I am watching this video because recently I successfully cut tempered glass with a 30mm diamond cutoff (with fine diamond) wheel attached to an electric drill, with water as a lubricant. Today I tried cutting a larger sheet of tempered glass with a more coarse 125mm diamond cuttoff wheel that I fitted onto a milwaukee 18v circular saw, for the accuracy. The glass exploded into a million pieces almost instantly. I wonder what I did wrong. Was it speed? The fineness or coarseness of the diamond particles within the saw? Was it the glass itself?
It is impossible to.cut tempered glass due to the prince rupert drop effect . You can work it ie take off a couple of mm each edge other than that nope . 24 yrs in the glass trade.
@timwade8529 so cutting a couple mm each pass is best. Have a 3"width, 8' long, 1/4" thick glass I used an expensive glass cutter. Made about 30 passes. I'm still not sure if I want to attempt.
Like @timwade8529 said. YOU CANNOT CUT TEMPERED GLASS!!!!! Even if you succeed in what ever process you choose, including polishing/grinding it down a few 32nd. The glass is forever compromised. I’ve done it, worked a whole day, worked half of the next, and watched it blow up, laying flat on carpet table on our lunch break. Only polished two sides one time, and removed 1/16 total a 1/32 side.

yes i have been cutting glass for 40 years he's only cutting normal glass with a grinder with a diamond blade when glazier screw up which is quite regularly we able to polish a couple of mm a side in line polisher machine we normally tape it first off but very slow speed works most the time

It was both the speed of the saw being much slower, and the coarse grit.
