If you follow this guide, make sure to summon Hornsent for the Messmer fight and then talk to him right after, don't rest at the grace twice or he'll be gone. Otherwise it bricks the rest of his quest.
Yeah that happened to me I saw someone then I rested and he was gone
Same thing happened to me, i rested to level up and then he dipped
too late for me, got acknowledged now
Hornsent should be at High road cross if you didn't talk to him after Messmer (there is no npc icon, but he should be there)
Hope that gets patched soon
Btw guys you can’t get it if you’ve beat Messmer already I just found that out and I’m pissed about it. Now I have to wait till ng+

@@ZZ-bi3kt that’s the thing I wasn’t I just didn’t know this was even a quest line I’m cool with exploring but the fact that elden ring doesn’t even give you a clue that the person you’re speaking to has a quest is annoying because you miss out on so many good weapons/skills

This entire thing is whether you're fine with this Ash of War or Literally give up 2 talismans which are pretty darn good. It's the ones where you get bonus dmg every dodge or dash.
i was deciding between the rewards and i hadnt noticed the second talisman from leda so thank you kind soul for helping me w this choice. i am however running stright here NG+9 for that ash! but fr tho the talismans are way worth even if i do love the ash. sadly its only for backhand blades and theres not many in the game rn. Thank you again!

I think this quest bugged for me. Leda says the correct thing like how she is going to black keep after Hornsent. I have not killed Mesmer. I did accidentally go to his bossroom but did not kill him and the summon signs just won't appear.
Yeah many people are saying that just by entering the bossroom it causes the signs to not appear, not sure if it is intended or simply a bug.
@@GamerGuruOfficial I saw someone say they entered the bossroom but were still able to do the quest. I'm leaning more towards it being bugged but who knows.
@@eetu45I’m pretty sure it’s a bug as Hornsents summon sign still appears during Messmers fight and Leda is still talking about him being located in the black keep. This implies that his quest hasn’t been ruined, but we just skipped a step? I’m not too sure what Miyazaki was thinking if this was intended, so we can just pray that it’s a bug 🙏

You team up with Leda to kill Hornsent, I believe you get his armor and MAYBE his weapon, don’t know for sure though

Whats fucked up for me is that i summoned him for the messmer fight, we won, and all of a sudden he invaded me in a staircase on Ruah, idk why lol

I got a rl 150 ps4 character I use to dupe runes. If you can get it this early I’ll see if I can get it and drop it to my PS5 character since you can trade AoW.

@@rightousnesspursuer6523 although I do agree that it's annoying to keep track of quests. the main thing is they all reset at the site of grace. so I just kept that in mind that they always do that.
And I agree how much bullsh1t this affects a players who make their builds. cuz most if not all basically are dead runs where you have to go ngl+ I wish they gave us at leasta quest tracker XD. this isn't dark souls where the game is pretty much LINEAR.
