Always good to see you post again. I was on the Motorsport audio team up until a few months ago (wasn’t a car/engines guy but knew how they did it). So much effort was put into research, references, making sure it sounded authentic, getting approval from the studio and the manufacturer…and then it sounds like farts. Go figure. (I hate the Hyundai touring car for a similar reason, sounds like bees in your nose)

@@ILoveMySharksWhen it sounds bad to hear, you know it felt bad to produce, and brother, they felt that Chorizo every step of the way.
But just to be clear, I'm joking on the "fart sounds" part but not on the working there part. Every car is different and there are multiple frames of reference a car's in-game sound has to thread. What it literally sounded like in person, what people remember it sounding and feeling like (spectating and/or driving), and existing recordings. It has to sound right not just to people who've never heard the car before, but also to the people who own, love, and are intimately familiar with it's sound. Plus all of the game-mix considerations like being able to hear the track and cars around you (it's a game, after all), and it has to not sound terrible on all manner of speakers (from crummy headphones and TV speakers up to Dolby Atmos home theaters). Huge balancing act of different people's expectations and needs of the game.
For this car specifically? Look up videos of the thing (Lexus RC F GT3), it sounds pretty fart-y as it is. The reason why it comes off as less cool is probably because in the game you can't make it as loud as real life, and you can't *feel* it the same way as in-person, which gives the car a certain cool factor. These are just my guesses though, which is hard since I actually think it sounds pretty good. If you're curious about the whole process, the channel GTPlanet posted a video called "Recording Car Sounds for Gran Turismo 7," which is obviously for Gran Turismo from Polyphony Digital, but is a neat look into many of the techniques, the challenges, and their own choices/decisions for making the audio of a racing game.

The real RCF racecar sounds exactly the same as in game, it reminds me of Sebulba's Pod racer from Star Wars Episode 1.

i started using the RC F track edition in online races and i get the same issues with the tires lol. idk what it is with the RC F, they just eat up tires so quickly. i had to start running hard tires for every race
