading his eyes, and giving himself the option to hide his eyes by just tilting his head slightly, perhaps indicates vulnerability, a need to be able to protect and shield himself. I have not been exposed to Ye (from NZ) so see him as a man who has achieved a great deal, but who is now outside his immediate family circle and without the emotional maturity to fully understand how his behaviour is the thing coming between him and his family and needs to change. I hope he finds the help and comfort he so obviously needs.

The moment when he realized the prejudice and said it was because he was jealous was amazing. I think this gave me insight into why people are prejudiced. In a way he almost seems like a child, realizing his emotions and why he has them. It’s bizarre and interesting.
That’s a classic sign of a psychological illness

He realizes those emotions, but has no interest in reform. He is self aware, but he is not doing the work of integration. He refuses medication, justifies everything he does, and presents as someone who is unwilling and possibly unable to change. This is why his statements/allegations/behaviours become more extreme. Many people with personality disorders can become self aware, but it doesn't change the fact that they are dangerous.
@@yoshi4691 Totally agree. How many times has he apologized for his behavior and then sometimes days later engaged in the same problematic behavior. He’s not interested in change, he’s interested in manipulation. I feel so sorry for his children.

I grew up with a parent who SUFFERED from bipolar who had many manic episodes scattered in very lucid intelligent thinking. His interviews lately remind me very much of what I’m seeing and hearing. His mind is bouncing around and moving so fast that we don’t often follow because we can’t keep up. My father used certain words and language during these episodes that wasn’t quite right, like you pointed out with the hurt comments. He did an interview a while back talking about his experience being forced into the hospital for treatment. It was so like our family history and it affected me so much I wrote him a letter thanking him for his insight and willingness to talk about that painful time. I was crying so hard because I knew that he understood what was happening. His religious rants are something my at her did . As a matter of fact it was the increase in GOD talking to him that often was our first clue that a manic episode was coming. He would get increasingly paranoid about government agencies and such during these times. That doesn’t mean that once the state to were examined independently that some of them made sense. Thank you so much for this ! It’s important that we look a little deeper and set aside our revulsion over some of what he says to really understand his message. I think your analysis and your unbiased opinions help others to see this.

Having been married to someone who had manic episodes, I see so many similarities with YE. And I can honestly say that I don’t think it’s necessarily an “illness”. I think they actually get glimpses of the other side. Voices of “god” or perceived “god” are real. My husband had many profound insights and prophesies that proved true in time. But he also was painfully aware of the evil corruptness in the world, in a heightened way (paranoia). I think there is grains of wisdom in what YE says. It has to be sorted. He is playing the trickster. What can we learn? Time will tell.
@@kyliejones8827 @Shadoe Jones @S B, it is well known that Kanye was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder many years ago and refuses to take meds because as he feels it affects his creativity. I try not to judge him because of his mental illness but some of the stuff he says and does toward women and others can be enfuriating.
I just felt, watching this, that the hosts felt very uncomfortable, almost unnerved by some of the stuff coming from Ye.
I also feel that Ye is heading towards a self implosion. I pray he gets some true help.
Wow! I don't comment often, but I have to say that this was an amazing analysis. I've never understood what Ye talked about, neither in interviews nor in his music, and what he says comes across as extremely disturbing and triggering. He talks as if we know every detail of his life, as if we know every person he has met. I have a friend who often name-drops people I don't know (e.g. 'Alex came to visit' instead of 'my neighbor came to visit') and I always thought that was a sign of being insecure and wanting to look cool. I thought this was happening here as well. Interesting to see you mentioned narcissistic traits since narcissists are also extremely insecure. Maybe he's trying to compensate why being extra grandiose.
Similarly, he keeps repeating his "intelligence" for us to know he is intelligent but it is to the point where it's as if he's not repeating it to convince us but himself

She's a hairdresser so she knows everyone and everything (you know what they say about hairdressers...) and she's always *name did this and said that, and when I tell I don't know who the person is, she brings up all their family tree and all different kind of info about them....and I still don't know who they are!!
Talking to that person is exhausting but I could never point out why was bothering me so much until now
I think it's a sign of a person that is not good at understanding the thought processes of others, he is not thinking of how it sounds to you. I have a friend like that and he often does not add required explanatory detail when speaking but it's not due to arrogance, he's just a genius at math but terrible at communication skills. He doesn't realize he speaks in a confusing way. He's terrible at imagining any thought processes other than his own. He also thinks that lots of people are just as good at math as him (totally wrong) but he thinks they are just too busy or distracted with other things to put in the effort. I keep telling him other people are not crunching cosigns in their head on the fly because they are not capable of it but he has trouble believing me. It's fairly easy for him so he assumes it's fairly easy for others as well, which is actually the reverse of being arrogant.

This was an amazing interview. Your analysis of it really shines a bright light on how powerful the lessons that we can learn from this are. I have not seen the full video. To me that isn't whats important. What is important is that people learn to look at the whole picture not just a few headline grabbers. You have done an amazing job of not only highlighting the impact of the interview on ye but also how the hosts had done a very difficult thing in allowing it to go on to the point where they then had the opportunity to shed light on the issues raised and actually have him listen. So much insight in just the few clips you have chosen.
That last clip. BOOM he's Jealous of the Jewish community. These hosts have done a very difficult thing and that is to make someone who obviously had a very strong hate for a community they saw as unfairly privileged, realize and admit that they are jealous AND that it wasn't the whole community. That is very amazing!
Having lived with a person suffering from mental illness, it was a constant cycle of them being offensive then feeling remorse /apologizing for the behavior, then back to being offensive again. They leave scorched earth for those of us trying to be supportive of them.

"Hurt" - The way he says hurt is a prime example of the way he communicates. He could have said "impact" but he uses hyperbolic illustrative words in an attempt to make a greater impact with his words. I think his hand motion with "hurt" is illustrative of twisting a knife. You can put the knife in to off a person, but you can twist it to make it really hurt.

🤔 i must disagree with the knife idea. I saw it and looking at it carefully you see the fingers are in position as if he were holding a key. If it were a knife it would be a fist.
That’s what came to my mind for sure. Twisting the knife. It has more than just a stab or stab motion.
totally felt the knife...a stab will be damaging but a twist (takes more thought and time) and causes more pain and likely irreparable damage.
Your videos don’t just help me get more understanding about what others may be thinking/feeling, but allow me to analyze myself. I’m not always as emotionally intelligent as I would like, and being aware of what my body is doing helps me better understand what my mind is still trying to process. I think that’s something you don’t get enough credit for. We’re not just voyeurs looking at wreckage of other people’s lives, we also want to be healthy happy versions of ourselves and your vids help me with that. It helps me understand what my own body language is saying to others, and what type of energy I’m bringing into other people’s orbits. Even around the house, I find myself being more aware of when my tough questions may be creating negative environment with my kids or when my wife is passionate about something that I may be dismissive about. Hey Spidey, I love your work and it's teaching me a lot about how to read my clients as well as others. I am a mental health counselor and watching Ye reminds me of someone with Bipolar Disorder in a manic phase that has become delusional and they go into the grandiosity. His thoughts appear to be jumping around going from one thread to another, not always connected, because that's how it is in a manic mind. Of course I'm not seeing this as one continual conversation or monolog, but I see this behavior often in clients. I understand your thoughts about narcissistic personality disorder also, I don't have as much experience with that disorder, since they rarely come in to therapy. I do know that they also become more and more delusional because it's all a delusion. A narcissist has absolutely no self worth at their core, the facade of greatness is what they have created to cover the horrible insecurity they hide. That's why they often have to attack anyone who threatens their delusional facade, being built on sand it's very fragile like their egos. I only just started watching this so I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. Thanks for your work!

Thank you for responding and your kind words. I thought I had heard he had Bipolar and yes they do often co-occur which just really builds on the delusional grandiosity. They are often brilliant, but it gets confused in the instability of their minds. I remember you mentioned a group that helps new you tubers get started, but I can't remember the name you mentioned at the end of one of your videos. @@nancyodell1185 you mentioned these people don’t usually come in for therapy. I understand why to a point. If you have someone like this in your life, like an adult son for a hypothetical 😉, any advice for helping to convince them to get help.
Obviously I’m talking about my son, I don’t know if I think is has narcissistic tendencies, but I would put money on bipolar or something similar. His life is hard, and he usually has only himself to blame for it. Anyone on the outside looking in can see that he is bringing it on himself but trying to convince him of that is impossible. He’s been diagnosed as a child as ADHD but I’ve never felt like that was quite right and after a lot of research and some documentaries about childhood bipolar I can say it’s like reading about my son or watching the story of his life if that makes sense. I have 6 children, if they all behaved the way he does I might think I just win worst mother ever awards but he is so far the opposite of the rest I just don’t even know how to deal with him and now that he’s legally an adult I can’t force his mental healthcare anymore. I do carry him on my health insurance so he can take advantage of it if I can ever convince him but nothing seems to work and I just want him to be happy and healthy and don’t know how to help him. 2 of my other children, identical twins, are autistic so between the 3 of them I’ve run the gamut of mental health services and educational services but I just can’t figure out how to help him or convince him to help himself.
If you, or anyone else for that matter, has any suggestions I am open to any suggestions. Please, just so long as people aren’t being nasty or disrespectful, I will try just about anything at this point!

Conversations are how we learn and help each other. Nobody needs to silence anyone. Nobody has to give you the backstory. Researching for yourself is a good thing and has been lost.
The Blueprint of the Blueprint; he’s referring to Jay Z Album. He produced the Blueprint Album. That Album is said to have given the recipe for success in the Rap Game. He’s saying he is responsible for the success of Rap; so he has the ability to mirror a successful Blueprint for anything else.

I don't think most people gets that we cannot assess his words like we do ours (if we want to be fair). Hey Spidey, Great video as always. Im not a huge Ye fan but i am a huge Spidey fan so I watched it. A few observations/questions here for me.
1. When you were talking about him often talking about things that others don't know and he acts like if 'everyone should know who Cameron Yezzof is'. I wonder if this is a narcissistic trait that he developed over the years. I'll act like you know 'x'. If you admit you don't know 'x', you are admitting that I am better than you. If you don't admit it, it will be hard for you to attack my narrative. Either way, he wins.
2. Messiah complex / delusion of grandeur. Great explanations. Great demonstration of their differences. You could also note that on the opposite side there is the 'imposter syndrome'. Where people don't believe they deserve to be where they are. Or that it will all disappear.
3. Hurt. I think you are correct. A few thoughts... His definition of hurt might be 'rubbing my success in your face'. I think this would fit. And then his gesture is like 'turning the volume up' or 'taking it up a notch'. This isn't very different from what you said but in different words.
4. Rainwater vs facts. Oof. This is why Im not a fan of this guy. lol.
5. The clip with 'they aren't all bad'. Great finds. Yes, the host was great. 'Please say THAT'.
6. I don't understand why the media is shitting on the hosts. They did a great job of letting Ye show people who he is. If he said dumb stuff, the media should judge him, not the hosts.
7. I cannot believe you made that link to the first clip as to why he showed Cameron 'higher' than 'his' people. It makes so much sense and fits so well. It is amazing that you caught that with a 1 and 1/2 hour separation. That is amazing. That is CONTENT we are here for!
8. Ye couldn't hold a candle to Sasha Baron Cohen. He is a creative mastermind.
9. 'I could end war'. WOW! What a douchebag. Sorry, Im trying not to be judgmental but wow. Anyway, yeah, your analysis is bang on there.
My conclusion. I agree 100% with your conclusions. In different words. He's an absolute success story that has gotten detached from the reality but hasn't realized it. He suffers from a Messiah complex and thinks he is brilliant when he learns a fact that is new to him because he thinks that fact must also be unknown by everyone else.

Wow amazing observations through and through! I agree with all of it and I especially agree with the Sacha Baron Cohen thing. In fact, I filmed a segment about that then found it a little too long and removed it. He says he’s in SBC’s level and he says whatever goes through his mind. If he thinks that’s what Sacha Sharon Cohen is doing, he’s very very wrong. The guys Is extremely premeditated, but he hides it well. Ye clearly has no idea what SBC’s level is and him thinking he’s on that level is just another sign of his arrogance

Ye was diagnosed as bipolar, which he has talked about and how he doesn’t take medication for it because he feels like the meds mess with his creativity. This diagnosis could explain the delusions of grandeur. I’m definitely not a fan of Ye because of everything he has said and done, but I do think him being unmedicated is part (not all) of the reason for his actions. (I also want to note that this isn’t true for everyone that is bipolar, and Ye is not representative of everyone, who is bipolar.)

My comment and the way it was worded was a response to Spidey’s speculation in the video on the delusions of grandeur and asking for thoughts on the source of those delusions of grandeur. Since I was thinking about it from that aspect, I didn’t mean for my comment to come off as excusing his behavior (which is inexcusable), but I can see now how it would come off like that. I was focused on the discussion of the source of the delusions of grandeur, rather than someone taking responsibility for their actions and wasn’t even thinking about the responsibility aspect (since I do believe people are responsible for their own actions). I meant for my comment about him being unmedicated as the reason for part of his action as a statement of speculation that if he did chose to take medication, then he might not have the delusions of grandeur and go to such wild and extreme ways when voicing his beliefs and prejudices (again just speculation on my part). Whether he is medicated or not doesn’t change his beliefs and prejudices, which are abhorrent.
Kanye is not bipolar, if he was then he wouldn’t keep refusing medication. He said that to excuse his behavior and manipulate us. He is a grandiose narcissist, he fits every single trait of NPD.

They end up dismissing him as a result. Narcs have similar delusions, but theirs tend to be more grounded (I'll save this company / I'll save this family), which makes it harder for victims to spot because they don't seem to act so outlandishly.

Having said that... my gut feelings about him remain. His only message is "Me." It's exhausting and it shouldn't take two men three hours to show that Kanye cannot figure out what he means or wants to really say. I really appreciate your channel, but this video was really beneficial for me. I'm an extremely empathetic individual but I've struggled to find compassion for "Ye" in his current status. Your analysis was really helpful for me to be able to extend empathy to an individual who is experiencing a mental health crisis. I wish there were someone who could intervene on his behalf and get him the help he so desperately needs.
I had many similar observations, specifically the face touching near the end. I especially appreciated your insight on how the hosts handled things, as I also thought they did well. The moment in which he was "called out" closer to the beginning of your video was monumental, in that it showed Ye taking accountability, which I feel is something we don't see much of in his current mental state.

I love coming home from a business trip and seeing content from you! I tend not to look at body language but listen to what is being said and build a narrative around what I think based on what I know about a situation. Your content allows me to flex in a slightly different way. :) Hopefully, I can put some of these things to use in my profession.
I'm at the 25% mark, the part where you ask us, "what do you think?" Ye, IMO, is someone that has always been eccentric. Most artists or super-wealthy (like some of the people he's associated with over the past few years) are disconnected from reality to varying degrees. What's different between Ye & his environment of acquaintances: he came from humble beginnings but with a mother who raised him to think he is the best thing since string cheese. As an adult, it seems like he has built an "ultimate" understanding of how things work, and he is making statements of opinions as facts.
I had no idea who the kid was that got a job at Apple. But part of me gets it; nepotism is alive and well (which I think explains his speech patterns and body language as he's speaking about the two "kids")...but there are outside factors for that nepotism that I don't think Ye understand. So as he's saying things, he spews info that others may not follow as it can make him seem more credible. People tend not to stop someone who seems to know a lot of "stuff." What Ye gets wrong: you can't do that with race and religion since those are experiential. Yes, there's right and wrong in treating others with respect, etc...but hopefully, you get what I mean.
I think he has signs of narcissism mixed with a messiah complex. Kind of a scary combo if you think about it.

Let me expand upon the layers I put in that statement.
On every clip you showed before your analysis--I was flummoxed each time on whatever it was he was saying.
Nothing made sense to me until you explained it.

Ye still wrong tho, and he BEEN wrong. We (I'm a WOC) are NOT his people--he made that clear time and time again with demonstrable action after demonstratable action and double downed on all of them. Then had the white level of audacity to use us--'his people' to spew hatred to another community out of pure envy?? FOH.
But back to the stuff Ye was saying--
My brother is actually schizophrenic. And these clips put me in mind of my own brother's rhetoric leading up to his psychosis break in which he nearly killed my other brother (he went undiagnosed and untreated-- which is known to lead to such a break). I'm no professional-- but if it looks like and acts like one....

Yes, I'm glad you said that. My uncle was schizophrenic, and Ye and my uncle display a lot of similar characteristics. My uncle was bipolar, with a mild display of schizophrenia. I think a grandiose view is an understatement for Ye. He thinks he talks to God personally. He thinks he is Jesus. I worry this gets downplayed as a him being full of himself. He is very mentally ill.

He’s not well, but his fame and wealth has protected him from realizing how delusional he is because he’s been surrounded by people who applaud him. When you’re young this can look like motivation and big goals, but as you get older and face more failure and still see oblivious to your own faults, it becomes clear that you’re unhinged. I think he looks more insane to those of us who have never lived in the intense “influence” (money, status, Hollywood culture, fame, etc) bubble he’s been in. He needs long term treatment in a residential facility where he can be gently pulled out of that bubble and face the reality that his brain isn’t telling him the truth and that he’s got to fact check his own perceptions constantly. He’s also got to come to terms with his own inner shame and anxieties from his childhood that the lofty goals and delusions of grandeur try to protect him from feeling. If he can’t make some kind of peaceful compromise between who he really is and what goals he can really achieve in the time he’s got left I fear a dark road of substance abuse will be his next layer of defense mechanisms and I don’t see that ending well. I think he’s going to have to face a serious loss of his career before he’ll ever consent to the level of therapy he needs, like we see so often when Hollywood stars that “go into rehab” when they’ve been blackballed or “cancelled.”

As someone who had an emotionally abusive relationship for years with a narcissistic, I find his mannerisms and way he talks to be incredibly similar. It's amazing that the hosts were able to get him to reflect and adjust his wording and thoughts in any way.
Having said all that, he is his own worst enemy and unless he can do some deep diving therapy and get his shit together he will end up ruining himself.
He didn't genuinely self reflect. True narcissists are incapable of that. He just changed his narrative to stay in the relatively favorable spot of center of admiration and attention. Typical of narcissists, Ye is not attached to his principles, but attached to gaining attention that favors whatever his self image of the day is.

Jealousy is the driving force in a narcissist, because it doesnt make sense in their world of grandiosity, that someone else is having more power/influence/money than they have. And the open confirmation of jealousy was not a vulnerable self reflection, but simply another justification for their egocentric behaviour.

I think when Ye is talking hurting people or wanting to 'hurt' people with his music he means he wants to put real pain into his music and that making music about real life situations / emotions causes people to inevitably feel his pain and that makes the music more potent to him... Narcissism mixed with religion is an infuriating shit show- though they seem to feed off of each other
First impressions before watching the video because I saw the interview: Kanye is a dramatic person. He’s theatrical. The way he speaks is alarming to people, and I think a big part of that is on purpose. He has done this the entire time he’s been famous. He showed this same personality in his documentary which started filming in 2002-2003. He speaks in controversial ways to grab people’s attention, I don’t think he has hate or prejudice against any specific protected groups. I think he doesn’t really consider how what he says is going to impact people outside of getting their attention. He knows what he says will be shocking, but he doesn’t really think about the harm in what he’s saying. And he’s always done this. Do I disagree with the things he was saying? Absolutely. Do I think Kanye is a hateful, insane maniac? No. He says things specifically to challenge people’s views. That’s his perspective. I have never been offended by the things he says, even when directed at my specific protected group. He doesn’t come across clear to people who don’t know him, and he does that on purpose. He says things that requires people to really understand who he is as a person to understand what he means by what he says. And it’s very problematic because most people don’t speak this way. He’s going to open himself up to lawsuit as some point if he’s not careful
Update: After watching this video, I should note that I absolutely agree with everything Spidey said. It’s insanely good insight. It’s a better insight into Ye’s mind than I’ve EVER had in the nearly 20 years I’ve been a fan of him.

He strikes me as someone whose mouth often doesn't manage to keep up with all the places his brain bounces and the end result can be cryptic word salad (aka chronic foot in mouth disease), especially for a casual listener.
He doesn't seem like he has actual NPD, but he likely has higher than average narcissism related to certain things (his art, his belief system, his self image) and I get the impression that he has spiraled into an obsession with his religious belief that informs a lot of his current behavior as well as this savior complex.

I currently am going to school for social work and psychology, and taking a culture diversity class. One thing I have come to realize is their is a huge ignorance of each others cultures. What people think of as prejudice or microagressions is just ignorance. I feel this was where Ye was, looking at what he considered a norm and oblivious to the culture he was criticizing.
i disagree with the analysis of his use of hurt. I think the motion is imitating twisting a knife which indicates that he means real pain when he says hurt. I believe kanye thinks the things he talks about are symbolic or representative of the pain he or his community feel
