Native company/engineers look like they’re innovating their lineup to specifically go up against the top kayaks in each style…specifically Hobie features. They took the thru hull wiring design and made them into larger plates, which are dual-purpose for wiring and panels/switches. They took the 3600 sized side well design like in the Hobie Outback and put in the entire lineup. Made the Titan X 12.5 shorter and wider then the popular Hobie PA 14 to compete on stability, capacity (still less usable the PA12/PA14) and space. Now the LTE is competing with Lynx with more load capacity and more durable hull. The slayer is competitive with Outback and is about $300 less expensive. They’re really getting after their competitors, bravo!
Ok, I THINK I'll get the Slayer Propel 10 LTE, looks like it's in many ways like the Old Town PDL, but with more modern features, it looks like it's better to customize and upgrade, this is perfect, now I am wondering whether or not I should get the 12 foot one, or the 10 foot LTE, can you weigh in on what you think the difference would be on length?
I see a lot of people in other videos mad about the price of the LTE. You gotta remember that the propel drive alone is 800 of that 2250 price tag. So for 1,450 you get natives reliability and quality. You get a lot (not all) of natives fancy features including the springblade rudder, so once you actually look at what goes into that price it’s extremely good value for an easy throw and go kayak.
BLUF: New Native Slayer Propel 10 LTE looks like it has a lot of potential. I’d choose it over the Old Town. Both will make their new owners happy and able to catch fish. I have a native ultimate FX 15 tandem kayak that is 90 lbs, albeit it’s longer than the LTE, I wouldn’t go so far as to call it “light”. That being said, personally, I would spend the extra $750 to purchase Hobie Lynx if I’m looking for a true “throw and go“. the Hobie Lynx is much lighter (65 lbs), more nimble, better shallow water drive, unless you “need” the extra load carrying capacity or worried about durability.
I went from my slayer max that I had for 2 years to my oldtown pdl 106 that I have now also had for about 2 years and i absolutely love it! Just change the rudder pin out for a rudder bolt so it stays tight and you’re good to go! The native I had to upgrade the rudder and then the rudder cables and then the rudder control knob and my drive had to be serviced 3 times in the two years granted I use it 3-5 times a week but my oldtown has yet to be serviced minus I had to change an impeller that I broke and I lost a shear pin one time when I was getting some fishing line out of the impeller
The native slayer LTE is a game changer. This kayak will be on my list when I move next year and have a place to properly store it. Thank you guys for the breakdown this was a fun one. Tight lines as always appreciate all the great content and hard work that goes into this channel.
I’ve been saving up for a pedal kayak the last two years. I just purchased the LTE a couple a weeks ago and am absolutely floored! Glad I waited. Can’t when to get it on the water after ice off!
Excellent! Good selection of brands; right next to the water; bicycle department as well... it will definitely be worth the drive from London to Bracebridge for me when it's time to pick out a new fishing kayak.
love my hobie lynx for car topping as i get older....45lbs, 15 extra with foot pedals(which you remove when you rooftop it) and you are on the water. not very glidey though. doesn't carry very much either but boy is it maneuverable. you can go 0-4mph in about a sec.
I had an Issue with the old town rudder and tracking even without the motor, it seemed i was constantly readjusting the steering knob. I Upgraded the rudder to a metal one from Navarre to help this... I ran into issues during the install and replaced the whole rudder line as a result, i intentionally left extra line in case to future issues and now use this extra line to lock the rudder down. This completely changed the way the kayak tracks, even with a Bixby attached i don't have any issues. I suggest anyone with an Old Town buy most of Navarre's upgrades as they seem to greatly improve that kayak and they aren't to expensive.
I would put the Vibe Makana 100 up there as one of the best value throw and goes on the market. You have both fin and pedal drive options. 55lb hull weight. 77lbs fully loaded (seat+drive+pod+hardware). Easy to car top on my 4Runner. Super stable for only 33” wide. I fish standing up in the river all the time out of this thing. 400lb weight capacity. Super rig-ability. It’s an amazing kayak for creeks up to mid sized rivers all in for $1,600! Hard to beat! You guys should try to get your hands on one!
Vibe has always been on the fringe for us. We have heard good and bad, and somehow nothing in between lol. If we could find a place to demo them, that would be great.
I'm adding it to my list of kayaks to look at, but being bigger I'm still wanting a wider beam. Now, if this was a pedal drive U10, I'd be even more interested.
Good review of two very well matched Kayaks. Been looking at both and trying to decide, currently have an Old Town paddle 106 and been very happy except for the range/speed. The native is more modern and lighter but I may just do a coin flip because they both a very capable.
I would love to get any PDL system vs a manual paddle. I used the manual for years and I do like it have to start somewhere but the way i have been fishing is to just roam around the ponds meandering to spots and dropping lines... which reminds me, I need to work on my drop shot on UL.
Depends on your transportation options and budget. The Native Titan X and Hobie Pro Angler are good high end options, while the Nucanoe unlimited might be our new favorite choice for tournaments.
I would have to see videos of it being used on water. I like being able to take the Old Town out when it is 40 degree water and keep my feet dry. I see videos of Greg on lakes with 6 inches of water on the deck for the Natives. I wanted to get Native originally but there are no dealers out here. Maybe they will send you guys a couple and you can sell them a month later too eh.. 🤣
@@aaanglers It's definitely a great looking option. I have an older PDL 120 that I use for weeknight jackpot and fun fishing. I currently have to truckbed it and it gets heavy at the end of a day. I am very interested in a lighter 10ft kayak that could also handle the tournament scene.
85lbs for a pdl throw and go is awesome but then adding captains bridge and motor mounting seems like your going away from throw and go rig. The lower weight capacity means the lte is definitely coming equipped with natives signature livewell too 😂
The only way it'll be better than old town is if natives customer service gets better. I've had numerous buddies own natives and if your not an influencer they'll do everything not to replace a hull just like wilderness systems. Had a crack form in my autopilot and old town had a new hull and my choice of color to me in a week
Wait.....did i miss somethimg? Nothing new as far as weight, the propel 10 was 65lbs. Acting like its the lightest ever is being disingenuous. Def not a game changer.
It was 75lbs and 97 rigged, this is over 10 lbs lighter rigged. It is lighter. Also, way more updated features over propel 10 max. Unless you mean an older model than that even.
@ check the Lynx, that’s a throw and go light weight yak. I looked up the specs, the LTE is 62lb without anything on it. That is a good weight relative to the rest of the market. Prop drive is a killer near any kind of vegetation is the only issue.
Yeah, keeping in mind that the lynx is a sup/skiff hybrid vs a kayak. I think both are great, and still want to test out the lynx. For a more kayak feel, we like the looks of this LTE. But we still meed to test it out
What do y’all think about this new pedal kayak?

I have a PDL 106. Love that thing! It’s been a fishing machine for me. I’m 5’11 and 255 and it’s super stable. Handles waves well too

The 85lbs is the fully outfitted weight with the drive and seat. Remove those two items for the 65lb car topping weight.
Insane
Predicting this to be our best selling boat of 2025. We will have the LTE in Canada in the next week and can't wait to play around with it. 1:32

Good to see your recovery is going well, Paul! 💪
💪🏼
As a dude who’s definitely buying a 10ft kayak to car top with in the next 6 months, I feel like this video was made for me personally
🤘🏼
🙌

Usually just tightening the tension knob would fix that. Totally agree on Navarre though!
I have one in NC. I almost have it tournament ready.😊

You too!
Thanks! You too!

All those points...Being, if I was looking for a peddle drive! I'd get the old town! Being I'm a bigger guy.
But getting a old town 136 auto pilot.
I can't wait to see them both on the water side by side
im still stuck using a ascend 10t....tempted to invest on a outlaw 11.5, catch power 100 or a Oldtown sportsman 106
Whatever gets you on the water 🤙
So glad i bought an LTE
I'm in Michigan. Wanting to fish kayak ternaments. What is the best kayak for that? I would like to be able to stand and fish mostly.
Depends on your transportation options and budget. The Native Titan X and Hobie Pro Angler are good high end options, while the Nucanoe unlimited might be our new favorite choice for tournaments.
@aaanglers what about the wilderness pro
Looks solid, but haven’t spent enough time on it yet.
I would have to see videos of it being used on water. I like being able to take the Old Town out when it is 40 degree water and keep my feet dry. I see videos of Greg on lakes with 6 inches of water on the deck for the Natives. I wanted to get Native originally but there are no dealers out here. Agreed on the soggy feet 😂. We will test it
Never have had soggy feet in my Titan x. Don’t let it discourage you.
Wouldn't the PDL 106 compare more to the Slayer Max 10 and not the LTE? Old Town doesn't really have anything to compare to the LTE.
It compares to both, it’s more in between with the options it has. Nothing really compares perfectly to the LTE.

Hey paul how is your arm doing
Great!

Totally agree. OT is 10/10 service
What kayak is built better will last longer and has better warranty?
To be determined. Many kayaks are built well, last a long time and have a decent warranty. Old town usually wins the warranty tho for sure
Is this much faster than the 106 PDL?
Not sure yet
We’d have to get in one, we will see!
Wait.....did i miss somethimg? Nothing new as far as weight, the propel 10 was 65lbs. Acting like its the lightest ever is being disingenuous.

Again...being new, who knows how it really is.
Exactly, just a first look
85lbs ain’t light lol, definitely not throw and go.
It definitely is for a pedal kayak compared to the market. Start training them arms!

@ no doubt, and the LTE is a lot more cost affective. Lynx is a great yak, I’ve had it for one season after having a PA12 for 5.
Unwatchable! The guy on the right just is trying too hard to be a funny
You’re face is unwatchable
Awesome reply! 👍🏼
