  • The Scottish Greens will not support First Minister Humza Yousaf in a confidence vote next week after their power-sharing deal with the SNP collapsed, the party has said.
    Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf called an emergency meeting of his Cabinet on Thursday morning amid mounting tensions between the two parties.
    Yousaf's political future now hangs in the balance as he relies on Alex Salmond's Alba Party for a single vote to see him through the no-confidence vote.
    In this video, Andrew Marr puts Alex Salmond on the spot: will the Alba Party decide to save the Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf in next week's no-confidence vote?

      As a nation, we appear to have reverted to type. At heart, we seem to be a tribal, sectarian people who waste precious time and energy constantly feuding instead of working to make our lives better. Meanwhile, our NHS is on its knees, our once-proud education system is going down the toilet, and the drug death problem worsens daily.
      Seventeen years in office, and the party in power have achieved precisely nothing. Instead, they use the executive to draft laws that openly attack the people they are supposed to be working for (the "secterian singing" law; the "named persons" scheme; the latest "hate speech" legislation).

    • @tomspyro5795
      @tomspyro5795 Месяц назад

      We don’t elect a pm we elect mps from parties and the winning parties leader becomes the prime minister. That’s how our political system works, maybe vote for a political party that advocates reform to the political system? If a political party was in power that you supported you probably wouldn’t have the same issue you have with unelected prime ministers. I agree that Rishi needs to go tho

    • @simonkapadia7582
      @simonkapadia7582 Месяц назад

      It's just your ignorance of the constitution. A) No PM in modern times is unelected, they are constituency MPs elected by voters. B) Leaders of parties are precisely that, they are subject to a leadership process determined by their party. C) The Prime minister is the person who holds the confidence of Parliament, meaning they are able to maintain majority support either through their party, or through an arrangement, whether that is for minimal support (as with the DUP in May's time) or through coalition (2010-2015).
      And we *can* have a vote of no confidence in the Westminster Parliament. But the current PM has a majority, so it's not going to happen unless it is via a confidence motion within his party, which can happen, but would likely result in a new leader of the same Parliamentary majority, which you would then erroneously claim was unelected.
      Get a basic education in how your own country works before opining on it. I realise there is little to no education in our education system, but make a basic effort for your own betterment.
