That was outstanding. Not only my favorite song by Glenn Miller, but it was one of my favorite song to play when I was in school when I was young. It wasn't the excitement of playing the trumpet part, it was sitting amongst all that great noise that just went all through me. Every section stood out and was all awesome. It felt like a journey into the music itself. They just brought that all back for me
Always said I was born to late love this kind of music I remember my father playing alot of Glenn Millers records the one that I wore out was in the mood and still to this day love hearing over and over. I thank those who keep the big band era alive and well.
A fine tribute to Glenn Miller, to the men and women of WW2 who sacrificed dearly for Western Civilization (including all of us and our grandchildren)! To that I can only say thank you. To those who sacrificed, this debt can never be fully repaid.
"String of Pearls" my all time favorite of Glenn Miller hits. Great musician gone way too soon and so tragically! Long may his memory and greatness linger on. I'm 78 so grew up on this music. 🎶🎺🎷🎶
@@zetty01 I know. It gets in your memory fro. Youth and it's there to stay. My dad was an MP stationed at pow camp. Mom was home with newborn me, and 4 older brothers. No family pay back then. Thank God my grandparents had a farm. We had milk, eggs and vegetables.that was 1942. I grew up listening to Mills Bros. Margaret Whiting and all the big name bands on radio. No tv then. Ha I grew up listening to it daily and love it still. My favorite song at 8 bbn years old was Margaret Whiting singing " Theres a tree in The Meadow"..... really dates me huh? 🎶❣🎶
To all the men and women who served in World War II, some who never grew old and are in cemeteries across France, Belgium, Germany and other European towns.
I'm not sure how anyone could give a negative comment, especially as the group has some young talent within. It's great to see all within that age group today enjoying MUSIC!!
Negative? How could you put down musicians who try hard for a tribute to the band. I suppose they expected the real Glen Miller band 7 decades later????
They're accidental clicks, most of them trying to click onto something else. Like why would anyone downvote a Michael Jordan dunk?? Obviously you clicked it to see him do it, yet, there are the DVs.
! Qué gran calidad de orquesta y qué excelentes músicos ! Al escucharlos se recibe la impresión que la vida humana en el planeta se exalta de emoción y de alegría.
I got to see these guys live (they are still touring just with new members) Unforgettable performance. Please if they end up near your town go see them. Best touring big band group there is.
At least the trumpeter with the ponytail wasn't allowed to ruin this the way he wrecks St Louis Blues March, for instance. what was he doing in this band? Comletely out of place.

Celia Milard - You have been watching too many films! String of Pearls was recorded on 3 Nov 41; you are thinking of Little Brown Jug, recorded 10 Apr 39! Miller was lost on 15 Dec 44.
That was "little Brown Jug" he wrote it for her. And he always played it on his broadcasts as a way of saying "hello" to her. The band played it in their performance the night his plane went down. She was listening and heard it. 🎶
I read somewhere that on Glen's original recording the iconic trumpet solo was played by the great Bobby Hackett. Bobby reckons he only just made it back to the recording studio in time to play this after lunch, and was pretty drunk. He reckoned he played it better that way.
I'ts sounds beautifully my Papa and Mama memorables they way do dancing and we were watching goodbye May GOD Blessed you both your Baby Amparing thank you very much ❤❤❤
This is better than the version I saw/heard in London in 1958 by the Ray McKinley led GM Orchestra. To be fair, it was at the end of a long tour and Ed Zandy, the trumpet soloist, ruined one of the most important passages of the piece. I still wince when I remember it!
A String of Pearls was number one this week 80 years ago. It still swings!
Funny! It really does. Miller was an amazing composer.

I grew up with Glenn Miller (yes, I'm that old) and I am thrilled to have found you. Thank you for the wonderful music.
Takes me back to high school days when I played in the dance band then and we played Glen Miller pieces. What a wonderful time that was!
AM.
Always said I was born to late love this kind of music I remember my father playing alot of Glenn Millers records the one that I wore out was in the mood and still to this day love hearing over and over. I thank those who keep the big band era alive and well.
My mother was born in 1924. She was a huge fan of big bands music. I remember her playing records and sometimes singing along. Great memories.
A fine tribute to Glenn Miller, to the men and women of WW2 who sacrificed dearly for Western Civilization (including all of us and our grandchildren)! To that I can only say thank you. To those who sacrificed, this debt can never be fully repaid.
Great music, great styling, and great musicians. Thank you Glenn Miller and thank you Thomas Nilsson.
If someone is listening to this in 2020 let me know, ok??!!

"String of Pearls" my all time favorite of Glenn Miller hits. Great musician gone way too soon and so tragically! Long may his memory and greatness linger on. I'm 78 so grew up on this music. 🎶🎺🎷🎶
my parents loved this stuff...my dad a WW2 vet...This music is so skillful and intricate, absolutely amazing

Agree with you!! But, as I´m 82, may I say: my favorite song is Moonlight Serenade .... Regards!!!
String of Pearls was the first music that my parents danced to!
Brilliant orchestra,
Great listening.
Thank you for sharing .very much appreciated.
To all the men and women who served in World War II, some who never grew old and are in cemeteries across France, Belgium, Germany and other European towns.
Such fabulous music with such great professionals! Thank you.
The greatest generation for sure, love of god and country .
A mis 70 años, esos sonidos geniales de orquestas iniguales, continúan adheridas a mi alma. Gracias.
Inmortal music... from USA with love... Cheers from Costa Rica.

No remake matches the intensity of the original for some reason.
85 tone deaf wallies with no sense of swing.

There's 109 thumb downs that need to go home and rethink their lives.
This is quite superb. Wonderful.
I love to dance with this music of A String of Pearls.

TIMELESS...AN EVERGREEN GEM....!!!
! Qué gran calidad de orquesta y qué excelentes músicos ! Al escucharlos se recibe la impresión que la vida humana en el planeta se exalta de emoción y de alegría.
Great to hear, almost the original arangements and performance. I crewup with this music so can tell!
O tempo das grandes orquestras passou. Ainda bem que temos um vasto registro histórico à disposição. Tempos inesquecíveis.
We saw them last night in Wichita Falls, TX and they were awesome!! ❤
I was in elementary shcool in the 50s and these GM songs were still very popular. I always loved this one and In the Mood.
São eternos !!
Glen Miller magnífico!👏👏👏💚💜💛❤💙🧡🎶💃🕺🙏🙏🙏
Melhor orquestra que já existiu. Maravilha ouvi-la.
Good to hear that the sax solos are improvised, but Bobby Hackett's iconic cornet solo is played as recorded.
I used to play that solo in high school. Didn't sound as good as this gentleman, but still...
I got to see these guys live (they are still touring just with new members) Unforgettable performance. Please if they end up near your town go see them. Best touring big band group there is.
Lindo recordar esta maravillosa musica. G. Miller, Beny Godman y tantos otros genios.
Love it especially the trumpet solo ;-)
At least the trumpeter with the ponytail wasn't allowed to ruin this the way he wrecks St Louis Blues March, for instance. what was he doing in this band? Comletely out of place.
That last chord is gorgeous!
Love these guys. They look so smart in their blue jackets 😍😍😍
this was the white soul of the 40s and early 50s...I remember back as far as 50, when I was 3 years old, my sisters would play this on 78 rpm.
Hermosas melodias que nunca pasaran de moda!! Bellos recuerdos que me remintan a la juventud de mis padres amados!!! 😍😘
Золотой век. На все времена.
Absolutely wonderful ❤️
É o passado presente com essa inesquecível orquestra!
FANTASTIC!!!! JUST LIKE GLENN AND SYD!!!!!
Bellísima música de hoy y siempre muchas felicidades y gracias por deleitarme con los recuerdos de lo que fueron las grandes orquestas
These guys seem alot more true to the Glenn Miller "sound" than the American band. It would be great if they toured the states.
What you say makes no sense
What he’s saying is this band which isn’t the American GMO (Glenn Miller Orchestra) has a better sound and I agree 100%. They have such a great sound.
The sax vibrato is so tight and very authentic to the original
and joined the US GMO
Joined the USA band on an encore
