You guys never dissapoint, looked through several videos of restoring white sneakers and no other video came close to the quality, informative and useful tip as your vid.
i cleaned the canvas shoes + laces by soaking them with a dishwasher tab overnight. works like a charm! some parts of sole unstuck but it was nothing a bit of glue couldn't fix
Im 45 and was poor in south jersey so i always cleaned people shoes for like $5 pair and they would drop them at my window. Don't just let them sit out to dry because sometimes you can get water stains. You put them in a washer on just spin and you can do it 2 to 3 times and theyll be dry within the hour and regardless def no water stains. Don't do rinse and spin you just do the spin without the laces and they wont get damaged because theyll spin so fast that its gnna be stuck on the wall while it circles. I used to put balled up socks inside them for the shape and id throw a couple clean white towels so it would absorb some of the water coming off your shoe. Def try this because drying them this way will make the process night and day and within n hr you could be wearing them.
Great tips! However, I'll throw my canvas shoes and gym shoes into my HE washer on delicate cycle, with detergent, 1 cup white vinegar, and 3-4 towels using cold water, then air dry. They come out looking brand new. For my leather sneakers I'll clean them using a micro soft rag with warm water, light dish soap, then leather cleaner. Once dry I'll use a Magic Eraser. They look new after. I'll typically have to do this twice a year with each pair I wear the most. Works perfect for the wear my shoes get.
When you have brushed away all the last dirt on white sneakers, you take a lemon, divide it in the middle and rub the open cut against the shoe and squeeze some lemon juice over the shoe while you rub. Then let the shoe stand in the sun and let the sun take care of the rest, as the sun bleaches the lemon juice on the shoe. So it must be real lemon. On white sneakers that may have stains or more severe dirt, you can actually apply toothpaste and rub into the dirt / stain. Then rinse in running hot water.
I'd love to hear your opinions on old workwear from the turn of the 1900s particularly in USA and UK. Some of these men were still managing to look formal and stylish in horrific working conditions. Particularly in the mining and oil sectors.
I have canvas sneakers. What worked for me really well is just a simple rubber. After each wear I take my rubber and scrub sneakers for max. 2min to remove all the stains. Guys that’s all you need for canvas sneakers. You don’t need to complicate. They are always looking like new, even after 2 months of wear.
@Damijan86: There are actually erasers made for cleaning leather goods. It looks a lot like an eraser for drawing, but it’s a little denser, and has just a little more abrasiveness. You can get them in white, and they do a really nice job on pretty much any leather goods. even on getting salt stains out of suede boots in the winter.
hi, i have some white leavther4 nikes that turned and ive cleaned them twice and still same light brown color. not yellow. im going to try toothpaste and ill let you know how it turns out. only wore the shoes maybe 4 times but have had them a while in my closet
Haha I was looking at my Nike shoes like "They need a clean" I searched it up and lo and behold this was the first video recommended, with my shoes being the thumbnail 😂
A great tip is to get a tub that can submerge the shoes in really hot water, mix with power white detergent and beach. Let it sit for 3 hours and just scrub off with a simple cloth. Works wonders
Canvas can go into a front loading washing. They need to go into trainer wash bags or a pillow case ti avoid damaging the drum, better to do at least half dull wash and on a gentle cycle with no spin.
I use the less harsh blue pad because the green Scotchbrite pad was fairly rough on the leather after a few cleanings, although it does work well on the unstriped sidewalls of all sneakers.
4:03 I cant seem to find any Leather Conditioner that's in a liquid form like yours online, and i dont know where to even look for Leather Conditioner, the ones i found online are some type of cream/paste that you also spread around the shoe, so...is it still advisable to use this type of Leather Conditioner??
Magic erasers are gold also, but be warned that they will matte finishes (if present), and possibly remove printed logos. However, they are quite effective in the right situations. Make sure they're wet.
.....love how the video says "don't have these expensive cleaners, clean them with things you have around the house"...then at the end it says "don't clean them just to get them dirty all over again, go and buy some shoe leather protector"....just when I thought i could do with everything I already have lol....is there some alternative to use to protect the shoes?
If you have canvas shoes (or any white shoe honestly), use detergent and a brush to clean and then cover the shoe with toilet paper. Leave it out to dry and boom it’ll be new shoe white. Whenever I cleaned mine and didn’t wrap it in toilet paper, the shoes would be this cream color after it dried. Give it a try and share the results!
I had someone spill red wine over my white laces (brand new leather sneakers!), the next day I soaked the laces in oxyclean with water. First they turned grey but then the stains completely disappeared.
I got some Jordan’s and can’t keep up with it. I hope this works. I keep cleaning them everyday…. But they just get dirty…. I got a second pair I only wear for nice dry days or when I go out to restaurant. I hope this works. Imma spend hours cleaning it. Gonna try this.
Thanks for the effort you've put into this. Unfortunately, this tutorial did nothin, apart from provide me with some cheap stock music to actually clean my shoes to.
Dude you gotta clean the inside, I call it a deep cleaning soap up all that dirty fabric and run water through it, get out all that foot sweat and shit,,then I usually put in brand new laces to give them that brand new glow
Place some white shoe cream over the scratch and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes to absorb into the scratch, then give it a light buff with a microfiber towel.
I had the same problem with scuff marks on the heels of my sneakers . My cobbler sold me a jar of white leather paint and that covered the scuffs that shoe polish didn't .
Great video! But is it any different with vegan leather? I have some small mud spots on my vegan leather sneakers and after brushing it a strange orange coloroured spot stays where the mudd used to be.. I can't get it out :/
@MaxVandermeer995; It’s been a year since you made your video, so I hope you found a solution that works for you. Just on the off chance That you’re still working a good solution out, my best suggestion would be to consider checking with the company that made your sneakers for the care instructions. There are a lot of companies making leather-like fabrics for use instead of leather, And they may be made of anything from cacti to synthetics to any number of other things. So it might be important to figure out exactly what you’re dealing with, before you can safely and confidently have a go with cleaning it.

How do you wash inner shoe of your suade when you're not supposed to wet it?
@@zrthtwfv I don't think you wash the inner shoe; or take it to a professional cleaner.
I'm not a gent but this is very useful information for ladies also. Thank you.
Great Job Thomas!!! You can also use a neutral or white shoe polish to add extra protection.
Thanks Will!
Needed to clean my jordan 12s searched up how to get the white back they said vinegar and water🤦🏽♂️ toothpaste did the job thank you 🙏🏽

The real secret to keeping your white sneakers white is maintenance cleaning. I use a wet microfiber cloth and wipe them clean every 1-2 week.

You MUST rinse off the detergent. Detergent leaves a sticky residue and attracts much soil and will make them dirtier than they were before.
I disagree

Is it to clean dirt alone or to remove the yellow stain on the white rubber sole...
Cool, cool, cool, but HOW do you clean shoe interior and material parts around the ankle?
This is what I came for. Want to get the lining in my Nike airs back to white
me too. I can never get that stuff white. I even tried chlorine free oxy bleach to avoid yellowing, but it still yellowed!

We use a ryobi 1800 psi pressure washer to clean cleats in the Big Leagues. We use it on the uniforms too so it would be safe for those converse.

Will toothpaste work on synthetic leather?
I would personally recommend buying brand new shoe laces. It does wonders to the appearance of after-wash
Wash the laces in washing machine?
Toothpaste worked well, Listerine to follow screwed it up.
True. Dude, trust me, ketchup works way better than listerine.
I'm assuming you forgot to floss afterwards...
