Light won this off of adjusting to Sonix camping by pressuring with laser. Once he figured "forget it, I'll just pile on damage before playing your guessing game" he started using it to influence Sonix instead of guessing everytime. He even accounted for Sonix reacting to good laser positioning by choosing not to and punishing accordingly.
Once that happened Sonix didnt camp as much and this match became much more entertaining. Sonix even won some games but they were all close and brought out new ideas from both players. Light added layers to Fox's recovery and sees even more value in laser and Sonix had some creative sequences that can only come from performing and processing at a high level under immense pressure. You need that pressure and it goes without saying that his camp game relieves him of it.

I know people don't like watching sonix bc they don't like how he plays but you can't deny the guy is completely cracked at this game. He grinds hard n his streak of second places shows the caliber of player he is.
Oh easily, he’s definitely earned his spot as one of the best. So many people downplay it, I mean I don’t find watching Sonic as fun as other characters but he’s got some of the best fundamentals I’ve seen. He also has a Roy too I think
Nah sonix used to play lame asf. Now he actually gets kills and combos. He doesn't really suck at all to watch except qhen he needs to camp
@@Hershey_Kongwhat's crazy is he tried to make it one of those games this time, but light adjusted to his bait-n-runs and forced him to square up. It made for a good and exciting match and we got to see how good sonix can be, instead of how much faster his character is than the opponent's

I know Sonic isn’t a fun character to watch in general, but Sonix doesn’t camp nearly as much as people say he does. Like it depends on the matchup a lot, but if you want to see a Sonic player who really camps watch Ken lmao

This matchup has gotta be a pain in the ass for sonic since you can't run away from fox or match his frame data, but I love watching him scrap. It was a treat seeing this set go the distance. Very impressive that Sonix managed to bracket reset and go game 5 last stock. He very well could have won this. Light was playing with fire too but you can definitely tell from his gameplay he was losing steam, though he managed to clutch it out and secure 1st in the end.
And now, Sonic is no longer an easy dub for light.
@@Paradox_Of_Crota Looking at their head to head, he never really was. Light has a dominant set record of 9-2 but Sonix usually takes at least a game or two. About a quarter of the time light sweeps him though

Well, Sonix lost in grands for the 4th time in 2024, but his consistency is crazy. He hasn't missed grand finals in 8 months, since August 10th-13th when he got 25th at Super Smash Con 2023.
He has been to 10 tournaments ever since, winning 4 (one S+ tier and one P tier), and getting 2nd six times. And right before SSC 2023, he got 1st at GOML, and 2nd at Wavedash and Smash Factor. Absolutely insane consistency.
Sonix will eventually win one I’m a Sonix believer 😁
This grand final was fire, loved the gameplay from both players! That last minute was so tense. Congrats to Light!

This if my first time watching and I'm a bit confused. Sonix won the first set of games and Light, the second, yet he won overall? Is this something to do with reset? What does it mean and how does it work? Would appreciate anyones help
Because light was still in the winners bracket on the first set. When he lost he went to the losers bracket. That is known as a bracket “reset” because it’s a double elimination bracket. Since sonix is already in losers bracket if he loses at all this his second loss so the tournament is over.

This was actually a ton of fun to watch. No hate to sonix, dude plays so damn hard. But this came down to the wire and was so great. Both players killin it

No surprise that this set is almost an hour long
42 minutes for a 9 game grand finals with a few minute breaks in between isn't that bad. Average time for the games is about 4 minutes.
U only saying this cause Sonix is in it, when game 5 after reset for this long is normal

How do you air dodge out of spin attack? The only cancel I know is the down air from downb
Charge a Spin Special > jump cancel with Spin Shot manoeuvre > air dodge downwards.
Difficult to grasp at 1st, but consistent practise will grant you access to safer & quicker Spin Cancels.

I feel like Sonix showed a new facet of this matchup yesterday: a few of Sonic's moves outrange Fox's moves by a decent amount.

One thing I noticed about Sonix in this matchup, he is inconsistent on his techs. And vs someone like light that can punish missed techs AND punish habit techs, it’s the worst thing for sonix in this matchup.

What an amazing set. Noone will ever be able to play Sonic like Sonix, the guy does so many precise things to keep things this close against the scrap god Light. Can't even really say the one forced error SD in True Finals was that bad since again, fairly forced from the oppression Light had at the ledge there.
The death blow really seemed to be Battlefield. Even though it was still last game last hit, Light was controlling Sonix's approach so well when he had the advantage and Sonix was cross-stage side platform, every laser scenario there was him just ready and waiting. Thankfully Sonix still found his edge guarding oppression the whole set, only letting Light escape a couple of times, and even on Battlefield maximized his platform confirms (it's not like Sonic is at all bad there, Light just controls the ground better).
...it's still rough watching Sonix not get the crucial dubs against Light, but at least this performance was neck-and-neck. Shit was real on that last stock, every laser counted.

Exactly man people will literally watch this or Sonix vs Sparg0 and act like it’s the same as him vs ShinyMark. When the matchup permits it Sonix will absolutely play Sonic like an aggressive rush-down character and I’m happy there are people who appreciate it. I wanted him to break the streak but either way I fucking loved this set good stuff to light
@@das6235 It's not that the matchup permits it, it's that Light tries his best to prevent Sonix from camping. I'm using the word ''tries'' because even here there were some instances where Sonix had a significant lead and started circle camping.
