I'm a British citizen, served in the military, and have my own business but my wife and son are from Ukraine. We have to pay an NHS surcharge that is @£750 per person a year a bit like an insurance policy if you like. We don't begrudge paying it but I take great umbrage when I hear people are under some misapprehension and misinformed about what genuine immigrants have to go through to be here. I totally agree that we need to stop the illegal entries. But when a broad brush is used in a rant by someone who has not taken the time to do her research on immigration rules and requirements of entry to the UK my blood boils. My wife had to pass an English test that some British people would struggle with, complete security checks, get inoculated and have a TB test. Attend three interviews on her own so far as I'm not allowed to attend. We even had to go into separate rooms and be interviewed before we were even allowed to get married here even though we had lived together for three years and had been married before in Vinnitsa, Ukraine. Home Office didn't like the look of our paperwork. My wife is a computer programmer and has a Masters degree in Computer Engineering and she was made to feel like a criminal to come to the UK. She is working now and earns a reasonable salary but whilst she's not entitled to any benefits including child allowance she is still paying full tax and national insurance. I really believe that it serves the government not to inform the public about what legal immigrants are entitled to and not entitled to. If people knew maybe there would just be a little less animosity towards genuine immigrants and clear the air for everyone.
@aardvark 11 I was about to applaud your rant until I spotted the "othering" of immigrants and your warped sense of entitlement. So, what about those Afghans, Syrians & Africans fleeing wars? The non-white fellow humans? I'd bet you support us barring those types while we roll out the red carpet for blonde, blue eyed white Ukrainians, right? You merely tasted a tiny fraction of what non-white immigrants experience in the UK. See how that felt? I agree, the treatment of immigrants in Britain is appalling, so let's call that out. But much worse is the added racism towards the non-whites. From your tone, I suspect you unwittingly possess such mindset. Being ex military does not grant you any special favours. Neither should it. This is OUR UK.
@Eleventh Monkey Gaming Yes, I'm aware of the citizen test scam back in the day. Let me explain. As a LEGAL immigrant, you have to live here on a 5-year or 10-year programme before you can take the said "citizen" test. Also, there isn't a way around the benefits system either. Your National Insurance number bars you from ALL benefits for a minimum of 5-years including child allowance. Now I'm all for this but my problem is the disinformation people keep putting out about legal immigrants to the UK. People need to get their facts right and it's no easy task getting in here which is one of the reasons that it is so attractive to do it illegally. You refer to a mess. Yes, a mess created by the Home Office and they should be doing their best to educate the British people as to the difference between legal and illegal immigrants that seem to get benefits.
@Eleventh Monkey Gaming You’re aware that you are basing your views on The Daily Mail and other daft websites that lie constantly, whereas he is talking about a real experience. I am also in the military and my wife is also a foreigner, and she didn’t get free health care while a tourist here, but did pay £750 or whatever it is as part of her visa, and she has never been to a doctors or hospital in 2.5 years. Stop believing the lies because you are a narrow minded bigot that hates people with brown skin. Grow up.

They use immigration policy to their advantage as the easy weapon to drive fear into the foreigners. I am a Spanish citizen. I worked for the NHS as a front line professional for over 45 years. I therefore payed my taxes and NI in UK. Now retired, I needed an operation. The operation was understandably cancelled twice during the pandemic, but the third time I was told that, because I had been too long in the waiting list, I had to go through the whole process of seing my GP, getting an appointment with the hospital again, etc. Because my condition was worsening, it was affecting my everyday life and my general health, I went back to Spain to seek help there. After having all the necessary tests and meeting the surgeon, I had my operation within six weeks because it was deemed I needed an urgent intervention, even though I hadn't been a tax payer in my country for over 45 years, no questions asked. I looked into this a couple of years back...and the most accurate figure for health tourism I could find was indeed about 0.3%. At the time the NHS annual budget was about £100 billion. Interestingly...for that same period, the UK lost an estimated £35 billion to tax evasion. Over a third of the yearly NHS budget frittered offshore never to be seen again. The reason I looked into it is because I work in the NHS, and got tired of not having any figures to hand when I heard stuff like this.
Grow up.
This is ridiculous. The inhumanity stops it from being a farce set in a banana monarchy without bananas

@@felixdyerzinsky4780 you cite illiterate unemployable third worlders-you’re talking about the locals mate…
@@felixdyerzinsky4780 . I think you'll find that many of the "crime ridden, drug dependent, communities" are populated by the "illiterate, unemployable............ indigenous population".
I also think you should get out a dictionary and turn to the page that explains IRONY because although I left the UK many decades ago my name can be traced back 1000 years of UK history.
I can't say the same about yours.
Time for LBC to drain the Swamp too....
The hindenburg just called to send it's condolences for the ratio.. out of touch much?
This woman is truly awful which is why she has a platform. Moderate people don’t generate the emotion like her hatred of her own people does which gives LBC much needed listeners in a cut throat industry that has seen all ad revenues hoovered up by the social media giants
She took it down just like she takes down multiple pies!
WHAT A BEAST!
How dare she!
Nothing but common sense from that woman.
Must be great getting paid a grand a show for doing a sit down job for a few hours a day telling the rest of us we should put up and shut up regardless who wants to come here for free health care meanwhile our own friends and families are having to wait months for treatment. What's in it for us the taxpayer?
Well if the working class will vote Tory they will get long NHS waiting times. Just be thankful we have any immigrants left who are prepared to work in the NHS.
@@MrRailjunkie I'm not being funny but why do you think we have long watiting times? I would say because there are too many people here and not enough investment per capita. Now if immigrants don't use the NHS then their tax take should mean there is plenty of money for the NHS but I can only assume that its a myth that they all pay in more than they take out because we simply dont have the money for the NHS or infrastructure. Therefore the working class had no option but to vote for a party promising to tackle mass immigration as Labour had plans to open the borders even further which would have meant there would soon be no NHS as it cannot cope now let alone after another 6 million in 10 yrs time. At least if we have high earning immigrants or highly skilled then we stand a better chance of improving the infrastructure through higher tax take and less benefits going out. By the way we have always had immigrants working in the NHS but we shouldnt have to have wide open borders just to get the 6% of EU NHS workers we need.
@@maccagrabme don't blame immigrants for Tory austerity, the Tories have been destroying this country for 10 years & continue to do so oh & if Trump gets his hands on our NHS it will be gone soon anyway.
@@MrRailjunkie No one is blaming immigrants. But we blame MASS immigration which is completely reckless and irresponsible and a danger to society. Labour did more damage than any other government when in power and built less housing in 13 years than any one under Thatcher, then helped crash the economy and decided that wide open borders were going to help ordinary working people already suffering. Please don't try to stick up for them, they had their chance to respect democracy but wanted to crush it and reverse Brexit.
She s not said anything about race ...ffs
She was speaking the truth. The immigrants love the wokes sticking up for them.
I was born in the UK and lived there for 30 years. I no longer live there so I am no longer eligible for NHS care. Unfortunately on a recent visit a member of the family had to have hospital treatment. We paid for this with our Canadian insurance. The NHS did a great job, not only with the treatment, but with the help organizing the paperwork so they could be paid. This is how it works and how it should be.
Insurance.......job done.
The NHS will be dead soon I am afraid.
that only applies to people who come here by legal routes. she was talking about people who come here illegally with no documentation who are given free accommodation and health care.
You were born in Britain and you had to pay? That speaks volumes of how the NHS operates. Like everything else in Britain today, it is run to keep the woke agenda satisfied.
@@paulwild3676 You miss the point. I haven't paid taxes in the UK for over 20 years and have contributed nothing towards the NHS in that time. Why should I be entitled to free UK healthcare?
SAY NO TO OPEN BORDERS. We've had enough and the majority agree with us.
The NHS should not have to accommodate multiple different languages and provide interpreters for them at tax payers expense. The main spoken world languages yes, (English, Spanish, French, German etc). But not every minor language going. Common sense is needed. Vote Reform 🏴🇬🇧 unite the country. Look after the working class indigenous British person first before any other chancers, and religious extremists looking to take over and use this country for all they can get out of it. It's happening, have a walk around and open your eyes to the real world love.
My problem with the people that profess themselves as speaking for the working class or ordinary people do so from an angle of fear and hate. It does not mean their concerns are not genuine but to be honest they are keen to divide people rather than solve the issues. When the unions were strong one of the things they were able to do was pull working people of all shades together so that they had a collective bargaining power. So if you were an immigrant you were part of the union and you were not under cutting the local. That's the sort of leadership required, rants don't get you change organising gets you change.
Here, here Mr.OO. Regards.
I absolutely hate it when people say working-class people think and then say something negative they do not talk for me I judge people for who they are not where they come from
that only applies to working immigrants not those trying to seek asylum when they are not fleeing a war.
@@SheilaTitchener It would help if Britain and it's allies don't go around making places undesirable either by creating war or economic warfare. If you are going to make peoples countries worse don't complain when they are at your doorstep.
Excellent point. We are all being divided against each other in so many ways these days, when the average person just wants to get on with everyone.
Shelagh forgets that in the real world people see the effects of open border immigration by looking. It isn’t an attitude they adopt it is their real lived experience. When will you stop mocking British people?
As a tax payer she is perfectly entitled to say on what her money is spent on.
What it should be spent on & what it is spent on is not necessarily the same thing.
7:00 show me where it has ever been a positive.
The woman doesn't know what she's talking about. I worked in the NHS for 30 years. Those people who are not ordinarily resident in the UK which includes former UK residents who are overseas visitors can be charged for NHS services. They're charged at 150% NHS cost; many pay via personal travel insurance. The UK does have reciprocal heath agreements with many countries. Worth looking at the National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Regulations 2015 . I've heard this rant many times from people who not only don't know the FACTS, but don't care to know them.
Consequences of British colonialism
I turned the sound down on her and just read the comments........far more accurate and entertaining!
If you turned the sound down how would you know of the comments are accurate?

Nothing she said was true.
The question time audience member had valid questions. Too many people can't handle the truth.
Health tourism is people coming here for treatments and paying for it. Most health tourists go to Harley street clinics and private hospitals where they pay a lot of money for the services received. A person cannot access free NHS treatment if they are not ordinarily and legally resident in the UK. Even asylum seekers and certain class of immigrants have to pay a certain amount to the NHS for their NHS visits and treatment whether or not they access it. Ignorance is indeed a disease 🫤
That woman is a 100% correct !
UK is a ‘soft touch’ for all, people forget we are an island and have become saturated with people, where is the cut off point ? Wouldn’t that be a more rational and responsible view to have rather than make out everything must have a racial bent to it, the uk is one of the most diverse countries in the world the woman on question sounded more frustrated with the system than anything else! LBC stop trying to make out you are right because you hink this woman’s comments were wrong!
Anyone with any common sense would realise the lady on question time is spot on with what she’s saying
You think COMPLETELY shutting the borders is the right thing to do? I believe the numbers of people coming in should come down, but not completely shut off!
Dj Mossy... Never patronise any of their shows - *logs into the memory bank*
I sort of agree on territorial integrity, etc, but I also find it ironic that the people who benefited from colonialism are now complaining when the colonized and exploited people show up at the door and want some part of the wealth they helped create.
@kinelll He did not say you were responsible for colonialism. He said you have benefitted from it. And, if you live in Britain, you have.
@@meredithhunter6419 So now it’s payback time?
@kinelll But the wealth of Britain was taken from them and their countries. Ever ask yourself why a small island nations with a few sheep has so much amassed wealth?
Bingo

immigrants 'bringing down wages' is not the fault of immigrants, but rather of there being a lack of enforcement on laws regarding wages as well as the fault of greedy profit driven human exploiting employers.
Oh dear.... Facts have hurt feelings.....
Foreign immigration is the next Brexit in England's politics.
People with the same views as Fogerty are the reason that this country is overrun by immigrants. It was refreshing to hear the blond woman's views
Says she who lives in a white affluent area in SW London, unaffected by the social consequences of mass unskilled immigration, predominantly from the third world and Eastern Europe. A house at the back of me was brought by a slum landlord family, and since we have had a succession of nightmare tenants, mostly from Romania, who have blighted our lives and crashed the value of our properties - and this IS an affluent area; we have just been unlucky. It is mostly working class communities who have felt the brunt of social pressures from such high levels of immigration, yet if anyone dares voice concern, it is the white, it is predominantly the white, affluent middle classes who immediately round on them shouting racism and xenophobia, like true champagne socialists. No one is allowed a different opinion on the subject. Such hypocrites!
fact is Europe and Uk have lost control of their borders.. mass immigration will never stop.. next 10-20 years will be interesting
You told us your opinion...not allowed?
This caller got it completely incorrectly, the UK border control officer does a great job stopping anyone who tries to come into the UK
The kind of woman that goes to Spain and expects the natives to speak English...
Shelagh Fogarty's - You took down absolutely nothing.
We are a tiny nation, we cant house the whole world. At what point do we say that mass migration may be having a negative impact of the indigenous population?
We lived in Spain for nearly 20 years. Clinics, Government buildings, etc, all conducted their business in Spanish. Except in rare circumstances, you were expected to either speak in Spanish yourself or bring your own translator (at your own expense).
and were you asked for proof of residency or an insurance card before treatment ?
@@normanmerry5603 Of course, my point is the UK system bends far too much in favour if those who don't contribute st all, but still expect to be indulged.
I have a Residents SIP card which means I an entitled to 'free' health care under a mutual agreement between the Spanish and British Governments. I believe a similar arrangement is so in any EU country...
20 years living in Spain and you still required an interpreter? Maybe you should look up the word "integration" in the English dictionary.
@@birdinthebush Hardly any Brits resident in Spain speak basic, functional Spanish. Possibly 10%. And if they're honest, most are totally disinterested in Spain, its culture or its people. They watch Brit telly, have their own bars, restaurants and sub-culture, like many Asians do in the UK. We came back last year. I was bored with the whole sun-sea lifestyle. It gets old.
The English people are really extraordinarily welcoming and widely tolerated. ❤but it's utter abominable when those immigrates don't respect the UK culture.
She's RIGHT. BRITAIN IS AN ISLAND. How many more people can the island take in.
Er what about PAYING YOUR TAXES FOR YEARS WHICH GOES TOWARDS THE NHS.
how many die every year?
1/2 million every year
Foreigners were vitally important in harvesting crops, delivering goods, providing health care and teaching in schools. Particularly where language tuition was concerned. Instead of which the UK has crops rotting in the fields, a chronic shortage of HGV drivers, threadbare hospital staffing and language tuition is becoming an endangered species. The hostile environment has combined with ignorance and fear to produce new stresses on the UK, imposed by its own government.
Agree with you completely. That is why the Quitlings, the Gammons, think that once Brexit is "done", there will be no place the British can go so no need for language tuition.

But that's all getting a bit mental now. I was on a train in Wales a couple of weeks back which insisted on giving all announcements in Welsh first. Cue lots of WELSH people shaking their heads in bewilderment. There are NO people in Wales who speak only Welsh. English is absolutely dominant.
