If you put your pond at ground level, you will get water beatles, dragon fly larvae, tadpoles and frogs. Your ponds are lovely, I enjoyed the video.

Chip, this is exponentially the most needed video for me. I love adding a small water feature to our city garden. We don’t have an electrical source so I have to be creative. This is absolutely gorgeous and adds a modern, zen presence.

Glorious! I haven’t dared to add anything like that to my garden as I am too afraid to create a mosquito breeding paradise. Is that not a problem with your water vessels considering there is no water circulation device in them? Thank you for the inspiration!

Just put in some mosquito dunks or bits- that will take care of it

We repurposed the base of a circular fire pit we bought in Aldi. Works a treat as a mini pond!

Couldn't have standing water in Canada. It's a breeding ground for mosquitos. I thought it was going to be a fountain but there is no pump to move the water around.
Yes, surprised me as well. Surely there are mosquitoes there as well! Otherwise a charming idea. The reflections are beautiful. Thank you.

I love this idea! So beautiful. But how do you keep it clean? Do the plants you chose prevent algae from forming? With no circulating pump, are you concerned it will become a mosquito breeding ground? I really want to use your design but need to understand if it will work in my zone 7b garden with warm summers? Do you have a link for purchasing planter bowls and aquatic plants? Thank you for this video!
Hi Donna , I’m pleased to say we don’t have a problem with mosquitoes in Yorkshire , but we do have a lot of rain and this will keep the ponds filled with fresh water most weeks also the plant roots will oxygenate the water too 👍🏼 the ponds are in a shady spot in the garden which will also help 🤞 the containers are from Home Sense , the water plants you can get from most good garden centres or on line 👍🏼 thanks again for your message hope this helps, all the best and good luck with your new venture in the garden 🌱 Chip
Very nice!! You said something about "affordable." In the U.S., I see similar bowls marketed as "zen bowls" or "pond kits" for around $700 (~550 pounds). Is that the range you're talking about? If not, what are yours made of? Did you have an unusual source, or just a pond or garden store? Thanks!
Hi Chip I’m curious, that won’t cause root rot since it is sitting in a standing water and won’t that breed mosquito ?

Does the shady position mean that you won't get algae?
