Now I'm waiting for a new phone so that I can use it withough a sim-card and with a new google account solely to activate the cam. There will be no usable data on that phone for the chinese to steal... Having thousands of DJI drones in the security services is just an unimaginable threat to the national security...
You think that matters? Votes don’t matter anymore it’s a rigged system and corrupt officials know this and will continue to cheat us and line their pockets with kickbacks from companies to ban their competition
No reason to. They don't work for us. Getting American's to band together is hard with CNN/FOX dividing America right down the middle and conquering it.
Or maybe start looking at the bigger picture of what China has been up to lately. Military aged males traveling in groups with no family in tow, the number of Chinese nationals falling into that group that crossed our southern border has increased over 300 percent in the last 18 months. China has purchased a scary amount of American farm land as well as any land they can purchase adjacent to our military bases. You really think that is all nothing? Everybody just going to pretend none of that means anything? We have probably never been weaker in terms of our military, look at what all the woke crap alone has caused. We have a giant bullseye painted on us and they are taking aim at it. We all know those drones being used to inspect critical infrastructure are packed full of targeting coordinates. The military that would like to see us fall also has control over the company that produces the drones. Does anyone really believe they are not exploiting that data? What data were those ballons they shot down finally collecting? How much risk to our national security is acceptable? It’s time to start acting like patriots rather than spoiled children. I don’t want to give up my drones either, but what good will any of them be if/when our grid gets taken out? There is way more behind this than skydio lobbying to get there competition banned, sorry but there is whether everyone can accept it or not. I will not be party to giving useful data to a foreign power that basically hates us. I guess everyone else must decide where they stand on the matter though
This will literally set America back decades if we lose access to DJI gear. Inspections, Search & Rescue, mapping, agriculture, Hollywood content creation. The list goes on and on. I don't think these guys realize just how far back this will push us.
Just the money that everyone has spent to protect lives and keep food prices lower will all be lost. This bill goes deep. Glad to see DJI stepping up and helping. Thanks for the vid
I think it's great news that first responder's are opposed to the ban. I really hope it works out on our favor. I can't even imagine how bad it's going to be if that ban goes through. I have a quick question about that flight path for DJI care refresh. Isn't the flight path still on the drone when flying? Because I thought it was. I don't see any reason as to why we should back it up, unless we want to for our personal record. I could be wrong, I'm just a hobbyist and don't really know too much about it. I just love to fly and have fun while doing it. Thanks for the update and for sharing JD. I love the content. Thanks again my friend. 👍👍👍

I hope she gets voted out of office. She will be facing both Republicans and Democrats in the next election. This freshman has done too much damage to our hobby for a short time.
Great video! From what I understand if it goes through. Drones sold and equipment sold prior to it passing will still be usable. How that's going to work I've no clue. It's great to see so many agencies pushing back. As well as agriculture. I for one would be wrecked if I can't use my drones and equipment!! Our business is literally all DJI as I'm sure thousands of others are.
I am afraid that is not true. ALL DJI products will be banned from using FCC frequencies in the USA. That includes....ALL DJI drones and everything else that has a DJI name on it.
I for one am going to contact Skydio and tell them what I think of their tactics as well as turning my $15,000 Matrice M30 T thermal drone that I use to make my living, into a giant expensive paperweight! I’m going to encourage my friends who are also in the business to contact them as well! To say that I am royally, pissed off is a huge understatement!
We should all contact them and tell them to put on there big boy pants and bugger off. If they're product is not good then get the hell out of the market.
Warranty and Care Refresh, etc. are binding contracts. DJI can't just terminate them because of a change in circumstances like this. As a practical matter, all the lack of sync means is that you'll need to get the data to DJI a different way, by extracting it from the controller and/or drone and uploading, etc. In the case of a flyaway for example, you wouldn't have the drone anyway and would need to get them the data from the controller or mobile device. So it's a bit more work on the user side, but not a big deal.
I mean, yeah they definitely can. What are you gonna do, sue them? They're a Chinese entity. If they wanted, they could literally make like a 1:1 copy of the Skydio, and nothing could be done about it. Then, if they get "banned", you're trying to say you're going to hold a company responsible to their word, when they are on the opposite side of the world, in somewhat of an "enemy" nation, and not even legally able to operate inside the US? Or what?
They can do whatever they want . If USA BANS them, YES THEY CAN not honor a “ contract”. WHO are you going to sue to fight for your contractual agreement ? Good luck. They disappear period. They don’t have to do one thing to honor anything. You will be out of luck trying to get any restitutiion.
Wow, this actually now has a new contract on hold worth thousands to me because of this potential. The ripples through the industry on both user and customer because their futures of sustaining their end products are in jeopardy as well. Thanks for the posts you do.🇺🇸
It's good to finally hear about the groups standing up to oppose this ridiculous proposal to ban this technology. DJI needs to have a US server thats capable of verifying warranty issues. Our infosec teams can then ensure that data is properly collected and managed.

That was one of my main concerns if they disable the data sync. I had a flyaway with my Air 2s a few years ago and the only thing I feel saved me was the data info. So what do we do now if that info is not available anymore?
Well you hobbyists should have minded your own business. The moment you people started to use these drones to look into the lives and proclivities of the powerful, and present this evidence to the people, you over stepped your place.

This is super annoying. I use my dji drone all the time, and if they get banned I would probably jailbreak it just so I can still use it. The least the government could do is give all U.S. dji owners some sort of compensation, as they paid for those drones.

I wanted to share my perspective on the current discussions regarding the potential ban on Chinese drones in the U.S. It seems to me that this ban does not truly reflect a genuine concern from the U.S. government about Chinese drones. Rather, implementing such a ban would eliminate approximately 90% of recreational drones sold in the U.S., significantly reducing the number of drones flown in this country. Additionally, it's worth noting that the momentum for this ban only started to build after SkyDio's exit from the consumer drone market. This timing seems more than coincidental and suggests that other factors may be influencing the narrative. I believe it is crucial for us to address this issue from this perspective in our messaging. Your insights and support in this matter would be highly valued. Best regards, Lead Coordinator & Remote Pilot Trainer, Syosset Fire Department
I never understood why you have to sync or update the firmware all the time ...we all know that updates in computers are not just to download but also upload data and personal information of web usage and other personal information
I work in Emergency control ministry of Russia. We are engaged in searching for people, monitoring fires, floods, exploration, and we are severely replacing dji drones with Russian devices. But Russian drones are much inferior to Chinese leaders. And this of course greatly affects the quality of our work. We got some good russian airplane type of drones but in quads sector all very sad
The panic over the is an indicator of a DJI monopoly. We need a healthy competitive market. It makes no sense to have the vast majority of our first responders rely on one brand only, a foreign national entity. DJI has already announced strategic alliances and partnerships in response to the proposed ban. I’m pretty they’ll maintain market leadership even with a ban. I’m against government overreach but we have a toxic monopoly in the drone market. Something needs to change, healthy competition benefits the consumer
Well considering that Skydio has the ability to compete as a US company. Yet doesn't want to because they are too good for the consumer market. They have used their influence to take down DJI. SO blame the people who caused this. Not a company who has been shown for years to WANT us to have great products!
It is a competitive market. I've flown UAS from just about every American manufacturer and others from several other countries and they all have the same issues....they just aren't as good. When it comes to public safety, they need to be placing the best aircraft in the air, not the one they are forced to purchase because of lobbying by American companies. If they want public safety to purchase their UAS, make them better.
USA is unable to ban GUN sales and ownership to public. In some states, unable to enforce bikers to wear helmets for their own safety. But USA can easily pass laws to ban drones from China due to links to CCP and national security concerns. Is the US Government gonna buy back all your DJI drones if it was banned? Or is there even any equivalent US made drone capable of to take over the first responder, agriculture, mapping type roles at the similar price range? Hope turns out well for you guys.
A DJI MIMO app which spies on everyone who installs it on his phone is a real threat to the national security compared even with guns in the public in the US...
Update: H.R. 2864, the Countering CCP Drones Act, has been incorporated into H.R. 8070. Specifically, the provisions from H.R. 2864 have been included as Section 1722 in H.R. 8070, which is the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025. This larger bill addresses various aspects of national defense and servicemember welfare, with the drone-related provisions being a part of the broader legislative package.
If this bill passes the American people should boycott voting for any candidate, any party, any bill etc. There is zero proof that data is being collected other than a flight record for warranty purposes. Our rights and democracy are being taking away from us piece by piece and that has nothing to do with party affiliation. This bill was introduced by Republicans and supported by both parties. Bottom line, DJI makes the best drones used in so many industries and even public safety. I make a partial income from my DJI drones, without them I may not be able to pay my bills. I for one may never vote again, I don't want to be responsible for electing idiots that lie and take our rights and democracy away.
The said thing is that probably the vast majority here did absolutely nothing to let their congress representative know. Commenting here will do nothing, do your part and contact your congressman, congresswoman and senator.
Don't expect much, the DJI ban is buried in this Defense appropriation bill request and no one will take the time to read thru it. DJI could do a Microsoft OS kill update and ground all US DJI Drones with a simple update as a retaliation to the ban. I've seen this technique before in other products to enforce planned obsolescence.
The government is being asked from American companies more time to copy or develop American built drones, national security issue is no issue that is ridiculous .
I would say that the person who submitted the bill. Should be set responsable to return our monies. What ever we paid for our drones. Approve it but make this person that submitted the bill to pay all drones we all have in the states. Maybe he will think about it.
Those DJI Public Safety drones are magnificent machines, Theyve got 4 or 5 cameras to find people, they can carry water and supplies into places that need it. They can search for hours and remember where they left off. They are perfect for working on high voltage lines. Breaking ice off these lines has to be done and if this bill passes, people will again hang on the outside of helicopters with a long metal pole to do this. its a scary and risky job and people die doing it. Lets get whomever introduced this bill to hang outside a hellicopter on a winters day. Geez whats the wind chill factor on that? -200 degrees or somethin. I dont think Police depts are gonna give them up, thats too much capability. Even racist, seperatists can see that

Best regards,

What happened to land of the free ?
I've been told recently the blll already passed the house and will now be moved to the Senat. Hope it's just a rumor.
I never understood why you have to sync or update the firmware all the time ...we all know that updates in computers are not just to download but also upload data and personal information of web usage and other personal information
Does anyone know how this affects those who just use the goggles and vtx systems?
I'm being told it passed 56 to 1 so what does this actually mean for normal flyers
GOOD job!! Thanks...
Becaue the Russians know exactly how dangerous these drones (more exactly the apps you HAVE to use with these drones) are...
First responders choose DJI drones for a reason
It is a competitive market. I've flown UAS from just about every American manufacturer and others from several other countries and they all have the same issues....they just aren't as good. When it comes to public safety, they need to be placing the best aircraft in the air, not the one they are forced to purchase because of lobbying by American companies. If they want public safety to purchase their UAS, make them better.
This is a terrible situation. If i cant use my t40 to spray crops I'm screwed.
What bag is that in the corner?
So is the ban for dji only or all Chinese drones like Geprc as an example ?
All made drones made in China CCCP.
USA, develop comparable drones to DJI’s but with special regulatory features that protect USA security.
Still flying my 3DR Solo.
We need to vote out Elise Stefanick. New Yorker's please help us.
This larger bill addresses various aspects of national defense and servicemember welfare, with the drone-related provisions being a part of the broader legislative package.
oldguyFPV; You Can't Comply Your Way Out Of Tyranny! Fly safe, fly free!
So can we use any other drones?
Only American Made drones, for now... until they ban the entire hobby.
The drones are not the problem. The problem are the DJI apps you install on your phone which are spying on you for the communist party of china...
This doesn't seem to be very well thought out.
I agree. Elise doesn’t seem to be aware of the amounts of people relying on Dji technology to keep people safe and food on the table.
Thank you! ;-) T
I’m pretty sure it got tabled until Monday.
USA is the kid that when is not winning he take the ball and leave, the problem is he doesn't own the ball
The said thing is that probably the vast majority here did absolutely nothing to let their congress representative know. Commenting here will do nothing, do your part and contact your congressman, congresswoman and senator.
Can you list the congressman and women that voted for the ban?
Don't expect much, the DJI ban is buried in this Defense appropriation bill request and no one will take the time to read thru it. DJI could do a Microsoft OS kill update and ground all US DJI Drones with a simple update as a retaliation to the ban. I've seen this technique before in other products to enforce planned obsolescence.
Look up who of those public servant's who have stock in Skydio....
These old people deciding to ban the drone is the main problem. wtf ya do with yall lives?
I'm in EMS and I object. DJI is the best ...
The government is being asked from American companies more time to copy or develop American built drones, national security issue is no issue that is ridiculous .
What will I do with the thousands of dollars invested in equipment alone?😅
I would say that the person who submitted the bill. Should be set responsable to return our monies. What ever we paid for our drones. Approve it but make this person that submitted the bill to pay all drones we all have in the states. Maybe he will think about it.
you can manually pull the flight log for your warranty. You do not need to sync
Ya if I'm not mistaken, the flight logs can still be stored in the fly app/smart controller itself.
Even racist, seperatists can see that
I just flew my mini 4 yesterday to film a brush fire. I haven't tried to fly it today. Wow, this is terrible! Screw tiktok, I don't even use it, and I get irritated when I see the youth doing dumb dances in public because of it.
Ban all the things! TikTok, guns, drones, what’s next cell phones???? I mean how many people have their phone on the dash for gps? Think of all that free video that could be pulled and us not know about it???
This happens literally when I pass my Part 107 test and want a DJI drone.....America....lol
I'm studying for mine now..... and I have purchased both the 3 and the mini 4. Cash! Haven't even flown them yet.
This sucks...
Just came across this video after I already ordered the DJI FPV kit. Hopefully Amazon accepts my unopened return. It seems like DC already made there minds up and this will be forced through. Sleepy Joe will sign off on anything so I’m not hopeful, we’ll see!
List their names!
We ALL want our money back Plain and Simple....
My understanding is that this is not so much about banning drone use, but DJI because of its Chinese origin - part of the whole US vs China saga
How much money are those people getting in kickbacks from American made drone companies ?
Yet, we let a Chinese spy balloon fly over a nuclear site
Google earth collects more data and pictures then DJI drones
