Denny once again your video is outstanding, sometimes we have to use common sense with 2 tropical storm brewing in the Gulf and the Caribbean sea naturally the waves are going to be challenging . Stay sage Denny and Crew
Hi Dennis, I see this is adventurous to some, but I see safety for all is a priority. I wondered, why is a life jacket not worn by each and everyone on that trip?
Did anybody get sea-sick? Or did you edit out that? Years ago, a group of young people from Georgetown came down to Parika and wanted to go to Leguan for one of them to participate in a swim race from Leguan wharf/stelling back to Parika stelling. There were about 6 such groups. One of these groups asked me to take them to Leguan, and then "pilot" their swimmer back to Parika wharf. "Piloting" the swimmer means to point the boat in the direction that the swimmer needs to go in, and to "drive" very slowly on the windward side of the swimmer. At it slowest, the boat was still travelling faster than the swimmer, so lots of reverse and forward. The waves were about 6 feet high with lots of white-crests. Many of those young people, especially the girls, got seriously seasick. Boat was much smaller that that shown in this vid with much higher waves (my boat was 25 feet long, keeled, 6 feet wide and 4 ft deep, with 35-HP Seahorse Johnson). The 4-mile race took a little over one hour. And our swimmer came in 2nd but should have been 1st. The swim official in my boat asked me to find another swimmer who had no pilot boat and who was "lost". By the time I found him, pointed him in the right direction, and got back to "my" swimmer, he ("my swimmer" ) had lost his direction. So he lost some time. Came in 2nd. But there was no mishaps. All 6 swimmers, and spectators in accompanying boats, arrived safely at Parika stelling !! Maybe, Captain BlakB'y should take your friends out in much more extreme conditions? Now, THAT would be fun !!
Thanks ARD. Great ride to the Atlantic
