- I'm having a lot of fun creating these commercials. Runway Gen-2 is legit! I can't wait to see what they have in store for us next. I'm currently in the beta testing program, its closed to the public.
We get a chance to test the new technology and create cool videos. I've been editing for years so this ai program just makes my workflow much faster. For filmmakers new and old, the technology is here to bring your vision to life.
This commercial is about a pirate at sea enjoying his chicken nuggets.

What's creepy about these AI generated food videos is that the food always seems to be alive and moving.

I like how the narrator calls the story an "adventure" but it's about a crew that doesn't care that they're about to die because they're so addicted to Goner Nuggets.
It's a tale about addicts that will face death itself in order to get more of the substance they so desperately crave...so kind of an adventure, just a *really* fricked up one.
It's not a true adventure unless at least one person in your party dies.
Truly a modern parable.

These honestly feel like the kind of ads we used to get in the 90s and early 2000s. There was nothing too out there or nonsensical for corpos trying to appeal to young people back then.

I still remember the ad for Levi's jeans, it was just some guy walking down a street, nothing really happening and at the end it just flashed the Levi's logo. They never actually showed the jeans in closeup or said a word about them.
I like how half the crew ended up becoming Goner Nuggets themselves.

You know what would be cool?
1. An expanded line of Goner brand chicken products, such as Goner Tenders, Goner Bites popcorn chicken, and Goner 'Wiches (chicken sandwiches), Goner Fridgies (refrigerated chicken bites, similar to Fridge Raiders), etc.
2. Goner Nuggets having a mascot in the form of Cap'n Goner, a skeleton pirate captain.
3. A pirate-themed Family Entertainment Center based around Goner fried chicken items called Cap'n Goner's Buccaneer Bay.

It managed to not be creepy for at least the first half. But it’s almost like the AI couldn’t help itself.

Advertisements in general, I don't like them, we are teetering more and more towards a Cyberpunk 2077 world where even in the wilderness you can see giant monolithic billboards in the distance trying to sell you some kind of product. There is no escape.
When AI generated skeletons are less scary, than AI generated humans

My favorite are still the human-generated skeletons. Proud to say I've kept mine in only gently-used condition. It's gonna do well at auction.

It's the phenomena know as uncanny vally. The more realistic an artificial characters appears the more critical we are with it's acceptance. This feeling peaks with an almost perfect human like character. That's the reason we find humanoid robots creepy.
Maybe that's how they feel

Goner nugget lore: The nuggets are cursed. Every nugget you eat brings you closer to being a nugget yourself, until the cycle repeats itself. Clearly the AI is trying to warn us with the line "once you've had a taste there's no turning back"
Additionally, they have the side effect of depriving its consumer of situational awareness.
"As the ship descended into the depths, the crew remained unfazed."
This involves that the crew was so into the nuggets that they weren't able to save themselves.
Goner Nuggets force you to submit to them and morph into one of them, but only if you're "lucky" enough to survive while you do so.
Aside from the usual "becoming what they eat" stuff, the framework of this could actually work as a legit food commercial.
Yeah, that part was random and fucking creepy, but overall this seems like a pretty out-there but believable commercial concept

The dude at 0:23 with splinter arms and a nugget bowl for a head that seemingly had a chicken “tongue” moving was creepy asf.
This looks like a commercial that would’ve appeared on Cartoon Network back in the 2000s

Maybe even flavored variants of the nuggets (i.e. spicy), as well as additional chicken products, like Goner Tenders, Goner Bites popcorn chicken, Goner Fridgies (refrigerated chicken bites, similar in concept to Fridge Raiders), Goner 'Wiches (chicken sandwiches), etc.

i love the look of this Runway AI. its so uncannily fake and clearly not real life, yet just realistic and fluid enough to feel like youre watching something completely real and not animated. my brain has yet to detatch these eldritch food-human abominations from reality, they just look so surreally real. 0:19 is my favorite example, its so uncomfortable how the skeletons bounce around so life like

Mine was the one at 0:13. The way the skeleton moves and bounces about; almost like a human dressed in a skeleton costume and not an animatronic puppet like you would of seen during the 90s time period. It moves so fluid and realistic, and it helps alot that the background for it ISN'T filled with the 70s-90s hazy blury film grain technique that was used for everything. It clean and crisp, it almost looks like someone just happened to be dressed in the skeleton costume and made this quick recording. Very impressive stuff.
It feels like my ideations of a dream machine come to life. The only thing that hasn’t happened yet is that we haven’t figured out how to encode dream waves into code that an AI generator can parse into video.
I'm quite frankly obsessed with this video and think about it once an hour these days

Okay, I know this will be relevant to like... NOBODY, but the insane rush of early 2000s UK nostalgia I got hit with from this actually gave me shivers.

The uncanniness of these AI generated videos is that they are like... 87% recognizable as something you'd see. But there is that shift that happens when something isn't "perfect". The bit of randomness and unpredictability pushes some wonderful buttons for those of us who are looking to have our button fingered.

This is genuinely terrifying. The way the nuggets writhe, the way the skeletons are just put together wrong, the "once you've had a taste there's no turning back". I absolutely hate it, and it makes me want chicken nuggets less.

The absolute icing on the cake is how monotone the narrator sounds, it unironically sells the contrast of the danger and adventure of the clip itself lmaooo
Call them "Golden Nuggets" instead and make jokes about how the pirates found perfectly fried chicken instead of doubloons and you have an excellent concept for a commercial
