Ellie makes a comment that it sucks, she probably felt guilty about leaving Dina at the theater and she feels guilty about how she acted toward Dina because she really does love and care about her.
Although, it might lead to another person being immune, like how Ellie became immun because when she was a newborn her immune system learned how to fight against it..
I feel in such a situation as there’s, telling any sort of signs of whatever might be a good idea to say early on as soon as you notice them occurring-
