Maybe. Next year’s team will be a slightly more experienced version of this year’s team, so they may be alright, which admittedly would be middle of the pack. We’ll just have to wait and see who they name as coach, and if that person keeps up local recruiting and keeping the program chemistry in its current positive state.
Hiring Brian Hartline sounds like a desperate move. He's an awesome WRs coach but he's not ready yet to lead the ship. He's a great recruiter but is he even going to recruit well at at Cincy? OSU has been a consistent top 10 team for the last 30 years. So it's unrealistic to think their stud position coach can come in to save the day. Cincy needs someone that will build a foundation and knows how to develop under-recruited talent. That's what made them successful.
Fickle is the northern Midwest kind of guy the B12 isn’t the right fit for him and Wisconsin is too good of a program in a weak division that he can have continued success. I think he did all he could at UC and the timing and program was right compared to previous rumors of him leaving in the years past. I hate to see coaches leave after building something but I respect his patience in waiting to make the jump for the right situation
Only 1 more year of divisions though, meaning thay week ass cake walk side disappears. Don't matter if you beat Illinois, minnesota, iowa etc anymore moving forward
@@DP-nl4uq wisconsin just can't recruit elite talent in the skill positions like OSU, UM, PSU and now USC can. Trenches? Sure. Like I said, 5 years max imo
He SHOULD have waited for Ryan Day to be fired… critical error that will backfire. Wisconsin isn’t the answer as the MAJORITY OF TOP TALENT doesn’t want to go to a Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn State, Iowa, Missouri etc… just the way it is folks.
As a Cincinnati fan, I really like this show and especially when Chad Brendel comes on, he knows his stuff. It’s definitely a weird time to be a Bearcats fan, not knowing who the coach will be. I honestly thought that the school might wait to choose the next coach, especially since the interim coach Kerry Coombs will coach the bowl game and is considered a viable candidate. But Brendel is right. Wes Miller was pulled away from UNC Greensboro in a snap, and the transfer portal is coming awfully soon. Maybe UC acts fast after all. The one thing I know for sure is that I have no idea who they will get. But the profile of the position keeps rising, so our optimism is fairly strong for another good hire.
I HATE That Coaches use CINCINNATI as a SPRING BOARD to Other Colleges!! This was A PUNCH in the GUT! I was hoping Coach FICKELL would Stay at Least a Few years, to Get the BEARCATS Prestige Built up in the BIg 12 first at Least!
I think Fickell made a mistake. He had it made in Cincinnati. He could have had a consistent winner building off Greater Cincinnati high school talent and not be stressed out over an occasional down season because the football focus in that city is on the NFL Bengals. Now he going to a Big Ten that is going to be loaded with USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, a possible rejuvenated Nebraska under new Rhule, etc. Wisconsin has been spoiled by Alvarez and his successors so now a 7-5 record there will get you fired.
But he will be able to recruit on name recognition. All he needs to do is find a good duel threat QB because they have his defensive scheme to make a good defense and Wisconsin breeds under-recruited linemen.
@@patrickn8355 Wisconsin has no shot at a B10 title. B10 doing away with divisions so top two teams get in. Forget about 12 team playoff as well not getting there.
UC was set to have the top recruiting class in future B12. UC is highest paying coaching job in future B12 as well. Fickell could have been in CFP more years than not.
@@shawnm7614 Cincy can't even get the top recruits in Ohio. They never built their program off recruiting, they built it off of talent identification and development. The only way they would improve is if they are pulling guys from Texas and Florida. There is a lot of talent to go around but without a national recruiting budget they can't even afford to scout those regions. That's probably why he left because Wisconsin has the budget to do whatever Coach Fickle wants. The B1G has way more $ then the BigLeftovers and as soon as the players start receiving their fair share of the TV revenue they generate from their labor and health the Big12 will be the BigLeftover Conference. Gary Patterson, just give us 2 years. Allow us to get our feet set in the XII. If you decide to stay after that, good: if not, we have a chance to look around.

He stayed for 6 years and turned down every job offered to him when they started rolling in after year 2 and felt Wisconsin was a good fit for his family. He clearly didn't have 1 foot out the door the whole time as you suggest. Also, your team must be doing incredible if 4 consecutive ten win seasons (5th pending) is "not good" Thanks for being a dedicated hater though!

Lord Rayden is a ridiculous troll. Fickell stayed for 6 years, not 2 or 3. He regularly reached 10win seasons despite inheriting an absolute mess from Tuberville when he first arrived. There are now Bearcats all over the NFL. Paul Finebaum has made it clear that he respects Fickell and the job he did at UC and there’s no talking head more difficult to impress than him. Fickell will be missed, and UC will move on. Not having Lord Rayden’s approval is probably a badge of honor.
