Aww, he wants you to play with him! Sweet.
Planting my potatoes today. I always plant with the moon, too. Waning moon for root crops. When this bed gets harvested, I can replace with sweet potatoes in May. Kept over some of my purple sweet potatoes from last year to use.
Love this... my Grandaddy planted by the moon as well. Thanks for sharing
Good vid. That dog looks like a big ol' baby.
I cut them up as I'm planting them. I make sure there are 3 or more eyes on each piece. I've never had a problem. Here in southern Ohio, the old timers say plant anytime after st. pattys day, But I always wait until late April, because our last frost can be as late as mid May.
For potatoes you want to have high potassium and moderate phosphorus, they love potassium and it also does increase nutrient density. I tend to add like you azomite but i will add some Sulfate of potash to my beds as well just to really bump up potassium content. I am usually fine with the rest. I dose my beds a little heavier cause I grow heavy crops like corn and garlic and onions so my soil tends to be spent before I amend it for potatoes.
I was always told to plant potatoes on Good Friday. That’s what my grandfather did. Or by Good Friday.
Love the video been wanting to start homesteading on a small piece of property we just bought and are building. I was so excited to find a channel that was closer to home we live in the Beaumont area. Keep up the content it's been extremely helpful for us.
That's great that you have some land and you're building on it, grow and preserve as much food as you can, it looks like we might need it sooner then later the way things are going right now.
Lol dog is like "hey daddy here is my toy throw it" lol 😆 I have 2 labs. I understand the dog children with ADD lol
Great info pete
Thank you for this info very helpful. I will be trying these next year for the first time. I usually grow sweet potatoes. If am going to do both. Nice video.
Came to learn about gardening in Tx. Saw ur dog and fell in love! Used to have a dobie growing up named Rocky. Now we have a rottie (see profile pic) named Thor! Dobies and rotties r EXCELLENT dogs!!
Thanks Brother, good luck with the garden this year up there!
Hi Pete. Thanks for the advice about planting potatoes! Be well.
Nice video good information I just planted mine thanks for sharing
love the pincher!!
This year I was able to use old potatoes from last year's crop that sprouted and found some store bought ones that I planted also and they actually grew. First time growing Russets even though they were small. I got a bushel basket full of potatoes from a 4 by 4 foot section.
Didn't know that about the minerals will use this tip Thanks from Australia
Nice raised beds. 🥔 good vIdeo 👏
Good video good job thx for sharing
great share, thank you.
great sir
😊 enjoyed the refresher.. I'm planting my potatoes today, 1st time in years for potatoes.
Question: do you leave them in the green house the whole time? I'm new to the greenhouse, just finished ours yesterday, so this will be a learning year for that...
Blessings, and thanks again
We just bought a new place. So my garden is going to be a few weeks behind.
Hello Pete. How much water do you use after planting? What is the watering process for 🥔's?
Natural grocers are popping up everywhere there so not a bad place but may pay a premium. we just got one on Longview so Tyler will already have one.
Come on...throw the pup's Frisbee!
Pete what was the "T" Post Driver (Gas) that you used and would you recommend it?
Can you explain the tubs of water in your hoop house.
How often should we water newly planted raised bed potatoes
Poor baby, just wants to play! :)
are your dogs ( old german breed ) or american breed . I noticed how heavy body they are .
Looking forward to growing potatoes this year for the first time. Good stuff in the video that I will use. Would it help to use a rooting hormone? Would it hurt?
Keep bringing the videos!!!
how many potatoes(kg) are made from one gardener bed?
Hey Pete, I have to disagree on the nitrogen statement. Potatoes are a tuber and are fed by the leaves so the nitrogen is a critical component to potato growth.
Where in east Texas are you Sir?
Potatoes don't even need a raised bed... just put them under straw on the ground. They will grow.
Is there a such thing as hilling the taters to high
Where did you get your raised beds
I have a link to the raised beds in the description under the video under "Greenhouse and garden"
Where did you buy or how did you make those raised beds?
I put the link near the top in the description under the video.
You're ignoring your dog can't you just give him a pat on the head
Everyhody sais you can't plant store bought potatoes because they spray then with something to keep them from sprouting. Potatoes from Kroger.sprout on me all the time, so I cut the sprouts out and plant them, they produce every time.
I planted store bought and feed store potatoes, good luck to both of us.
Organic yes they will sprout , regular no.
