Why has Peep Show never had high viewing figures? It's one of the best sitcoms of all time, but most people whom I mention it to have never seen it. A high proportion of them haven't even heard of it.
I think it was just one of those shows that went under the radar for a while. I found out randomly about it back around the end of series 5 from this new friend I made when I started college, I'd never heard of it at all before then even though I loved That Mitchell and Webb look, needless to say Peep Show is now one of my favourite shows ever hehe, and everyone I showed/show it to suddenly seem to love it as well! I had a similar kind of experience with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It's our job as fans to make sure we show it to as many people as we can as it's just so bloody good! :L
As an aficionado of ordering the correct amount of Indian food for up to 12 people, including Americans, I have never needed to order four naans. It is indeed, ‘insane’.
I was hoping it would end in the apocalypse. Bear with me: Upon Mark losing what seems to be his chance of true love his heart truly hardens. Jeremy starts skinning up as he sees on the new wide screen that nuclear annihaltion is imminent. Fortunately for the two of them Croydon isn't on anyones list of places worth destroying so they escape the instant vaporisation. After the dust settles Mark immediately begins hoarding resources and after having the only knife sharpener in the entire tower block sets about cutting down rival alpha males. Then using his knowledge of military tactics and strategy from a life time of reading history books and his love of rationing he becomes warlord of all of England South of the Humber with Johnson as his aide de camp, Jez as his dancing slave girl, Andy as his punching executioner and the kids off the estate as his mindless army that he sends forth to wreak destruction. Marks due to cross the Humber and take the entire country when they see a hooded figure standing alone in the middle of the Humber bridge. Mark demands he stand aside or be consumed by marks marauding army. The stranger removes his hood and reveals the legendary figure of the mutant messiah is real. SUPERHANS!
"No Jeremy, it's not my turkey" will always be the funniest line to me. The sheer disgust in Mark's voice combined with a truly absurd statement like that just sends me every time

So much funny !! Seriously though, it’s easy to forget just how funny this series was until you watch snippets like this and you start to remember each episode they’re from. Absolutely brilliant comedy - along with “Only Fools & Horses” this is one of my favourite ever shows on TV.

This show was the pinnacle of centuries of British cultural development.
It was a nuanced exploration of the British psyche. Fascinating and disturbing. The inner monologues of the ancestors of world conquerors.
