  • A combination of a buck and boost converter in a single package. There's a short review of buck and boost converters, how they can be combined into a single circuit that does both. We also test a LTC3440.

I just discovered your channel and the content is amazing. My knowledge is more theoretical and seeing actual circuits being constructed and tested has been amazing. Keep up the great work

Thank you for posting this video. I'm just getting started: your explaination is greatly fleshing out the bits and pieces I can grasp.

Hi, would you please explain, at least in concept, the use of the compensation circuit? That is something I have never understood. Thank you.

Hi from Korea. I followed circuit on the datasheet pg.17 "3-Cell to 5V Boost Converter with Output Disconnect" and it turns out that my IC gets extremely hot that I can't even touch it. What's the problem you think? Is it because of VCC and GND connected together (poor layout)? or any other possible problems from the boost converter? Thank you for the great lecture.

In my experience layout is key...

If i have fluctuating dv voltage between 12 volts and 15 volts, will a buck boost stabilize the voltage of i set it at 9 volts to drop to a consistent 9 volts? I am wanting to stabilize 9 volts to an engine coil nut as you know the alternator can fluctuate between 12 to 14 volts. Thanks

Sorry typo …dc voltage not dv

Hi cobraman428. For a buck converter, you should be okay as long as you stay above output voltage by a couple of volts.

GOOD LECTURE BUT, NOT SURE I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THIS COMPLEX CIRCUIT.KEEP ROLLING.
