Can confirm, the public safety department I work at uses solely DJI drones which are extremely helpful and life savers.

The DJI MIMO app is a real threat!
I just recently bought the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 just to realize that you cannot use it without first activating with this app. Then I searched for a security analysis of this app and it is just terrible. It sends all your facebook contacts to china, among others. It has been even thrown out of Google Play some time ago for how terrible it is.
Now I'm waiting for a new phone so that I can use it withough a sim-card and with a new google account solely to activate the cam. There will be no usable data on that phone for the chinese to steal...
Having thousands of DJI drones in the security services is just an unimaginable threat to the national security...

This will literally set America back decades if we lose access to DJI gear. Inspections, Search & Rescue, mapping, agriculture, Hollywood content creation. The list goes on and on. I don't think these guys realize just how far back this will push us.

@@MrZpilot I'm sorry to inform you that the ban will affect ALL drones and drone parts made in China. So, it will impact the DIY drone makers as well.
If the worst case scenario comes to pass, I will NOT be replacing DJI equipment with anything made by the Sacklers of the drone industry: Skydio.

I think it's great news that first responder's are opposed to the ban. I really hope it works out on our favor. I can't even imagine how bad it's going to be if that ban goes through.
I have a quick question about that flight path for DJI care refresh. Isn't the flight path still on the drone when flying? Because I thought it was. I don't see any reason as to why we should back it up, unless we want to for our personal record.
I could be wrong, I'm just a hobbyist and don't really know too much about it. I just love to fly and have fun while doing it.

The bill has been rolled into HR-8070 and is no longer a standalone bill. Keep an eye on HR-8070 (section 1722) as it just passed the House today.
I do not see the Senate doing anything different than the House Of Representatives and passing it as well!
I hope Biden is not naive like the other politicians in the House and Senate and just vetoed the bill.

Great video! From what I understand if it goes through. Drones sold and equipment sold prior to it passing will still be usable. How that's going to work I've no clue. It's great to see so many agencies pushing back. As well as agriculture. I for one would be wrecked if I can't use my drones and equipment!! Our business is literally all DJI as I'm sure thousands of others are.
I’ve read that ALL DJI drones won’t be able to fly because they will restrict the DJI flight systems from taking off.
I am afraid that is not true. ALL DJI products will be banned from using FCC frequencies in the USA. That includes....ALL DJI drones and everything else that has a DJI name on it.
How it's going to work? Just like normal. Turn it on, turn on the controller, take off.

Warranty and Care Refresh, etc. are binding contracts. DJI can't just terminate them because of a change in circumstances like this. As a practical matter, all the lack of sync means is that you'll need to get the data to DJI a different way, by extracting it from the controller and/or drone and uploading, etc. In the case of a flyaway for example, you wouldn't have the drone anyway and would need to get them the data from the controller or mobile device. So it's a bit more work on the user side, but not a big deal.
I guess we will see
DJI are a Chinese company. Not a lawyer but I hear international civil cases are a mf to win.
I mean, yeah they definitely can. What are you gonna do, sue them? They're a Chinese entity. If they wanted, they could literally make like a 1:1 copy of the Skydio, and nothing could be done about it.
Then, if they get "banned", you're trying to say you're going to hold a company responsible to their word, when they are on the opposite side of the world, in somewhat of an "enemy" nation, and not even legally able to operate inside the US? Or what?
They can do whatever they want . If USA BANS them, YES THEY CAN not honor a “ contract”. WHO are you going to sue to fight for your contractual agreement ? Good luck. They disappear period. They don’t have to do one thing to honor anything. You will be out of luck trying to get any restitutiion.

USA, develop comparable drones to DJI’s but with special regulatory features that protect USA security.

I never understood why you have to sync or update the firmware all the time ...we all know that updates in computers are not just to download but also upload data and personal information of web usage and other personal information

I wanted to share my perspective on the current discussions regarding the potential ban on Chinese drones in the U.S. It seems to me that this ban does not truly reflect a genuine concern from the U.S. government about Chinese drones. Rather, implementing such a ban would eliminate approximately 90% of recreational drones sold in the U.S., significantly reducing the number of drones flown in this country.
Additionally, it's worth noting that the momentum for this ban only started to build after SkyDio's exit from the consumer drone market. This timing seems more than coincidental and suggests that other factors may be influencing the narrative.
I believe it is crucial for us to address this issue from this perspective in our messaging. Your insights and support in this matter would be highly valued.

you can manually pull the flight log for your warranty. You do not need to sync
Ya if I'm not mistaken, the flight logs can still be stored in the fly app/smart controller itself.

I watched the capability rise and prices fall on these drones for 7 years, afraid to commit. 3 months ago I took the leap and bought a Mini 4 pro, and an Avata 2 a few months later. Then this happens... I'm still making payments on my Avata 2.
Even if this gets shot down the hobby will remain shrouded in depressing uncertainty. I'm starting to severely regret my investments.

I work in Emergency control ministry of Russia. We are engaged in searching for people, monitoring fires, floods, exploration, and we are severely replacing dji drones with Russian devices. But Russian drones are much inferior to Chinese leaders. And this of course greatly affects the quality of our work. We got some good russian airplane type of drones but in quads sector all very sad

Those DJI Public Safety drones are magnificent machines, Theyve got 4 or 5 cameras to find people, they can carry water and supplies into places that need it. They can search for hours and remember where they left off. They are perfect for working on high voltage lines. Breaking ice off these lines has to be done and if this bill passes, people will again hang on the outside of helicopters with a long metal pole to do this. its a scary and risky job and people die doing it. Lets get whomever introduced this bill to hang outside a hellicopter on a winters day. Geez whats the wind chill factor on that? -200 degrees or somethin. I dont think Police depts are gonna give them up, thats too much capability. Even racist, seperatists can see that
Don't expect much, the DJI ban is buried in this Defense appropriation bill request and no one will take the time to read thru it. DJI could do a Microsoft OS kill update and ground all US DJI Drones with a simple update as a retaliation to the ban. I've seen this technique before in other products to enforce planned obsolescence.

The said thing is that probably the vast majority here did absolutely nothing to let their congress representative know. Commenting here will do nothing, do your part and contact your congressman, congresswoman and senator.

USA is unable to ban GUN sales and ownership to public. In some states, unable to enforce bikers to wear helmets for their own safety. But USA can easily pass laws to ban drones from China due to links to CCP and national security concerns. Is the US Government gonna buy back all your DJI drones if it was banned? Or is there even any equivalent US made drone capable of to take over the first responder, agriculture, mapping type roles at the similar price range? Hope turns out well for you guys.

The problem with drones are back when our forefathers made the constitution they didn’t know about drones…….. like the 2nd amendment for firearms. I know you’re trying to justify drones because first responders are using them and law-enforcement. All they would have to do is make it amendment to say civil service are the only ones allowed to be licensed for them….. which would piss me off because I just ordered a DJI Mavic 3 Classic. But that wouldn’t stop me from operating it and doing what I wanted to do, just like they can’t stop felons from getting their hands on firearms…….

Dji did not screwed up. They comply FAA and FCC, CAA etc requirements. It wasn't their choice. They made the DJI Mini's for more freedom as they did not want the hobby to die.

I am not a drone owner/pilot, but this is wrong. BUT, I do believe we need no-fly-zones and regulations to protect people's privacy and safety. I don't want a drone flying over my house. I don't want Amazon and Walmart buzzing around my neighborhood landing in people's yard with their deliveries. What is to stop paparazzi from hovering over someone's house all day? What is to stop peeping Tom types hovering over people's houses who own swimming pools? I am new to this conversation, so maybe there are regulations in place.
There are plenty of strict rules already. Some rules are even ridiculous. Regarding flying over your house is permitted by law as long as its just passing by at a certain altitude, for privacy reasons. Helicopters are doing it aswell anyway. People over react over quadcopters because of the corrupted media. There are strict laws in place, pilots are trained in order to legally fly,even as hobbyists, this isn't something you should ever be worried about
