- www.video125.co.uk This is a wonderful rural cross-country line taking us through semaphore signalled stations and over dozens of manual level crossings in Ireland. Three trains take us from Waterford in the south to Galway in the north west. Train 1 Waterford to Limerick Junction. Train 2 from Limerick Junction to Limerick City and train 3 takes us from Limerick City over the recently relaid Western Corridor to Galway.
The first leg is a genuine time-warp, reminiscent of a branch line in the 1960s...
I always love that music for the intro
Well maintained stations and trains. Above all nicely made videos. My salute to you
Lovely scenery back in 2010 and when the trains where nice and every old method was being used
Very nice production
Very enjoyable video, great scenery and well informed video!Thank You! Is that Ivan Yates as the presenter?
Not, its Henry Kelly!
Brilliant video! I've not got all the Irish Video 125s productions. Will there be any more Irish DEVs in the future?
These trains look visually very similar to the British Rail Class 158
They do indeed, I’ve neven been on a class 158 but judging from pictures they look like a higher quality train in terms of interior comfort than the trains in this video. I think Iarnrod Eireann should have just got some second hand 158s from Scotrail or Northern rail, and adjusted the bogies to Irish broad gauge.
There should no railway closures we need extra money extra railway lines not less they need to reopen the rest of the Western Rail Corridor onto Sligo & Donegal, Rosslare, Athlone-Mullingar and all other closed railway lines even 1's in Northern Ireland we need a train in the West that we should not having to travel to Dublin for a Northern Ireland Train or we need more trains to stop car accidents, road deaths & traffic jams all over the country. After the train strike there should fund extra money to Ireland's railway services we even should have trains on St Stephen's Day from now on only 1 day in the year with no trains just Christmas Day.
agreed.
@@nigelmurphy6761 We even need 24 hour trains in summer months. Navan to Drogheda, Waterford to Wexford via Rosslare and Limerick to Tralee via Adare and Foynes need to reopen too.
@@martinwalsh3228 charleville to limerick, sixmilebridge to shannon airport, navan to m3 parkway, further electrification in dublin
Ireland's new government should deliver better public transport to stop 1) Car Accidents/Road Deaths, 2) Traffic Jams & 3) Pollution of course no trains at all in counties Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan of course until more closed railway lines reopen we need the money them.
Irish Rail closed the Waterford/Rosslare line because ticket sales only covered 2% of the cost of running it so it was operating at a 98% loss. This wasn't surprising as there was only one train in each direction per day, and the schedule didn't coincide with the departure & arrival times of the ferries at Rosslare. I was taking a train from Cork to Waterford one evening and the guy checking my ticket didn't know there was a connection at Limerick Junction for Waterford and Rosslare so if someone working for Irish Rail didn't know about this connection then you can bet the whole population of Cork didn't either.
The other Garraun is called Rosshill and its automated now
What's the intro music?
Waterford station is in Co Waterford not Kilkenny!!
No it's true Waterford Rail Station is in Co. Kilkenny
@@adammaher6601 the border is on the hill behind the station not the river as is commonly believed. From Waterford west cabin to just past Abbey junction is in Waterford
The border between Waterford and Kilkenny used to be in the centre of the river before the local authorities agreed to move it north to have Sally Park, Plunkett Station, and Ferrybank in Waterford. If you zoom in on this area on Google Maps you will see the actual location of the border.
2:57. Bus Station looked nicer that way. I think anyway
Heeoooooonk heeeooooooonk
