In years to come people who didn’t see him will look back on his statistics and wonder what the fuss was all about. In his 79 tests 226 wickets at 32.79 and 3845 runs at 31.78. In 141 Odis 169 wickets at 24.38 and 3394 runs averaging 32.02. These are admirable stats certainly but they don’t explain the immense importance Freddie had to the game in this country. He galvanised the public, made them love cricket again and charmed a nation. I’m not aware of a cricketer that was as much a hero to the people of this country. You could feel it happening. You get a sense of it watching back that over he bowled at langer and Ponting. I think that may be one of the greatest overs ever bowled in any cricket ever. Flimtoff in 2005 is possibly one of the most iconic performances by any sportsman.
Gower was quite right. The king has struck. It was a privilege to have the chance to watch him.
I agree. Been an english cricket fan for a long time. I have said this before, I'll say it again, when he was at his peak, he was the best all-rounder to ever walk on the planet. He was simply great. Really wished Freddie and KP played for England little bit more
Ruwantha Edirisinghe
Jack Kallis , nuff said.
"I am not aware of a cricketer that that was as much a hero to the people of this country." Perhaps you are too young to remember a chap called Ian Botham.
@@davidforbes7772 Botham and Flintoff, both very special.
@@starrynights2343 Don't think anyone would deny that Kallis was overall a much better player, but the thing with Flintoff was how quickly he could flip a game on its head with both bat and ball. An hour of him batting or a three or four over spell of him at his absolute best and the entire complexion of a Test match changed. You certainly couldn't say the same for Kallis. The best teams are made up of a mixture of both sorts of player.
I think we’ve all tried to replicate his bowling action 👌
lol yes.
yes bro
Samuel Atienzo factsss
oh for sure.
Mine is very much The Body Line Harold Larwood Style.
And when I Skipper, it will be the Lethal Body Line attack.
When it comes to not your eyes blinking, it is The Art of Captaincy from Mike Brearley.
Love the stare that Freddie gives Ponting after every appeal, it’s telling Ponting ‘yeah maybe not this ball but it’s coming, you know it is, I know it is, just wait, you’ll be gone soon enough......’.
This video does not do justice to how exceptionally he bowled. It's not always the wickets but the aggression, 13 over long spell hitting 150+ consistently, plays and misses and mostly when no one was getting wickets - he bowled and got one. That was one heck of a performance from him. I started enjoying test cricket after this series; not for the batting but for good spells of bowling.
And the banter... Mind the windows 😉😂🤣
150+ consistently is a stretch
He never bowled 150 plus
But he had speed that trouble everyone
@@AmanSingh-pg3fz It was the height. A 6'4" bowler banging the deck at 140 plus feels about 10kmph faster, especially if the pitch has a bit of a zip.
@@MrJJuK that was in a series against the west indies. flintoff said that to tino best
When he was needed he delivered. What a player!!
i'm afraid that was a "rude" decision from mr K. Blatant ground first. ....Thing is, who is reviewing these replays ? They brought this stuff in so they could get the right decisions, neutral umpires etc.. i'm afraid, mr Sharma, you still get howlers. Do'nt get it. i want Albion to win, but not involving dreadful decisions like that.
Still missing those childhood days ... Flintoff with a fiery spell ...What a character , What an all-rounder ... Respect & love from India
Andy is a great northern lad, I am from Preston, Andys home town and we are proud of him. a great talent with bat and ball but more importantly a modest man and a guy who played the game fairly in the true spirit of the game!
Confused me saying Andy, always heard him as Andrew or Freddie. My mum's from Preston so I spent plenty of time there when I was younger. Everyone always seemed to know each other wherever you went, hope it's still the same
@Daniel W How would you know that, mush ?
One of the greatest all rounders to play for England, delivered when asked every time!!
Freddie was more than a great cricketer. He had a natural understanding of game-management and would conjure key moments at crucial times in a match. This man at the 2005 Ashes got me into the sport.
The greatest entertainer and allrounder, the cricket has ever observed!
Sagar Shroff *Cricket has ever observed!
Was bit emotional while watching this.. never noticed my grammer..
@@sagar_shroff *grammar
Uhhhhhhhhhm about that all rounder part,I think Jaques Kallis might disagree about that
Entertainment wise afridi. Never cared for records or situations. Always kept public on their edge of seat
Miss u in the field Andrew Flintoff when I see Cricket matches of England. Rip Phillip Hughes ... Love from Bangladesh
His ability to swing both ways at 140km/h was amazing. Live u Flintoff from Pakistan
Everything is cheered by English crowd. Greatest feeling for a cricketers. Best audience.
And now brilliantly reviving 'Top Gear'.
Great series between two great sides - one of the best Ashes ever in the history of the game.
a darling in his country. what a cricketer he was. always makes the crowd buzzing
that run out is the best moment in ashes history, pontings face is priceless
Freddie AGAIN 🤐
I hated the guy when he was playing but now, looking back, i miss the things he brought into the field. Much LOVE 💖💖
Huge fan of Flintoff ,I haven't seen any cricketer better than him.Love u Freddie's from INDIA 🇮🇳💟
My favourite cricketer. Whether bowling or batting he made the game come alive.
What an amazing player he was. I admire him a lot.
Miss his aggressive bowling action and attitude.
Cricket needs more like him now more than ever.
Im an aussie, so ive watched Warne, Lee Mcgrath et al as i grew up. Thats the best over of bowling ever captured on footage.
When no one else could, he would💙
I'd love to have Freddie in the team we have now! Just imagine.
Huge fan of Freddie from India
What a strength to a team. When we have a all rounder like Freddie
I’m an Aussie, but you gotta love Andrew Flintoff. Great sportsman great all rounder, one of the best of all time ,top man ,total respect👍gotta love him 😉😉
One of the greatest All-rounder of all time 🔥
What a wonderful player! Truly a great!
One of the Greatest All Rounder ! Awesome to watch him in action !
What a Gem!! With that pace and accuracy . Unbelievable
Freddie hit so many boundaries because he had done enough running when he was bowling. Brilliant cricketer. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴
my favourite Allrounder andrew flintoff he was the star his pace was amazing every delivery he bowled 145 144kph
Definitely in top 5 modern all rounders! A great asset for the team!
Bats with dragon on it and a helmet with beautiful tribal yellow strips of Flintoff and Pietersen were a delight to watch. Ohhh my childhood was blessed
It was a worm, not a dragon. They were Woodworm bats which even Kevin Pietersen was using at that time.
That Ponting run out is one of the best ever!! He absolutely launched it and with incredible accuracy! Such a great player, never a dull moment with Freddie.
I still remember Ashes 2005 we were about 28 to 30 people in a big hall with Videocon TV set. We were enjoying every moment and we loved the atmosphere of test cricket. I came to know that day, test match is about temperament and consistency, but not to hit every ball to score boundaries. We all loved Freddie's performance. Wonderful days those were.
The pride of Preston! We love you Andy!
thats time was great. ona of my favorite player a great personality
What a great player in that time
We (cricket lovers) always miss you
Freddy we love you
I would say Andrew Freddie flintoff is the best all rounder ever who agrees with me
Botham was up there with him .
BIg call. Viv Richards, Gary Sobers and Jacques Kallis are all pretty decent.
not even the best all rounder to play for England!
@@james-pb3wm explain r self bro
@@paulantoine7628 Ian Botham - highest number of Test wickets ever taken by an Englishman at 383 in 102 matches (3.75 per match). 5 wickets in an innings 27 times and 10 wickets in a match 4 times. Flintoff 206 wickets in 70 games (2.94 per match). 5 wickets in an innings on just 2 occasions and never 10 wickets in a match. Botham scored 5,200 runs with 14 centuries and 22 fifties at an average of 33.54. Flintoff scored 3,494 runs with just 5 centuries and 24 fifties averaging 32.21.
One of the best sportsmen that I've ever seen. Just brilliant.
Botham, Flintoff, Stokes.. English cricket continues the tradition of nurturing mavericks..!!
Flintoff and McGraw has best bowling action
What a awesome player really is ....one in life time
Wish I could see him in that England shirt once more. Fantastic player absolutely terrific! 💪🏻
Seeing Phil Hughes is sad. For those of us who love cricket, he will be missed.
Freddy won the ashes for us...beast.
Freddy and kevin
He was a hard hitter he was a quick bowler he was a match winner and he was my favourite player we miss you freddie
He was bowling at 145km/hr even towards the end of his carrier....LEGEND
Can you imagine how fast he'd have been if he had got fit
England's crowd is best in the world
Happy Birthday Andrew Flintoff🎂🎂
What a legend
2 great teams duking it out, shame games are never this good and close anymore.
Was on the edge of my seat watching when I was 16

World Cup Final happens
@@joemaynard2305 8 months later, Headingley happens 😯😍
He was perfect all-rounder ...
In 2005 it was Flintoff & in 2019 it was Ben Stokes.
He's the reason I started bowling 🙏
Freddie Flintoff ! THE MAN!
When Sachin tendulkar himself respect you..you are something special Mr Flintoff
That run out is epic
Always good to watch.
miss this man
I was very lucky to see Fredie once, in the 2008 Edgebaston test vs South Africa. England got bowled out on the first day but Freddie smashed a few around which kept the crowd going. South Africa needed to survive a few overs at the end of the day so Strauss bought Flintoff on and he made Graeme Smith snick off. Amazing to be there and to hear everyone chanting 'Super Fred'. His stats don't do him justice; he was a great player.
this video deserves more likes.. Love from India❤❤❤
Legend!
Wishing him the best for his recovery , sad what happened
He really was the man for the moments.
If anyone deserves the word Talisman, it's Freddie. Best of the best. I don't even think he knows just how good he was. What a joy. But Ponting's nightmare.
And Kallis
Flintoff one of Englands best bowlers full of energy always the one to get the break threw for England
Good player shame he wasn't around for longer could of been a great
He is still a great
Steve Johnson, should have stayed focussed................and sober.
He is more than a great he is a legend.
People who glance at the career stats will complettely miss the point with Flintoff. His peak was patchy and relatively short, but at that peak, he owned the field he was on and the opponents knew it.
Pure cricket
Legends call it!
Fridde is one of my best all rounder
Best all rounder England ever seen.
He was the best all rounder at that of cricket.
28:39 is called Thug life. Am a Sri Lankan but we miss big 'Freddie' very much ❤️
தேவுடியாபைய
I wasn't even born and Aleem Dar was an umpire, now I'm adult and still he's an umpire!!
OMG what a comeback BEN STOKES U BEAUTYYYYYYYYY.....
Even as an Aussie I loved Flintoff
Wonderful cricketer he was genuinely world class with bat and ball. A joy to watch
Rip Phillip Hughes
Look how flat Freddie's bat was compared to the bats now haha
@Giggs Will Tear You Apart Ponting plyed with modren bats in t20 but he done nothing so is Flintoff this is just stupid guy it's not about bats even viv Richard use to hit sixes bats don't matter aggression matter's
great all rounder
That Ponting run out, I was there, it was funny then, many years later, it's still funny now.
England have had the best and generational fast bowling all rounders
It’s unreal how much talent they’ve had in that department
Ian botham
Freddie flintoff
Ben stokes
Sir Freddie just kicks Ass...…….Brilliant
Not many could change the flow of the match so drastically. Not many could give Langer and Ponting that kind of pressure. What a player Flintoff.
Happy birthday Flintoff the england legend
Cricket all all rounder my favorite Andrew flintoff 🏏
Flintoff ur a good player we miss u such a greater in cricket
An out and out Showman ! Freddie is the name !
Game changer is what flintoff should be known for. Bring him in when you need something and he makes it happen. He won’t get all the runs you need or all of the wickets but he will get important runs and wickets and give the team a lift that carries them on to victory. A true hero 👌👍😊❤️
15 years ago, christ i feel old
Every time Fred was involved, whether it be with bat or ball, I always felt like I was going to witness something special. It was rare he disappointed certainly in the 2005/2009 ashes
Freddie was and is larger than life
This is greatest wins for England and great series of my life
Great all rounder
Iam big big fan for Andrew filentoff
One of the best cricketer
Fantastic,thanks Freddie!!
Best entertainer of cricket history
