hi guys! I'm Italian, and i wanted to explain to you the meaning of this song. I know that there are the subtitles, so everyone can read, but i believe it's good just to listen to the song and enjoy it without having to catch up with the subtitles: so there you go: This song is about a lament of death, and the metaphor of the bird is an elegant way to describe the death of the loved one. The forest itself is another metaphor of the world and the silver fog is the atmosphere of sadness and denial of reality that has been created around the two lovers, that are the protagonists of this song. Most of the it is about the promise of the one that is alive to never forget the one that has passed away "i won't stop calling your name, to continue to give life to your wish". The one alive is also trying to escape tears by creating an everlasting memory of the other person: "Let me cast my final spell, so your light may not know the darkness. May the wonderful golden dream not be soiled by the sadness of truth". P.S. here's the full english version of the lyrics: Oh ephemeral soul, You conceal yourself in the dephts of deception, Why do you continue to wait in the deserted forest? Having lost its wing, The bird closed its eyes in silence, The pain has gone, now the bird does not cry anymore, A soft silver mist, A soft silver mist, Softly embraces everything. Rest, rest in pace In the that i wrote, you can fly in freedom. Let me cast my final spell, so your light may not know the darkness. May the wonderful golden dream not be soiled by the sadness of truth. The forest of sin, which consumed the little bird, withered in silence. Fallen petals in the wind wrap, the pale cheeks with gentleness. That day, how many mysteries, Would i have had to solve to save you? Rest, rest in peace. In the illusion that you created, i came to know love. i won't stop calling your name, to continue to give life to your wish. There's nothing or nobody that will grab you, into the darkness of oblivion. Rest, rest in peace, my sweet love... in peace. Thumbs up so everyone can see this! :)
Gianni Banane OR, if you do believe that magic indeed does exist there (which I do, I did a lot of re-reading and looking info up, it's more likely to be true), then it's suddenly a song about that magic of this pair of lovers, this magic that will allow them to be with each other forever, this magic that they won't allow anyone to break or soil. That's the great thing about Umineko... it's up to your interpretation. :)
@Raven The anime is, to put it midly, bad :( It doesnt do justice to the source material as its not complete (it adapted only half of the story) and ommits a lot of super important elements, so you could get the wrong idea about the series. I wouldnt recommend watching the anime, especially when the vn and manga are so much better !
One of highlighted songs from my highschool days~
Akiko Shikata is like a Japanese Enya to me. Mystic, haunting and epic, all I need.
What is an Enya?
@@natturallyfreeriders7545 Enya is the name of a famous song artist. If you saw Lord of the Rings then you probably heard her song "May it Be".

Well, that's pretty much what happens in the novel.
Gianni Banane Thanks. The most detailed explanation I've ever seen for this touching song.

Thanks for the translation! A very pretty song. :)
Tell me, what is the pronunciation like? I've often wondered how natural the vocals sounded considering that this is a Japanese singer.
This song is truly beautiful!
Rest in peace, my most beloved witch, Beatrice.

Its also a visual novel, in which this song plays.
@Raven i highly recommend reading umineko for the full experience. with context, the lyrics...they hurt a LOT.
