You could invest in a military poncho. They are tough / rugged and large enough to be used as a shelter and to protect your ruck from rain and snow. Another item is a 1-2 liter single walled stainless steel bottle. You can boil water in it. And having a secondary water container is a must. If something were to happen to the bladder and hose (Freezing in a blizzard or bladder cracks or is punctured some how) you would need to improvise quickly to be able to carry water. (FYI Kabar does not recommend you baton with the knife because it is a rat tail tang) Also a cheap knife company is Morakniv out of Sweden. They make some very good quality fix blade knives. You need to invest in a CAT tourniquet and israeli dressing.
The community needs to see people actually use there Bob. So many videos on what we carry but none on people using them. I may have to start making videos on utube
Enjoyed your video. I started out with a Condor 3 day assault bag and down sized to their medium pack which is a 30 liter bag, it works better for me but still like the 3 day bag. The base weight of my bag is 16.5 lbs. Ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain. Thanks again for the video.
I totally clicked on this video because the bag looks nearly identical to my London Bridge 1476J which I absolutely love. It’s almost an exact copy, down to the alternating molle/velcro on the back and even the layout of the admin pockets. Nice kit, this gives me some ideas how to set mine up since they’re so similar.
Put a small folding backpack inside your bag for extra carrying space, you can use it as a second backpack to collect things on the way or it can be used as an emergency backpack when your main bag somehow get breakdown, redundancy
This can easily be supplemented by some big contractor bags, they can be used for all kinds of things like water collection, waterproofing your main pack, scavenging, emergency rain poncho, bivvy sack, ground tarp, pack it with leaves to make a mattress to keep your body off the ground in cold climates, chest seals for puncture wounds to the lung...etc the uses are unlimited and are much lighter and easier to pack than an actual backpack. Having some contractor bags, some paracord and some duct tape can get you through a lot of situations.
Location awareness for the type of bag you have is also important. When I lived in NYC I used an Oakley or North Face bag for mine as looks like every bag people carry on them going to school and work. It didn't say I'm carrying unique gear, knives or a gun which would draw unwanted attention. When I moved to a free state with a large joint base and military community, my bag was a molle laden Maxpedition since those were popular.
Look into losing the tent, since it leaks anyway. Look into the emergency tent setups. Tons of different brand and some good quality. Will help with heat retention aswell. Didn't see any water carrier except the sawyer bag, a good bottle will help especially if that bag breaks. Maybe a map of your area unless you know it very well. Bag set up looks great.

To waterproof your tent, get a tube of clear silicone, mix with mineral spirits (think it's about 5 parts spirits to one part silicone) paint it on (some prefer to soak it in a bucket, I've never tried this method) leave to dry, repeat if necessary. Job done. 😁 I have an old army bivvy which works fine when combined with a poncho and multiple layers but it's usually milder weather here. Wet, but not so cold in winter or warm in summer. Btw a good item is a silk shirt, virtually zero weight/space and makes a good extra layer.
I've had a very similar Condor bag for several years now. I absolutely hate it. All of the zipper pulls have broken. The suspension system is horrible. I only carry about 25# in it and it sags off my back instead of riding close, with the cinch straps pulled as tight as possible. The front pocket is also useless for anything other than maybe a map. Waiting for an Eberlestock V69 to arrive in the mail soon for a much needed upgrade.
I’ve made the mistake of carrying this same pack with 35 pounds for approximately 10 miles . You can load it with all sorts of gear but it is torture to carry . I tried so hard to like it to the point of strapping it to a ridged pack frame with its own shoulder straps and padded hip belt .That was the only way to comfortably carry it . It has since gone to the thrift store . Thank you for you’re comment . I thought it was just me. PS , A smart man learns from his mistakes , A wise man learns from others mistakes . 😎✌️
i have put together a couple of these as get to me bags for my love ones just in case where they are becomes uninhabitable .plus long range walkie-talkies
Great bag. Wise of you to have clothing, too few do. Only important adds I'd recommend would be two more days of food (you have only a day's worth there) and definitely more cordage. I'd toss a few more fuel tabs in your stove too, I'm able to store nine of them in mine with a lighter and scrubbing pad, have the same one. I've also used it with natural materials, worked fine but slower. Good for you for leaving out all the gadgety stuff.
Overall, good for you that you even care to get started on surviving or surviving RUclips. Aside from that... Fail items: 1. Cook kit for food that requires water but no water. 2. Camelback for water but no water. 3. Tent that leaks 4. Four crappy knives but not two good ones 5. Ozark trail first aid kit 6. Food that requires cooking 7. Condor pack that’s already giving out 8. Crap multitool 9. Clothes packed in bag 10. No good emergency signaling devices (sound and sight) 11. Compass but no map when I’m guessing you know your way home Win items: 1. Headlamp 2. Escape bivvy 3. Some redundancy in fire and cutting 4. A plan of sorts 5. A desire to be prepared 6. General idea of what to have. I assume you’d have 3 liters of bottled water in your vehicle to fill your camelback, so we’ll skip that. I assume you could leave your extra clothing in a separate bag in your car to change in to before you try to get home instead of taking up room in your pack so well skip that. I assume you have better knives available and will ditch the fork and spoon kit for no eating utensils when you dump the cooked food stuff and redundant stove stuff because it’s unnecessary for 72 hrs so we’ll skip that. I assume you have a good first aid/trauma kit to replace the ozark trails boo boo kit so we’ll skip that. I assume you have a good vanquest or 511 bag that you actually use when you’re not pandering to the economy minded crowd so we’ll skip that. Essentially speaking 72 hrs without food or fire is no big deal. If you don’t need a sub zero sleeping bag then you don’t need fire or food. Get some water and snacks and get home quickly is the essence of survival. Humping will keep you warmer than eating and sleeping. Cover 40 miles a day 72 hrs = 120 miles. Light and fast is better than a scenic tour of the countryside. There’s other stuff but you get my drift. Keep up the good work. Stay open to new information. Keep recording. Good wishes.
That ka-bar isn’t designed for bushcraft work, the tang is thin and will break right where the handle meets the blade, it’s a fighter not a worker, you’re water stuff is ok but put them in a heavy duty ziplock bag that can be another way to transport water but primarily to keep filters clean
I would add a pair of walkie talkies, underwear, maybe waterproof pouches/containers for your gear like for your batteries, radio, etc.). I picked up USB rechargeable batteries since I carry a solar USB charger.
Thinking of building a bug out also... glad found your video, not sure i want a tactical backpack though... had one before (511 rush) was always asked if i was in the military or in Law enforcement got annoying and sold the bag. What do you do if the item has an expire date on it and you have not even used it wouldn't it be a waste?
Some (old)schoolbacks are working good as wel. The lether bags are heavyer but almost rainproof. The schoolbags / sportbacks(30L) are rain resistent but get wet after 90min heavy rain even with cover. Always have a waterproof bag in the main compartment. Greetings from the Netherlands ;-)
Get a "life wtr" bottle at the grocery store. They're like a dollar most places. Get the one with the sports screw top. It will function as a back wash nozzle and you save weight and space by not having to carry the syringe that came with the sawyer squeeze.
I had that Esbit cooking kit and didn't like the size of the pot. It works fine but I prefer a little larger pot so I can cook up that whole bag Knor rice. and get 2 large cups of coffee out of it,
now this is my opinion thoughts ideas i dont like gas cooking systems fuel tanks been known to leak . i use a stove that uses fuel tabs or sticks of wood . i carry a few extra fuel tabs to start fire . carry small bottle of vaseline multi use first aid fire starter etc . my fix blade knife is only 6" long never had a reason to split wood . have a folding saw get a better compass love my backtracker lots of info temp , coordinates , elevation etc . have about the same tent sleeping system got a military poncho for rain gear and cover tent in case of rain . live in central new york still have areas with no cell service i carry a hand held ham radio fishing kit and a side arm my bag is multi use BOB hiking camping etc . had a second bag for work worked for a highway department this bag stay in plow truck . in my 28 years plowing roads i broke down a few times took 2-4 hrs to get someone to where i was .in bag was a change of clothes 5-6 hand warmers emergency blanket 1 mre snacks .
Good job, bro...well thought out, well organized. A few things I would do differently but you've got it covered your way. I can't really suggest any improvements. Nice work. Wait...Did I see a first aid kit? You need a first aid kit, dude.
Just a recommendation do not use Tuna packs. They are extremely inefficient at calories per weight ratio. They come in at 23 calories per ounce even a cliff bar comes in at 83 calories per oz and to be honest they are terrible as well but it's better then tuna. Just my recommendation.
Nice kit but you need to protect your clothes better I noticed get all your clothes and put them in more plastic like if it’s going to rain for 90 years
You could invest in a military poncho. They are tough / rugged and large enough to be used as a shelter and to protect your ruck from rain and snow. Can you attach a list with links of the items in your bag?
I would like that, too. I came here to the site to look and see if there was a link for the candle light after seeing the video on my Roku.
Yup
Nice tip to put the handwarmers in the clothes section.
Great Job! I'm fairly new to this and I learned some things, and I liked the clearness of the presentation.

The map is great advice. Can’t always count on our phones! Might add a stainless water bottle too! I used to have one on their in a condor pouch.

Btw a good item is a silk shirt, virtually zero weight/space and makes a good extra layer.
Kabar: a man after my own heart. Indestructible!
I liked the KA-BAR. Maybe add a hatchet or folding saw.
i have put together a couple of these as get to me bags for my love ones just in case where they are becomes uninhabitable .plus long range walkie-talkies
Thanks for sharing, any chance you could make a written list of the contents?
Overall, good for you that you even care to get started on surviving or surviving RUclips. Aside from that...
Fail items:
1. Cook kit for food that requires water but no water.
2. Camelback for water but no water.
3. Tent that leaks
4. Four crappy knives but not two good ones
5. Ozark trail first aid kit
6. Food that requires cooking
7. Condor pack that’s already giving out
8. Crap multitool
9. Clothes packed in bag
10. No good emergency signaling devices (sound and sight)
11. Compass but no map when I’m guessing you know your way home
Win items:
1. Headlamp
2. Escape bivvy
3. Some redundancy in fire and cutting
4. A plan of sorts
5. A desire to be prepared
Some good advice, thank you! My kit is ever evolving so I look forward to making some positive changes soon! Keep you all posted :)
Can confirm the candle saved my freezing ass.
corkscrew for your survival wine.. nice.
Possibly the most important item!!
That ka-bar isn’t designed for bushcraft work, the tang is thin and will break right where the handle meets the blade, it’s a fighter not a worker, you’re water stuff is ok but put them in a heavy duty ziplock bag that can be another way to transport water but primarily to keep filters clean
Nice kit, it'll definitely keep you alive
Thank you
I would add a pair of walkie talkies, underwear, maybe waterproof pouches/containers for your gear like for your batteries, radio, etc.). I picked up USB rechargeable batteries since I carry a solar USB charger.
Nice kit man! Well prepared.
Thank you!
This was a great video man, good job.
Greetings from the Netherlands ;-)
ignore expiration dates. If it's a can, it'll be good a very long time. Producers have to print something!
Get a "life wtr" bottle at the grocery store. They're like a dollar most places. Get the one with the sports screw top. It will function as a back wash nozzle and you save weight and space by not having to carry the syringe that came with the sawyer squeeze.
Those are my go-to for my backpacking setup! I’ll have to make another video reviewing that.
Will you please list links of your items? That would be awesome! North-east represent!
Awesome video
Thanks for watching!
If you are storing your gas canister in the side pocket I would stick it inside a beany hat just to give it a bit more protection against knocks.
Good vid man, keep it up!
Thanks for watching!
Be sure to link things next time im looking for that cooking kit now lol
www.amazon.com/Esbit-CS585HA-3-Piece-Lightweight-Camping/dp/B082NKVGPC
I had that Esbit cooking kit and didn't like the size of the pot. It works fine but I prefer a little larger pot so I can cook up that whole bag Knor rice. and get 2 large cups of coffee out of it,
@@Gingerouz I have that kit and it works great. Can be used with small pcs of wood as well, done it several times, but the fuel tabs work better imo.
Cool Video 👍
Thank U for the Info 👍
U got a new subscriber...
Greetings from Austria Vienna ✌️
now this is my opinion thoughts ideas i dont like gas cooking systems fuel tanks been known to leak . i use a stove that uses fuel tabs or sticks of wood . i carry a few extra fuel tabs to start fire . carry small bottle of vaseline multi use first aid fire starter etc . my fix blade knife is only 6" long never had a reason to split wood . have a folding saw get a better compass love my backtracker lots of info temp , coordinates , elevation etc . have about the same tent sleeping system got a military poncho for rain gear and cover tent in case of rain . live in central new york still have areas with no cell service i carry a hand held ham radio fishing kit and a side arm my bag is multi use BOB hiking camping etc .
had a second bag for work worked for a highway department this bag stay in plow truck . in my 28 years plowing roads i broke down a few times took 2-4 hrs to get someone to where i was .in bag was a change of clothes 5-6 hand warmers emergency blanket 1 mre snacks .
Good job, bro...well thought out, well organized. A few things I would do differently but you've got it covered your way. I can't really suggest any improvements. Nice work. Wait...Did I see a first aid kit? You need a first aid kit, dude.
I am pretty sure he showed a red one.
Not bad! Standard classic kit
You just need a power bank and charging cords for your cellphone
Yep! Good point. I failed to mention that my EDC pouch would come along too which has all that stuff.
@@davedovell9545 No I know everyone has their EDC with them, I just didn't know you had a powerbank and cords in your EDC.
Just a recommendation do not use Tuna packs. They are extremely inefficient at calories per weight ratio. They come in at 23 calories per ounce even a cliff bar comes in at 83 calories per oz and to be honest they are terrible as well but it's better then tuna. Just my recommendation.
Why why is your first aid kit not in front pockets ? What is in 2nd side pouch ?
I don’t aluminum for cooking set. Stainless steel is healthier option.
Nice kit but you need to protect your clothes better I noticed get all your clothes and put them in more plastic like if it’s going to rain for 90 years
Completely agree. I’ll try to get my hands on the thin garbage bags we use at work as they’ll waterproof it all and remain lightweight
what are you doing when alien's come from the moon :)
We know what a bug out bag is, quit yappin.
You talk to much get to the point I watched a 1:12 of this and got bored because talk to much
