Fantastic work from Lewis Goodall, i've never seen Jacob Rees Mogg look like hes about to lose his temper because he got totally cut off from any of his usual lines out of answering a question. Like here where he's upset at what he obviously sees as Lewis's uppity rudeness - how dare you ask me about that, like that! As for Truss, if the Tories still think Truss is worth listening to, they've got a long way to go. In fact, they haven't even started.

that was just the start of their damage. unless labour can return to the centre-ground at least, the right wing Tories will continue to pull the Overton window further towards the extremes. there's very little sensibility left in British politics (and western politics more generally), and we desperately need it back before it becomes our undoing.

@@Ajalemes Labour has returned to the center ground though? Ultimately, demographics and liberal attitudes in society means that the Tory party and the media can try and shove the overton window right, but it won't stick if the population won't vote for them.

    • @Ajalemes

@@hayleyxyz they moved to the centre following Corbyn's removal but they've since been leaning further and further right. Starmer is unable to pick a side on social issues, and vows to maintain Tory monetary policy once he gets into office. I appreciate there are many left wing MPs in the party but they're actively having the whip removed for mentioning their left wing opinions.
you're right though, in general the Overton window will return to sensibility over time. I worry about the takes on immigration that exist across the political spectrum however, and this likely won't sort itself out for many generations.
