Mehdi Hassan's analysis of the career of Colin Power is the only honest one I heard all day. The MSNBC talking heads, almost all of whom are former Republicans, Bushies if you will, made him out to be Saint Powell. He wasn't THAT! listen again to Mehdi's analysis here. It is honest. It is complete. If we persist on making heroes out of fallible people we will keep making mistakes that cost us dearly. He did good things, he let himself be used, he didn't fight the wrong he saw, he was often decent and he was political. Bravo Mehdi!

Helen Garrett: Once I cut the cord to cable 4 years ago, I don't have a choice to turn on any of those media channels and I don't miss them one bit! I was an MSNBC junkie for 12 years and I still don't miss all their slanted talking points as a result of the mis-framing of topics, questions and stories whose scripts are all written by their corporate bosses who forbid them to give the public all the in-between issues surrounding their talking points. Seriously, I never even get the urge to watch them on RUclips and never wonder what they're talking about. Once they fired Ed Schultz and a few others and after learning about those in-between issues, I just couldn't stand them any longer. Plus, Cox cable was charging an arm and a leg for cable TV; so I said, "screw it."

Helen Garrett- Well said, and very necessary. I’m glad that I have more than a few Headz that I give time to that had sane, intelligent conversation about him and his life. I have no doubt that the majority of corporate media’s coverage wud have me strangling screams of frustration. So, avoid them, I do! 😋 My sanity’s the better for it, tho I’m concerned that I will not work as hard to end the obscenity that has taken over “the news” in this country.
Anyway, end of rant-lite! I just wanted to send a “cheers!”, ur comment was appreciated.

Instead of blindly eulogizing a flawed man as many mainstream news media did, you stuck to the truth where ever it led you. He let himself be used by the most vile group of U.S. politicians the 20th century saw. Under his authority, thousands of lives were lost. You did a most important thing by uncovering the deeds of this man. Good for you Mehdi.

Well said sir ….he was used by white fraternity for their own goals! To a certain extent Obama is the same as he failed to deliver what he set out as the white establishment did not allow him, to that extent use of drone attacks went up under his tenure many innocent people were killed in Afghanistan and Pakistan and elsewhere we are still paying the price for this folly! Guantanamo was not closed more than 85% of detainees were innocent and had should have been imprisoned. US has lot to answer for sadly African Americans were used!

Powell literally covered up anti-war art (Picasso's Guernica) while
lying to the world at the United Nations. This led to Bush's (and
company) war of aggression against Iraq, which by the way was a war
crime (Art 6.1 of the Nuremberg Principles).
We are going to hear a lot of gushing praise for Powell but THIS is how I will remember him.
