I was diagnosed with CKD back in Sept. 2022. I was 100 pounds over weight. The only thing the nephrologist told me to do was drink 3 bottles of water a day. I am doing that. I am also walking 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. In Jan. 2023 I started doing low carb. As of March 4 I have lost 20 pounds and my eGFR has gone up from 46 to 49. Starting today I am following low carb more seriously (not cheating) to drop 80 pounds. Will continue walking and drinking water as well, but I need to lose 80 pounds. Thanks for your videos. They are very helpful.

I watched your hour video… and it spoke to me. last year I was 9 months into my journey of weight loss, lost 50 pounds to get off diabetic medicine, wasn’t drinking enough water, got the flu, used the wrong OTC meds and blood pressure went sky high along with dehydration my kidney function dropped drastically over three months. I partially adopted a plant-based diet and now I’m on only onglipizide 1/4 of a pill maybe once every two weeks… I barely use it. I just got my blood pressure down and your video spoke to me I’m doing everything the nephrologist &dietitian are telling me to do but it seems all wrong because my kidney function is still dropping. I was at stage three now I’m at stage four. so I bought the book you suggested. I completely went plant based the day after watching your video. The dietitian told me I should be eating 5 ounces of protein per day😮… based off what I’m reading in the book I should only be eating like 48- 54g of protein per day. I’m questioning the advice of the dietician… i’m 10 days into going completely plant-based and and I realize it is literally up to me to do the research and heal myself. It is the most depressing and disappointing feeling to do everything. Your doctor is telling you to do and to see your numbers decline. Thank you for making the video you’ve given me hope.

Hi! I just stumbled across your video watching RUclips and am so glad I did. I still haven't been feeling good since my heart attack a year ago and then Parathyroid surgery a few months ago. While watching you I was going over Dr work for my next appointment. In that description of all the things I've had in my life I now see they say I am a pre-diabetic, which I kind of knew but no one ever explained it to me. Also which was the biggest shock was that I have stage 3a chronic kidney HCC. I sat here and cried, I never knew this. I want to make it go away. I will be 71 tomorrow and have alot of things I want to do but haven't felt healthy enough to do them or want to until now when I found out why. I am also having pain in both sides of my back and am tried all the time even right after I get up.. I want to make a change!

People say that glucose is preferred for fuel by the brain and body but i have read that sugar is just more dangerous, that's why the body gets rid of it first.

As a fellow Veteran, I'm wondering if the VA blames CKD on diabetes more often than hypertension? I've read elsewhere hypertension is a root cause of both CKD and T2 diabetes, other than being overweight, which I've never been. I ask because, as one who was exposed to agent orange (dioxin) many years ago, I've been thinking of applying for a VA rating for CKD (presently at stage 3b) secondary to hypertension based upon an elevated BP reading taken during my active duty exit physical, which also showed up in later years as high, but only once high enough to count as hypertension per VA rating schedules (160/110, if I recall). My problem is in getting the VA to realize my BP will shoot up to their minimums if I stop my hypertension and high cholesterol prescriptions, but then I risk not surviving.
Two years ago I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic, but my A1C returned to 5.1 by cutting sugar and most carbs by swapping to keto. But now, going by Glen's results, keto is bad for CKD, and that is something I've learned through your channel and through one of Lee Hull's books.
So in dealing with the VA, my catch 22 is my hypertension will be automatically presumed to have been caused by agent orange exposure, but I risk dropping dead if I go off meds to let it elevate just to prove it. Hypertension and T2 diabetes are both presumed to have been caused by agent orange exposure, but my hypertension is controlled with pills, and my pre-diabetes was beaten back without being diagnosed as T2 diabetic, so it doesn't count. I've heard that CKD can be VA rated as secondary to hypertension, and that is my goal.
I guess my question is, does anyone know if the medical community mostly associates CKD as a secondary disease to hypertension, or does diabetes or some other disorder more often get the blame? Here is an example of one site that associates CKD as secondary to hypertension: www.heart.org/en/health-topics/high-blood-pressure/the-facts-about-high-blood-pressure/what-is-high-blood-pressure

Awesome video and my blood sugar/ bp has always been controlled and isn't the cause of me being ckd but I'm getting into plant based&I buy fresh vegetables. Anyone who is ckd do not take metformin at all my kidney doctor says no to that medication.

Hi I love your videos so much.I do have one question when you started your 90 day journey did you continue to use the prescribed medicines from the doctor like the Metformin and the insulin and others while doing your diet all the way up to the time that they told you you can now remove some of those medicines, or did you just scrap it and do the diet cold turkey without your insulin and metformin etc..?

    • @mrcraftyman

I am trying to follow the raw diet after watching your hour long video. It is not easy. Now I am thinking of cooking only veggies to get a hot meal. No meat and low carbs. I will continue to eat raw as much as possible. What did you eat when you where fully raw? I am doing salads and eating raw for two weeks now. I appreciate your response.
