great video once again! that may be the largest CSX oil train I've ever seen, and with 2 DPU's! that NS train appears to have a fouled K5LA, which sounds like a P5!

WWOT if the train was headed west then the cars were likely empty ethanol tankers, as I don’t think CSX moves much crude oil anymore into the East after the refinery fire in Philadelphia last year. I agree the train looked like two trains coupled together, all controlled by just 2 employees
Yes the refinery fire did slow things down but I see oil Tankers heading east a few times a week
And if they were empties they wouldn't have the buffer car at the front

What I am trying to say is that you shouldn't try to weld an empty gas tank as much as you may have emptied it and cleaned it.
That train has the max speed of 50 mph,,,becuse it's called a key train,,which is FRA regulated

I wonder whether a train of empty oil or ethanol tankers would burn if it derailed?
If they were empty, there wouldn't be very much there to burn. If anything did burn, it wouldn't have much to keep burning for very long.

How do they control the DPU's?
The DPU's are controlled by the head (first) unit. The engineer changes any settings at the head unit, the DPU's respond as well.
