Thank You for more good episodes! The contractor is responsible for hiring experienced quality subcontractors, and ultimately responsible for the final results.
Mike and his crew are amazing, the work they do is incredible
Yay new episodes!
Issues are not serious outside of the deck railings. But Mike is right. Some of the work is sloppy or areas are under insulated/not sealed well in the garage.
I'd like to see what type of house Mike Holmes would build, & I would definitely consider buying it !!!!!!
20-25 shingle years is about 15 in human years
I know that without crazy house inspectors you would not have a show, but there should be some sort of quality standard (apart from blind) that inspectors should be held accountable too. It seems to me that anyone can become an inspector without any experience at all.
Wish he could come to USA and look at homes here....
Needs to redo where I live...
He had a very short series called "Holmes in New Orleans". Worked with Brad Pitt to help rebuild in the lower 9th after Katrina. Very different build styles from the Toronto area!
sounds just like tim o'brian and veridian homes put them up fast and put them so close together you can shake your neighbors hand.
Why is no home inspector ever held accountable in this program.
I would really like to see this man and/or woman who has once again neglected everything here and missed so much in the inspection.
I would really like to see these home inspectors held accountable and all costs recovered from them for so many visible defects that they missed, I really get the idea that any idiot can become a home inspector without even having to face the consequences that they burden home buyers with.
Without intervention from this program, these home owners would have to get into debt to repair these defects, and often the mortgage is already so high that they would not have the opportunity to repair anything at all.
because i think they put a disclaimer in their contract/reports and as mike says they can't open stuff up but they should be accountable when so much is right in plain sight
Maybe Canada should make home inspectors carry liability insurance in order to be licensed. I had contracts with my state in the US and they insisted that I carry a million dollars in liability insurance. I wasn't even doing anything that could cause immediate harm, if I screwed up.
@@maeverobertson1108 Yes, but just being on the property is a liability.
You could be a smoker who throws away a smouldering cigarette butt that burns the house down.
Lots of unforeseen scenarios that might end up in damage you are responsible for.
Look at the RE Agent who threw some clothes in a cupboard on a lamp which ended up causing a fire.
Detached garages all the way.
I was told, many years ago, the inspector was financially responsible for the visible damage he missed/ ignored.
I would of fought the construction across the street and said no to it
Can someone explain why everyone in Canada is idling their cars in garages????
Because it's freaking winter and they are warming up their cars.
@@aimeevanlandingham3844 I live in Denver (8 months of freezing temps) and would never idle my car in my garage. Probably the dumbest thing you can do regarding carbon monoxide.
@@thedon98677 you leave the garage door open.
Mike said he was surprised the residents couldn't smell the gases. Carbon Monoxide is odourless
it is but vehicle exhaust does have an odor to it and i believe that is what he was referring to
The second house at 100 years old was actually in pretty good shape except for the roofs. The original home inspector should have been able to see the issues with the front porch roof and the main roof, but failed to inspect them properly, which could have cost the home buyers tens of thousands of dollars.
Who is verifying , certifying and insuring the home inspectors? Where there is no accountability, there is no incentive for a quality inspection.
Need to sue the inspector
I wonder if Mike is still dealing with the many lawsuits that were brought up against him about the houses that were built wrong?
Yes he is But he was Duked too Support that Company SO He's Not Liable
If I understood the deal correctly, he wasnt in anyway involved in the actual building of the homes, but simply gave his seal of approval on how they were supposed to be to be build
@@rowdynoe9595 MIKE KNOWS HIS SHIT AND KNOWS WHAT HES DOING HE MENTIONED HE HAS ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE DESPERATE FOR HIS HELP
@@rowdynoe9595 that's the ultimate sleazebag move though. Sell your name with no accountability, profit off of it, let the people who know no better pay the price for it. Donald Trump 101.
@@zarda1484jealousy doesn't look good on you
Who runs there car WITH The door closed?
even if you open the door, the fumes are hotter than the air, so they go straight up into the ceiling area, not so much out the door unless you have a fan blow them out.
Those houses should of not been allowed to be lived in .to old and fire hazard with the tar and stone roofs
