Orchidomania Presents: Lighting Update Jan 2021

Here's a January 2021 update on what's happened with the test rescue orchids since August 2020.
So here were are in January 2012, closing on 5000 subscribers
Giovanni thinks we need to have a giveaway
But until the big 5K...Let's do a lighting update
I set up the Mars Hydro Lamp in August 2020
Tests: 2 rescue cattleya + 1 catasetum bulb
So 4 months later...Any improvements?
Cattleya A: new growth #1
Cattleya A: new roots
Cattleya B: Massive new growth
Cattleya B: new roots
2 growths on catasetum back bulb
There are signs of life but the orchids need help...
I decided to cut all the dead parts
Completely dry
Completely dry here too
I cut everything off
Oops these roots were green
Healthy vs Fusarium infected
and after a lot of dried stuff
this is all that's left
Repotting - layer 1: drainage
Repotting - layer 2: keeping humidity
Cattleya A is ready
Cattleya B is also super dry
Lots of stuff to remove
Completely dry too
It's all a dried up mess!
but they got a 'suntan' from the lights
just noticed one more growth here
The biggest growth I've restrained
again layer 1: drainage
and layer 2: keeping humidity
Here they are back under the lights
I will update their development

Fingers crossed these two cattleyas will progress well. Looking forward to the updates on these. That being said I really hope they pull through stronger then ever. Have a great day and enjoy the growing lights.
