Le "Preludio" de la suite en mi pour violon : c'est une des oeuvres les plus connues de J.S.Bach, tellement populaire et merveilleuse qu'elle a été transcrite pour à peu près tous les instruments. La version en fa fonctionne à merveille sur la flûte à bec alto.
Le Prieuré de Serrabona : un chef d'oeuvre du 11ème siècle, perdu dans les montagnes catalanes près de Perpignan. (fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prieure...)

The "Preludio" from the Suite in E for violin: this is one of J.S.Bach's best known works, so popular and wonderful that it has been transcribed for just about every instrument. The version in F works wonderfully on the alto recorder.

Hi Guido. I am, thinking of coming back to recorder, I taught myself to play in my 20's. I used an Alto recorder .and was playing the Telemann in A before I stopped. I am curious if its possible to circular breath on Recorder? I can do it on trumpet a little. Trumpet has lots of backpressure, so I believe that makes it easier, but can it be done on a Alto? also curious, why you chose F here? what would a good intermediate to advanced level instrument be? what brand are you playing?
Hello Can, no experience with circular breath ; I am already very happy to breath normally ... The partita BWV 1006 is written in E, as this is one of the best and most brilliant tunings for the violon. The best scale to use on an alto recorder is F Major, with only one b, instead of 4 sharps in the original E major setting. The transposition to F avoids to have a low E, a tone that does not really exist on the recorder. Idem for some high notes. Last argument : to play this piece in F on the alto recorder is difficult enough ; in E it would sound very clumsy. Have I been clear ? Guido
