Everywhere I look today, conservative photo people don't seem to comprehed what and who this camera is for, and tirelessly demand it to be S5 II.
As a content creator open gate in most cameras is useless to me. It never seems to appear in a slow-motion format. Most of my clips are taken at 50fps or 100fps just in case I need to slow the footage. Also I rarely get asked to shoot for YT its all FB Insta and Tiktok nowadays. So Im constantly in vertical mode as per the brief. Also the image is bigger on my rear screen if I hold my camera vertically, plus its easier to frame esthetically instead of trying to judge two sets of frames markers intersecting. I really do think open gate is over sold, and a lot of content creatorors will buy the camera and end up reverting to vertical shooting. I think its YT reviewers that cant see this.
great video :) , am wondering what camera is used to shoot this video as the colours are so pleasing.

@@fredphillips2718 thank you got it :)
Thanks.
Fully understand that #PanasonicLumix is aiming at the "vloggers market".
Hope the #lumixS7 will be a full frame version of the GX8 for example with the tilting EVF, but an upgraded body to today standards... but for photographers first in mind.
The Sigma contemporary lenses will look great Lumix rangefinder FF.
Tied
what will the resolution be if you use L-Mount apsc lens on it?
Around the 8MP mark
Not for me. (1) price seems a little high considering the paired down features. (2) Inability to add an EVF when shooting in very bright sunny days when the rear screen is likely to be washed out is not handy. (3) I tried the S5II and found the menus very confusing since I don't shoot video other than clips with family. I suspect this camera has similar menus. A BIG plus is the weight. I'm sure there will be many buyers… just not me.
Earlier in a leaked specs video they said the menu was "simplified". I have yet to see a review that mentions the menu.
Its 35% cheaper than the S5ii in my country and thats with the 20-60 kit lens. I agree with everything they removed to keep the cost down. I dont use the VF especially in bright sunny conditions. One wrong turn and you'll blind yourself. My right eye is no longer perfect due to it adjusting everytime I stare at the VF.
@@PPLRRN The feature reductions are OK however I would have liked a "hot shoe" and an optional EVF. As I noted before relying on the rear TV is insufficient in bright sunlight. Finally at $1500US I think the S9 is a bit overpriced. By year end holidays the cost will drop to a more appropriate $1299US.
@@garydmorris That is true. A hotshoe will solve that. Perhaps in the S9ii, my guess is 1) the electronics required won't fit in the body in its current target dimension. 2) they probably think the ZVe1 didn't have it as well but was well-accepted by consumers.
In terms of pricing, they probably also thought its priced well below the ZVE1 and they still have better features like IBIS, Anamorphic desqueeze, LUTs, more megapixels, open gate, etc.
I plan to buy it in December.
Somebody will do this properly, because there's a good idea going to waste here. I think this is a mess. How hard would it have been to include a hotshoe, thereby giving the user the option of an EVF and other accessories? I also can't see that the 'full-frame look' is likely to be so very attractive to content creators. Not being one, I'm happy to be wrong about this.
amazing camera that gets my attention with Panasonic, but that pancake lens...
om system where is the best retro designes full frame ever seen?????
Is it April Fools Day? What a joke.
There are literally 1inch sensor cameras that cost more then this FF camera and yet folks have the Nerve to brag about that.
I have never been so underwhelmed by a camera release. The cost is way to high! They dumbed down things and then made other things complex. Positive: stabe and focus. Electronic shutter...cough, rolling shutter...cough... Overheating in HD mode after 20 min. The luts is just colour profiles and sims. The camaera point it to be small and then the only lens they give you is a manual pancake lens???? I wanted to be more positive!
If they a a good reasonably priced set of pacakes ($300-500) and drop the price bellow 1200 I think it would make a lot of sense for casual hobbiest like myself.
You got it wrong, it wont overheat after 20 mins. You can start another clip after. It would probably overheat in an hour.
Although I'm impressed with this camera, I think the Lymix S9 is primarily video centric. However, as a stills shooter, I am looking forward to an S7 photo centric camera with a mechanical shutter in the same sleek body design. That seems like an ideal camera to me. Especially if the sensor will allow you to use Leica M Mount lenses.
hey yall, fyi; It's (Mbps) megabit! not (MBps) megabyte! hahaha. it's quite a big difference since a 1MB megabyte is approximately 8Mb megabits.
so 50 megabits per second is approx 6.25Megabytes per second!
The cold shoe is wild to me. I’m interested as a little gimbal camera, especially with open gate. I wonder if you can monitor audio through the USB-C port with an adapter. I can’t justify buying it new at that price point, but I’d be game once it hits the used market or has some holiday discounts applied.
no it can't, Hugh brownstone tried using a variety of dongles. Your only hope is if Panasonic implements that function for their usb-c port as a firmware update. Frankly, the s5II is much better value and I suspect the luts in camera will also be implemented by many brands soon (except fuji who has film simulations already)
DJI Mic 2 will give you a headphone
Why is no one talking about the lens?
We will do a separate video using the lens. Let us know if you have any questions about it in the meantime.
I dont know what you mean, thats not like the Fuji X100 with a fixed lens. You can get *any* L-Mount lens you want on there.
@@lelandfitz1762 26mm f8 lens was released with this camera.
Zoom M3
Love the red and blue boy colors but a cold shoe, no headphone jack, and no EVF are bad features.
That's the perfect camera for active social media users or individuals who aim to create high-quality content using a dedicated social media camera and app.
Ok list for selfish me.

I think this camera was conceived by Panasonic to be a hardware extension of an app, for people whose creative/work life revolves around a smartphone. But, that market is also driven by the “cool” factor, and I’m not sure the S9 embodies that enough for buyers to go for the price. It’ll be interesting to see how the LUT angle plays out.
No EVF is an instant dealbreaker for me
Why? Do you only have one eye?
Super niche product.. This might become the worst camera release of 2024, if that award exist.
Only in Dave's hands does this actually look compact!
Little steep on the pricing imo
It's a content creator camera that is not meant for RUclips content creators? oops.
Well YT creators are mostly in studios. So they use external hdmi for recording with no limits, they dont need grip as its in a tripod or mounted. They definitely wont use the viewfinder as they are the subject. They dont use flash, they use lights. Ironic isnt it? And if they use cameras for B roll, its either in a gimbal or mount. Nobody pans and films a product using an EVF.
Congrats to panasonic who just made an A7c with less functionality 4 years later.
Sony a7c has drastically worse performance image stability though which is very important for a camera this small imo. It makes it a lot more useable for video when using barebones.
@@RandomMotoThings lucky you, you already compare them side by side.
A7c has real time lut?
@@noblekitty no but it has a grip, an evf, a mic and headphone port, a flash port and a mechanical shutter. Guess you can’t have all in once can you?
Just get an A7C if that's what you need 🤷
Ah, 2024... When you still have to pinch-grip your new and overpriced camera...
F8 manual focus lens?? LOL! Embarrassing...
I 😍 Evelyn - she is just gorgeous !!! One lucky dude is that there Jordan ! 🤣🤣
Woah there bucko! We all know it, no need to say it out loud 😂
@@bingbong4848 Bucko? Who the fuck you calling Bucko. Since when was it a crime to acknowledge the beauty in someone.
Images look overly brown and colors off
Some of them have a new LUT applied for a stylized look. :)
@@TheCameraStoreTV which camera was used to record the video? Looks good 😊
@@stringfellowhawk5361 Our main video body for this was the Sony FX3.
From a photo standpoint, it would have been nice to see a 45mp sensor in there, a hot shoe to add a viewfinder if desired, and better stills quality (I've heard electronic shutters degrade quality). The 14-28mm and 28-200mm look like a nice and light 2 lens set-up, just needs a better sensor.
The A7Cii and A7CR seem like better bodies for photos, but Sony doesn't have comparable lenses (still waiting for a 14mm zoom that takes filters (all the other manufacturers have them) and a 24-200mm (the Tamron 28-200mm can work in a pinch, but it's not wide enough for a walk-around lens)).
Is it weather sealed
no
Yes
I can't believe that's a full frame camera. It looks like a cheap point and shoot.
How can this camera be better from Sony A6700?
Full frame, better stabilization, 6k, open gate, shutter angle etc.
Boom! Add LUTs and instant uploads.
Guys, the number 1 question, when it comes to new Lumix camera, is how god is autofocus?
See 6:55 where we talk about and showcase the AF. it's the same performance as the S5 II.
