Okay, but can we talk about Darren and Trisha’s fight scene? Like, oh my god, the layers to this. First of all, Darren comes in with his whole 'I’m right because I read one self-help book' energy, and Trisha just destroys him with that line about how he’s all talk and no action. Honestly, she didn’t have to come for his throat like that, but was she wrong? NO.
but then, and here’s where it gets real, when he said, 'At least I’m trying-what are you even doing, Trisha?' and the camera cuts to her face? OOF. You could feel her holding back tears, but she wasn’t going to let him see her cry. That right there is character development because early season Trisha would’ve screamed back, but now she’s like, 'I’m not wasting my energy on this guy.'
and don’t even get me started on how they shot the scene. The lighting? Perfectly dim with just enough shadow to make them look like they’re in two separate worlds and that little shaky camera effect when Trisha starts walking out of the room?? Chef’s kiss. It’s like the director was telling us that their relationship is falling apart right before our eyes.
I mean, sure, Darren made some valid points, but let’s not forget that he’s the one who ghosted her in Episode 4 and only came crawling back when he needed her help. Like, bruh, accountability much? Anyway, Trisha deserves better, and I said what I said. Also, if they don’t play that song from the trailer during their inevitable makeup scene, I’m rioting.

11:16 you can use honey blocks to slow the items down, just make one of the edges of the stream honey and line the items up with a couple of sea pickles
this would slow the travel speed of the items down, but you don't need to do that - it just needlessly increases item entity lifetime. batching the items can be achieved with a stonecutter as described in other comments which makes the items travel in stacks of like 4-6ish items with >8gt separation so the hopper cooldown has time to reset between each batch which solves the skipping issue!!
you're right about using sea pickles, chests or honey blocks to align the hitbox half over the hoppers though - the other block it's half over can be packed ice to increase the speed the items move at through the system and further reduce lifetime.
speed is 100% not the issue here... you could also use ice and it would work if built correctly.

11:00 Greetings Mr. Beans. Regarding your storage system problem, it has nothing to do with the water current speed. It happens because the items are too close together and hoppers have a small cooldown on catching items. An easy fix would just be to slow down the clock that drops the items into the water currents, so hoppers have more time to catch them. Hope that helped
I thought the items were draining into the system at hopper speed? Wouldn't that limit the dropper to that speed as well (not saying to disagree, just wanting to learn)
@@hydrophobic5851 wait this is a good point actually, maybe the issue is with alignment over the hoppers or something rather than the lack of proper item batching? the water stream style might not be reliable compared to the usual half over hoppers half over ice stream method....
Maybe if the gap is exactly 8gt the hopper can still be on cooldown when next item arrives? Have never encountered this bc there's no reason not to batch ngl

11:17 The reason some items are skipping past the hoppers is because hoppers can only pick up one group of items at a time. You can fix this by adding a stonecutter at the beginning at where the items are sorted with ice beneath to group a lot of the items together. If that doesn’t make sense I guess you could ask one of your redstoney hermits for help too.

this is the solution!! hopper cooldown is 8 game ticks, so there needs to be at least 8gt separation between batches. stonecutter batching is the easiest solution

It was so nice of Joel to show us what the citizens of his city have been up to since he was away in today's episode. ☺
The sorting isn’t working because hoppers have a cool down between picking stuff up. The easiest way to fix it will be to slow to clock emptying the shulkers. Otherwise, you need a stack separator in the water stream to group like items more.
It can be helpful to have your items drop and fall thru a cobweb or on to a trap door that opens and closes before they hit the water stream. It allows the individually dispensed items time to bunch together in stacks so the hoppers can pick them up all at once without hitting the hopper cool down.
Joel, thanks for all the work you put into these videos. That flythrough at the end really shows how much effort you put in. Hope you had a well-deserved christmas break, and can't wait to see what you do in the new year!

Storage tech fan here, add an ice block with a slab on top of it close to the dropper this will batch the items and probably help fix some of the issues your having with hopper pick up. Also the redstone isn't terrible considering how unique the space is! I think you did pretty good utilizing what you had!

You should probably add a delay in the water stream to let items group up, your hoppers are probably overloaded with smaller stacks and additional ones are skipping.

11:22 What you can do is before the hoppers in the water stream, have a water source with 2 blocks after it a bottom slab, then stick packed ice under the slab and the 2 water things before it. What this will do is batch up the items into groups before they go over the slab so that the hopper cooldown doesn't affect them. Hope this helps!
This is also a lot cheaper than using honey and alot quicker

For your storage items you can make the water circle back around to where it starts to give the hoppers times to catch the items.

easiest fix for the water stream is stonecutter batching imo - put a stonecutter in the water stream 2 blocks downstream from a source block and then another source block on the other side of it. the block under the stonecutter and on both sides of it should be ice. this will batch the items up to prevent the hoppers from missing them while on cooldown!! source: am storage techer
11:22 the problem you probbably have is that the items run directly on the hoppers, hoppers have an indent in their hit box where items get stuck you can use your fav block honey to aline them so they are on ice the one half and on the hoppers the other half

I'm glad you took time off! Hope you were cozy! The storage room looks so good. I do like the the view you get of the big hole there! Seeing the building on the inside is pretty nice, but can't wait to see what you do with it.

In my opinion it would be sooo cool if your base had a marketplace or just more low buildings to emphasize and create a little bit of contrast with higher builds.
Man proceeds to call Honey stupid then asks for help with the ONE thing honey is good for. Put packed/blue ice next to your filter hoppers then honey on top the filter hoppers. Run your items so they always run into the line of honey blocks. Since honey is slightly smaller than a full block items will just make contact with the hoppers and the honey slows them down.

the problem why some items are not picked up is that hoppers have a cooldown so u need to stack your things before sending them over the hoppers. for example by adding a slab in the water stream

You don't want to put the water stream directly on the hoppers because the items will get caught in all the indents. You want to have the water and/or ice next to them and align the items to the edge of the block next to the hoppers with slabs over the hoppers. (I'm bad at explaining it, but it's in most items sorting tutorials)

The hoppers arent picking up every single item due to hopper cooldown, try bunching up the items so they dont go into the hoppers 1 by 1, you can do that by placing a stonecutter in the middle of the water stream, item will hit the stonecutter, slowly rise up and bunch with any bllocks of the same type.
