- 1-1-1-1!! Canadian Pacific 8808, CP 8865, CP 8549, CP 8612 southbound at mile 59 of the Mactier subdivision in Essa pulling double stack intermodal and autorack cars. (27MAR2012)
This huge CP 8808 was having an oversized meet in Baxter and then to the "mile 27 parking space" near Bolton.

Imagine being late to work and you get stopped by a train for 4 minutes
bruh if only this train was going at restricting speed
In the US sometimes there are 3 mile long stack trains that block roads for 30 mins!
Don't call it train just say great wall of China just pass from here.
Lmao
And ironically most of the stuff on that train is probably from China.
True
LMAO TRUE ALSO ITS FUNNYZ
Hahahaha
I fell asleep and woke up and the same train still going by 🤪
The sound lulls you to sleep. :)

4 engines+178 cars I counted... Approximately 3.6 km!
3600m holy sht!
Estimating an average of 25m per vehicle with a total of 180 this would be 4.5km. The engine is like 18m and the cars are much longer.
Estimating roughly 70km/h and 4,5 Minutes travel time would make 5,25km.
Anyways that train is just massive. Only concerned about crossing security and braking paths.
2.2 miles
i just wonder is it real or not. How can a engine pull 178 cars...
@@a590631 Not 1 engine! All 4 engines would have been supplying power! No way only one engine could pull that many cars at that speed. In trains of that size, all engines must be supplying power.
Now this is what I call a train! Thanks for bringing this to us. Loved it.
You’d be surprised at how light some of these intermodal trains can be. Regardless of the tonnage, 4 AC locomotives were right where they belonged.
That's one of the longest trains I've ever seen. 4 Diesel powered locomotives hauling about 180 carriages. Incredible.
amazing for my "europeans" eyes 👍
when there's only 2 shipyards (Vancouver and Montreal) gotta get stuff to the otherside some how lol
@@chrisbuttonshaw2088 It's not about shipyards. EU hypermodern infrastructure has a maximum length of 750 m and can barely accommodate a single stack.
Lots of wide open spaces in Canada & we converted to double stack many moons ago. :)
Imagine that each of these flat cars are carrying the loads of two trucks on the highway!
322, including doubles
Thanks I was wondering how many.
1-55-1-63-1-59-1. Very even weight distribution
Well, my penny would really have been squashed!
Long.Ass.Train. nice catch!
great video bro

DRIVER GETTING READY TO DEPART: ah shit i left my phone in the caboose!
This is for me hands down the greatest train video ever!! Very impressive!! Simply amazing 😉
Thanks but I have better ones. lol This is my fav: ruclips.net/video/cd5k5Phxcl8/видео.html
That was a big boy. The fact that you were able to get such a long video from a train going that fast is actually pretty amazing !!!
The long approach adds a full minute to the video, then its all train. :)
Right let's count...1 2 3 4....121 122 123...dam just blinked....replay 1 2 3 ......
Christine Allen Lmfaoo
Lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪🤪
Christine Allen 180 cars and 4 units.
@@bobcats905 I had 177 and 4 units. I actually started it over just to try and count them
Wow. 2 mid train DPUs separated among cars. Fantastic video
177 wagons + 4 locomotives ! Respect !
178
@@AndrePereira-tw5vsi counted 177
Very evenly distributed power. Less strain on the couplers. All under the control of a 2 person crew. Its all about moving as many "cans" as possible as cheaply as possible. Well done.
Oh my god.... The longest train ever I have ever seen..... It was just amazing
Thank you for dropping by! JJ & Jason
Awesome! My dad was a train driver when I was a little boy so this is mesmerizing to me. Thanks for uploading.
Lots of railroad guys up this way too. Thanks for watching, JJ & Jason
That's a huge train.

Why weren't the DPUs all MUd together instead of being spread out?
Hola
Sounds like a dumb question. But I was curious, as someone who doesn’t know much about the field... are there conductors/operators in each of those Engines to make sure there running properly?
The lead unit is manned the DPU's are controlled by the engineer in the lead .
@@dsmith3818 maybe because if the engine were all put together the pulling load of all the freight would be there on the first link and would be lowest on the last link. This probably distrbutes all the stress on all the links
177 cars give or take a few
nice vid, new sub! Keep up the great work
¡¡ 177 Wagones y 4 LOCOMOTORAS !!! . Bárbaro . Bendiciones desde URUGUAY 🇺🇾❤🇺🇾❤🇺🇾
Wow it's crazy 176 cargowagoons
Love it, superb
Thank you! Cheers!
Plenty of power needed in this 181 car (overall including locomotives) lashup. The ES44AC's do a great job. I like how the locomotives are in different sections of the train, front, 1/3, 2/3, and rear. But 6x SD40-2's would be better, much more noise!
It seemed the distributed power was perfectly matched strategically for this train. Much despised but top notch railroader Hunter Harrison when he was CEO insisted on this sort of matching enabling CP Rail to reduce the stable by some 500 locomotives saving many many $$ in leasing costs. That stretch of mainline between Essa and Tottenham on the Mactier Sub used to need pusher engines coming uphill from Lambton Yard Toronto in the days of steam.
Gord Merrick Look at the date of this video. This was before H.H. arrived at CP. Long intermodal trains with remotes were running in 2008.
Impresionante formación. Excelente captura. Felicitaciones desde El Salvador!
I’d hate to be the conductor on that if a knuckle breaks between the second last car and the last one. But on the bright side, the tail end DP is right there. Hopefully it’d have the right type of knuckle on it!
Esse Trem de Ferro e um monstro de verdade e uma composição muito longa.
Parabens.
Obrigado pelo video
Thanks you
Never seen a train so long! Amazing!
The wind drag must play a part when hauling these double stacks. They have the aerodynamics of bricks. I'd think streamlining them could really improved fuel mileage while at speed?
177 wagons and 4 locomotives, wow!! 👏👏👏
Carles G. 177 Intermodal Cars And 4 Ac4400Cw Canadian Pacific Diesel Locomotives.
Very Very Large!!
@@pokeyrailfanning they weren't all Intermodals.
With 4 locomotive they can bring 177 carriage and 281container,i just can say "wow" xD
That's what I call a freight train!....the ones over here in the UK are measly by comparison!
176 cars double stacked. Thats close to 340 containers. Amazing.
@Prathamesh Pimputkar don't forget, many of those wagons had 2 20' cans on the bottom. I wasn't counting too closely, but I'd hazard a guess at 380-390 containers in total...
187 cars and 372 containers!!! Wow
177 cars
good catch
Beautiful. That's a big train for that kind of power and DPU set-up. Great video.
As JayJr pointed out nearly all the wagons are double stacked so not 7000 tons may be 14000 tons sorry if my mis calculation caused any problems
Как же станция длиной, для такого, и это ещё в два яруса морские контейнеры)впечатляет
Greeeting from Canada. Double stack intermodal is the way to move goods! The fuel economy is outrageous. Cheers, J
Can’t believe that this was posted 12 years ago
We have been at this a bit. :) .. Thank you, J
Longest double decker freight train in the world for sure. 😜👍
Good video
That was an invasion not a train! Amazing.
Just unbelievable. I have never seen a train with three DPU’s. I really hope to see something like this one day
Fantastic video, thanks a lot!
Thanks for watching! J
It needs a looooooong time if you´re waiting with your car at the train crossing, haha!!
You can smoke a cigarette and drink a coffee while the train is passing.
Just 5 minutes
You could take a nap and the train would still be going when you woke up...
Panjang sekali rangkaian gerbongnya, Amazing.....
Incredible

Beautiful. Just beautiful. They're hauling outta there. What's the speed restriction in that part?
Restriction? The only restriction is the max speed of the engines. They way it was flying looks like theres no restrictions.
Speed limit is probably 50 to 60 mph.
55 MPH
smart distribution of power on a long train!! bet it could do 70mph,and make good time to its terminal!!
It WAS doing about 60mph in the video, but in canada freights are limited to 65, and all freight locos geared for that speed...
Man i wish i could see another 70mph+ train, i saw the VIA canadian doing 75 once... pure awesomeness, i tell ya
@@thestarlightalchemist7333 The Vias run 90 MPH along the Toronto - Montreal corridor.
*now imagine trying to slow down the train with so much mass moving forward*
@@thestarlightalchemist7333 It slowed down though from it's initial speed
Wow.. Cool..
Btw, how do each locos communicate each to synchronize the speed? Because they are separated by wagon..
Radio control equipment
Ok tq for the information. So the RF must be reliable and low noice /intereference..👍👍
@@HavelockYard thanks for that reply. I always assumed there was some sort of data connection that was link when the cars and brake pipes were connected between the cars. Never thought of radio. Cheers

That's about what 2-3 miles of train imagine it was going slow and you waiting at the crossing 🚂⛔😡
And you needed a restroom! 😂
I chase CP trains configured like this on the old Soo Line Paynesville sub in Minnesota although they’re not nearly this long and consist mostly of empty grain hoppers. It’s a real challenge to get ahead of them. In the Soo Line days they would run with just enough power to barely get the trains over the hills on the roller-coaster track. The engines were working so hard it looked like they were grinding up mountain grades on track that was maybe 1%. That’s no longer the case as CP spent tons of money to get train speeds up and then provide more than enough power to run them at 50+ mph. It’s always a little unnerving when the mid-train DPU shoots by at flank speed in the middle of light, high center-of-gravity grain cars, many of them old Pullman Standards. To watch the transformation of the old 30mph Soo Line into the new 50 mph CP was a mixed blessing as it became apparent that the days of the easy train chasing were gone. There wouldn’t be much hope of playing catch-up to this train, would there?
I can't rememeber a time when the Paynesville sub was ever 30 mph! Must have been WAY before my time and I have been running trains on that sub for over 20 years. Track speed from humboldt to Hammel was 25, Hamel to mp87 40 nad mp87 to Glenwood was 60. We were restricted to a max of 45 mph due to "fuel conservation". Hunter never spent any money upgrading any of the subdivisions on the property. If someone said its not safe or no, he would terminate them on the spot! We are running trains in excess of 10,000 feet and 18,000 tons with two units!
@@IFLYBELLah yea good ol' hunter harrison... his PSR bull crap is stronger than ever... NS ceo shaw bragged in december about how NS lowered their operating ratio by 530 basis points which in turn generated $10 BILLION for SHAREHOLDERS off the backs of a crap load of canned workers... i worked for the chicago and northwestern as a switchman, hired on in 93... back then if we had a 12,000 ton manifest my jaw dropped... ANYTHING 18,000 tons was coal train/potash train/ etc type trains... and even then 18,000 tons was way way excessive... PSR has gone WILD
Imagine you're 5 minutes from home, you have to take a #2 really bad, then you get caught at this rr crossing.
I'm sure it happens! If there was a meet, it could take 20+ minutes to clear.
Cheers, J

For railfans, this is a great video. And for an environmentally consious one, it shows how much truck mileage can be reduced when shipping is done by rail.
Railroads on average, move one ton of freight nearly 500 miles per gallon of fuel. Cheers & thanks, J
Wow 177 cars that sure is a monster!
Danke, dass du dieses wundervolle Video hochgeladen hast.

If I came to the railroad crossing barricade at the same time those things dropped down I really, really need a whole lot of Snickers Bars because I will be here while. A guy could watch a bunch of Three Stooges short movies on a DVD player. At least that take away the boring train going bye.
