Here is my annual list of best record for the year. It was actually a nightmare trying not to cut records. Like Paramore had a whole segment recorded that I was upset I had to cut but I had to keep it down to 23 (I try to keep it to the year haha), I really wanted to also represent a wide range of genres and albums that managed to really stay on rotation all year.
I don't want to spoil anything for those who read comments before watching the whole video (sometimes I do that). So I will just say, yes, your #1 choice is correct. Well done. 😊
lana really did that... i've been a fan for 10 years and she still surprises me. i saw several posts about how many grammy nominees (in main categories obviously) this year have worked with lana, have been influenced by her work or have shown her appreciation. this album is truly her best project, and she deserves aoty. this video made me realize i didn't even listen to 23 albums this year lol. definitely stopped looking out for new music for several reasons, but i (re?)discovered folklore and evermore and have been listening to them every day for like a couple months. so those three would make my top 3 i guess 😂😂
Lana is truly a queen and an industry role model like it’s crazy how much influence she’s had and maintained up to now! Also omg this year I made it a goal not to loop the same records over and over! I listened to a grand total of 89 different full records this year!
10. This Is Why by Paramore (Favorite track: Thick Skull) 9. Silence Between Songs by Madison Beer (Favorite track: Reckless) 8. Everything Harmony by The Lemon Twigs (Favorite track: Corner Of My Eye) 7. Javelin by Sufjan Stevens (Favorite track: Will Anybody Ever Love Me?) 6. Good Riddance by Gracie Abrams (Favorite track: Best) 5. The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We by Mitski (Favorite track: My Love Mine All Mine) 4. GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo (Favorite track: ballad of a homeschooled girl) 3. Bewitched by Laufey (Favorite track: From The Start) 2. the record by boygenius (Favorite track: Letter To An Old Poet) 1. Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd by Lana Del Rey (Favorite track: A&W)
My top 5: 1. Ocean Blvd 2. Desire I want to turn into you by Caroline Polachek 3. SAVED! by Kristin Hayter (MASTERPIECE that portrays the journey of healing from abuse and other traumatic stuff that she underwent in her relationships, it showcases the ugly it can be to try to heal and the relief of finding a footing in this journey within religion) 4. Guts by Olivia 5. In Pieces by Chlöe (an excelent debut LP for such underrated queen of mine that this strong and talented woman is)
Thank you so much! I’m ready for next year! So much to look forward to, hopefully some comeback records, dissecting Taylor’s versions, and talking about 2014 stuff that’s now 10 years old 😭😭
I’m so glad I got most of these albums on my playlist for the best of 2023. This year really outdid 2022 and 2021 Top 5 albums for me this year easily go to: 5 Snow Angel by Reneè Rapp Easily one of the best debut albums I’ve ever heard up with the likes of The Fame, Preacher’s Daughter, Crybaby. Vocally stunning and the deluxe doesn’t shy away from both Reneè’s powerful vocal delivery but also her lyrical content. Favorites from the album include the title track, Messy, I hate boston, Gemini Angel, and 23 4 Last Winter by Heize In my book, Heize is one of the most stunning K-Pop soloists out there. Returning with this year end record really felt refreshing after a sorta mid single in Vingle Vingle. Last Winter gives me the perfect mix of winter blues and korean rnb that Heize has perfected over the years. Favorites from that album include Perhaps, Happy Ending, Midnight, and FM 89.1 3 Bewitched by Laufey The best sophmore album to come out this year in my opinion, genuinely could not pick between this Think Later, GUTS, and The Good Witch. Laufey’s songwriting and vocal styling really are showcased in the best possible light here. With a more 30s-40s jazz influence this time around she really sets herself apart from the crowd in the industry and I really look forward to her future releases. Favorites from this project include Dreamer, While You Were Sleeping, Lovesick, and Promise. 2 To love in the 21st century: The epilogue by Lyn Lapid THE MOST UNDERRATED RELEASE EVER TO DATE. This album, mixtape, however you want to define it has some of the best vocal performances from the young artists Lyn Lapid. Her lyrics in particular shine moreso on this album than her debut EP and will genuinely have you smiling by the end. Favorites from this album include: eastside, tlit21c, the alternative, cross your mind, and ok with it. 1 Portals (Deluxe) by Melanie Martinez What can I say about this album that hasn’t already been said? As the ending to the Crybaby trilogy, and as someone who’s been with Melanie on this journey since 2015, Portals is the what I call the perfect ending to this trilogy. Her experimental sound may be jarring to some but was set up long before in After School. She not only delivers in some of the best lyrcal metaphors and production choices but also manages to make the album flow SEEMLESSLY between every track. Truly a timeless album that leaves the door open towards what Melanie will do next. The fact that this album does a perfect loop between the starting and finishing track is also just stunning. What comes after Crybaby? Who knows! Favorites from this album include The Contortionist, Tunnel Vision, Pluto, Light Shower, Leeches, and Womb
@@EljohnMacaranas For real, I am honestly both scared and excited to see what 2024 will bring. The girls really did the damn thing this year. Looking forward to 2024 either way! 🥳

I think she has time to really hone her skills, having charisma is so hard I know so many talented and brilliant artists who sadly have the personality of a noodle
Somewhat expected Melanie Martinez's Portals but i overall agree with this list... also surprised by the quality of the video for a relatively small channel :D
Your top 3 are perfect I completely agree. I’d say my other favorites of this year in no particular order are something to give each other, THINK LATER, and this is why
1. Tension/Extension, Kylie absolutely killed it, and this is my favorite Kylie album ever 2 DYKTTATUOB, One of Lana's best for songwriting and vulnerability. So many memorable songs I love so much 3 Endless Summer Vacation, Plastic Hearts didn't get its flowers so I am SO happy this did. River deserved to be #1 and it is full of so many bops. 4. The Loveliest Time, Carly DELIVERED my second favorite album of hers. Absolute perfection 5. Scarlet, Full of bops and showed off Doja's abilities. Agora Hills forever Honorable mentions are Think Later (this grew on me) and Speak Now Taylor's version was my most listened to album of the year but I didn't really count it here since it isn't technically new
Aaaaah! Loved your Top 5! Miley was really close to making the list but I still resent ESV for having the success Plastic Hearts deserved. Also, I’m glad to see Scarlet get love! I think it’s aging so well! Think Later was an edge candidate for me would be in if I did 30! It’s very solid!
my favorites: my 21st century blues - raye diamonds & dancefloors - ava max ftb / problematique - kim petras in pieces - chloe tension - kylie minogue scarlet - doja cat

Thank you! I'm not playing when it comes to the album lists. Like I know I missed a few and I wanted so bad to include a few 2022 ones I got to love more (SOS and even Sab's emails record) but I wanted to be strict and had too many to cover
my top 5 1. OCEAN BLVD ( LITERAL MASTERPIECE LIKE THERE ISNT MUCH TO SAY. THE DIVERSITY OF GENRES IS JUST INSANE BUT THATS NOT EVEN SAYING MUCH ) 2. for all the dogs / call me if you get lost ( for someone that doesnt listen to rap AT ALL these albums just did something to me. the arrangement and productions of the songs on both these albums is undeniably some of the best this year ) 3. heaven knows ( such a cute little album with bops. mosquito nice to meet you aisle true romance are standouts ) 4. renaissance ( DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN ) 5. scarlet ( hits and misses here or there but solid album. love agora hills, paint the town red, ATTENTION LOVE ATTENTION, and demons) honourable mention like? ( 2023 was definitely ice spice's year. her songs are just BOPS. if you get it you get it. not every song has to be deep. loved deli especially though her beats are just on another level.
This video introduced me to Chappell Roan, and looking back at how massive she has grown since I can’t help but feel smug that I knew her before she had mainstream success because of your recommendation lmao
I did, had reviews for all 3 posted up. Ava and Ellie were a bit too early in the year for me while Tate was a little too new to include. Still great pop!

@@EljohnMacaranas both EPs were so amazing imo, personally i liked Autumn Leaves a bit more but Bittersweet Sixteen felt like a solid EP as well, to me they felt like perfect contrasts
here’s my top 5 (our music tastes are very different i’m not a big pop fan and i mainly watch your videos on lorde and taylor). i also didn’t include 1989/speak now vaults though i love their vaults simply because they are two separate EPs, and their re-recordings are really bad imo 5: The Record by Boygenius Sonically really fit in with my summer, some girls were in their barbie hyper pop era i was in my writer Past Lives beachfront beauty era. As always with these three incredibly well written and sung. 4: Snow Angel by Renee Rapp Renee Rapp is the only recent breakout popstar i can get behind, that girl has the pipes, the sexuality and classiness, and songwriting to deserve a seat amongst the greats. Poison Poison is the only weak link in this album and i wish Swim was in the original instead of on the deluxe, but goddamn does this album hit emotionally and have some great bangers. 3. In The End It Always Does by The Japanese House The songwriting and production is just simply beautiful, it’s ethereal and really transports you, incredible storytelling and vocals it’s an absolute spellbinder. this album easily would have been my number 1 if the other two albums released next year. 2: Blanket by Kevin Abstract Despite having the worst leading single of all time (maybe don’t drop a fucking interlude as the big album anouncimg single), Blanket is incredible. it’s like it folklore was horror that takes heavily from queer experiences and internet culture. i love the combination of hiphop, synth alex g style internet rock, and alt songwriter sound, the storytelling is vague yet incredible, and god this album is so gay and perfectly incapsualtes said gayness in a way that feels so much more relatable than most queer media. i wish to god kevin was on a bigger tour. 1: I Miss You Already & I Haven’t Left Yet by Del Water Gap Easily a tie for my favorite album of the decade along with renaissance, solar power, and midnights. this thing FUCKS. the production is amazing and the songwriting and vocal presentation of lyrics is devastating, not a single skip on the album. somebody needs to study why del water gap and maggie rogers are so slept on. i haven’t gotten coping on unemployment out of my head some honorable mentions: Aurora from daisy jones and the six, the spiderverse soundtrack, guts, honey by samia, flounder by quinnie, and crying, laughing, smiling, waving by slaughter beach dog is easily in my 6th place.
Past Lives beachfront era… agh I need that for my own summer this coming year! I read through your list and I def need to add these to my listening rotation!

WOW such good list and your editing skills are showinggg. you’re so underrated bestie hope this gets many views cause the hard work and talent are definitely there. Btw your top 3 is the same as mine. Also I rly appreciated u putting scarlet in the top 10 cause I don’t really get the hate (maybe ppl hate her for the twitter drama or the demonic shit idk), I like that album a lot, its aging like fine wine (Attention, often and cant wait are sooo good… I’m seeing her in Milan in June i cant wait). Btw If Sza released SOS in 2023 that would’ve been number one on my list for sure cause that album MADE my 2023. Congratulations again such a great recap of the year!!
Aaaah thank you so much for noticing haha! I do these for fun (and because I have so much energy) but yeahhhh the Scarlet hate is so overblown… like so many different artists have committed weirder things and never get held accountable. The music is genuinely great. It’s penalized for personality.
8. Speak Now + 1989 (Taylor’s Version) 7. Something To Give Each Other - Troye Sivan 6. The Land Is Inhospitable & So Are We - Mistki 5. Bewitched - Laufey 4. Laugh Track - The National 3. GUTS - Olivia Rodrigo 2. the record - Boygenius 1. Ocean Blvd - Lana Del Rey
I love your list videos, I noticed I tend to gravitate more towards the bottom part of your top picks. Overall this year was great for albums. A lot of my favorites released projects that didn't disappoint, and there were a lot of surprises by new artists or artists I wasn't familiar before. My top 10, the albums that i enjoyed most listening though out the year, goes like this (the top 4 could easily be a 4-way tie for first place, the order really changes by the day) 1. Paramore - This is why 2. Chappell Roan - The rise and fall of a Midwest Princess 3. Slayyyter - Starfucker 4. RAYE - My 21st century blues 5. Janelle Monáe - The age of pleasure 6. Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS 7. Carly Rae Jepsen - The loveliest time 8. Jessie Ware - That! feels good 9. Bad Bunny - Nadie Sabe 10. Romy - Mid air A lot of honorable mentions, Lana of course, Kylie Minogue, 100 gecs, Amaarae, Hannah Diamond, yeule, Kali Uchis, Dorian Electra, TINI, all great releases. Here's hoping for 2024 to be even better 🎉
my personal top 5, not in a specific order: ocean blvd think later (late in the year but still deserves a spot) endless summer vacation something to give each other scarlet
here’s my top 5 1. i miss you already & i haven’t left yet - Del Water Gap (genuinely the best album of the decade, so beautifully written, wonderfully produced, and the vocals are chilling the way we sleep on del water gap and maggie rogers needs to be studied) 2. blanket - kevin abstract (it’s like an alt-rock and hip hop horror style folklore that’s extremely gay why is nobody talking about this masterpeice) 3. in the end it always does - the japanese house 4. snow angel - renee rapp 5. the record - boygenius
Fountain Baby is probably one of my favorite dance records of the year, I discovered her at Pride and even got to see her do a set! She's an angel! And Janelle... we need to stop sleeping on her. She's a goddess.

Gag Order was one of the hardest chops for me to make like genuinely one of my favorite records, I just wish it’d been pushed more but now she’s free! So glad! Oh I wish I had included soundtracks (beyond Barbie) this year had excellent scores!
My top 5 would go like: 5th Think Later by Tate McRae - I've been in love with Tate McRae's music lately and this album didn't disappoint (favorite tracks: cut my hair, exes) 4th Weedkiller by Ashnikko - I'm not a big fan of what Ashnikko did before, but she did a really good job with this album (favorite tracks: moonlight magic, worms) 3rd The Cure For Breathing by Voilà - my favorite band, their whole discography is perfect, just like this album (favorite tracks: table for one, crybaby) 2nd Portals by Melanie Martinez - while Melanie is my favorite artist, this is also my favorite album of hers and a great way for Crybaby's story to end (favorite tracks: the contortionist, womb) 1st GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo - hands down one of the best album of the year (favorite tracks: making the bed, the grudge, logical)
I’ve been obsessed with it since it came out. Probably my #1 tbh. Do you actually dislike the album or do you dislike Doja and harshly judged it before giving it a chance?
I think there is valid room for criticism but a lot of hate I see is more towards Doja than her actual artistry which is always a risk and a given but just disappointing when we give other artists passes for being messier
@@jaykay1899 Scarlet is ok but n° 10?? The section between 'Demons' to 'Shutcho' could have been removed because they are the same basic trap bases we've all heard since 2018. Honestly the only part I enjoyed is the second half of the album, she didn't do anything trascendental imo
@@invasionpikachu8536I respectfully disagree. Gun and Go Off were def the weakest songs of the album but I think they were necessary for fans to not feel too alienated
disagree with everything on here. but this definitely was a great year for women in pop music!... i would like to know your thoughts on feed the beast by kim petras.

@@EljohnMacaranas I was on her tour this time around with a full on sold out show. With tours being the "META" way of making money in music, I am glad she is succeeding in a different lane. I think her album Gag order is worthy on a year end spot for the quality of music
I’m pretty sure ud like PORTALS by Melanie Martinez it’s extremely catchy and angelic. She transformed into a mythical and godly creature for the album and has appeared in the top 200 several times this year. Her single void was nominated for VMAs too! ❤ My year was boosted with this soul crushing album it has soft songs and and baddie pop rock as well! She’s known for her hits like Play date, pacify her and pity party from the her debut album crybaby! And her album k12 which took us on journey from kindergarten to 12th grade through a full length musical movie masterpiece.
This year really outdid 2022 and 2021
Top 5 albums for me this year easily go to:
5 Snow Angel by Reneè Rapp
Easily one of the best debut albums I’ve ever heard up with the likes of The Fame, Preacher’s Daughter, Crybaby. Vocally stunning and the deluxe doesn’t shy away from both Reneè’s powerful vocal delivery but also her lyrical content. Favorites from the album include the title track, Messy, I hate boston, Gemini Angel, and 23
4 Last Winter by Heize
In my book, Heize is one of the most stunning K-Pop soloists out there. Returning with this year end record really felt refreshing after a sorta mid single in Vingle Vingle. Last Winter gives me the perfect mix of winter blues and korean rnb that Heize has perfected over the years. Favorites from that album include Perhaps, Happy Ending, Midnight, and FM 89.1
3 Bewitched by Laufey
The best sophmore album to come out this year in my opinion, genuinely could not pick between this Think Later, GUTS, and The Good Witch.
2 To love in the 21st century: The epilogue by Lyn Lapid
THE MOST UNDERRATED RELEASE EVER TO DATE.
1 Portals (Deluxe) by Melanie Martinez
What can I say about this album that hasn’t already been said?
Literally 2022 and 2021 got washed, only 2020 stands a remote chance against 2023!
@@EljohnMacaranas For real, I am honestly both scared and excited to see what 2024 will bring. The girls really did the damn thing this year. Looking forward to 2024 either way! 🥳

RAYE 🖤
Imma be so honest, to me icespice is so boring like the only thing i like about her is her personality, which shouldnt be the highlight of a musician
I think she has time to really hone her skills, having charisma is so hard I know so many talented and brilliant artists who sadly have the personality of a noodle
Somewhat expected Melanie Martinez's Portals but i overall agree with this list... also surprised by the quality of the video for a relatively small channel :D
Thank you! I try! 🥹
Your top 3 are perfect I completely agree. I’d say my other favorites of this year in no particular order are something to give each other, THINK LATER, and this is why
Awww thanks! Our minds! Think Later’s gonna age pretty well, it’s sadly just too new for me to put on here
mine would be
1. Silence between songs (Madison Beer)
2.Guts (Olivia Rodrigo)
3. Jaguar II (Victoria Monet)
4.Scarlet (Doja Cat)
5.PF2 (Nicki Minaj)
Taste!
1. Tension/Extension, Kylie absolutely killed it, and this is my favorite Kylie album ever
2 DYKTTATUOB, One of Lana's best for songwriting and vulnerability. So many memorable songs I love so much
3 Endless Summer Vacation, Plastic Hearts didn't get its flowers so I am SO happy this did. River deserved to be #1 and it is full of so many bops.
4. The Loveliest Time, Carly DELIVERED my second favorite album of hers. Absolute perfection
5. Scarlet, Full of bops and showed off Doja's abilities. Agora Hills forever
Honorable mentions are Think Later (this grew on me) and Speak Now Taylor's version was my most listened to album of the year but I didn't really count it here since it isn't technically new
Aaaaah! Loved your Top 5! Miley was really close to making the list but I still resent ESV for having the success Plastic Hearts deserved. Also, I’m glad to see Scarlet get love! I think it’s aging so well!
Think Later was an edge candidate for me would be in if I did 30! It’s very solid!
my favorites:
my 21st century blues - raye
diamonds & dancefloors - ava max
ftb / problematique - kim petras
in pieces - chloe
tension - kylie minogue
scarlet - doja cat
We love to see Chloe get some love 🫡
my fav is def my world by aespa, thirsty alone makes it a masterpiece but literally every single song is perfect 🤩
I need to listen omfg
My Too 5 :
Red Moon In Venus - Kali Uchis
In Pieces - Chloe
Pink Friday 2 - Nicki
Jaguar 2 - Victoria Monet
Scarlet - Doja Cat
Omg Chloe 🥰 she’s so underrated! I’m mad her team didn’t push Body Do or any other tracks!

@@EljohnMacaranas THANK YOU
this list made me puke My 21st Century Blues fkn clears this whole list and no troye yikessss
23 albums???? I only know like 3 from this year 😭😭😭
lmao making the 2024 list is gonna be hell for me lmao
Amaarae's Fountain Baby is my favourite album of the year.
Something about afrobeats with pop just feels so good.
She's an absolute chameleon and just so talented and like afrobeats is the future. Tyla and Rema's success recently has me thinking it's there.
@@EljohnMacaranas i just realised I love FKA Twigs' Caprisongs and Doja's Planet her for the same reason
The taste in this list
Thank you! I'm not playing when it comes to the album lists. Like I know I missed a few and I wanted so bad to include a few 2022 ones I got to love more (SOS and even Sab's emails record) but I wanted to be strict and had too many to cover
@@EljohnMacaranashonestly, I would be interested in seeing the full list if this is your top 23
my top 5
1. OCEAN BLVD ( LITERAL MASTERPIECE LIKE THERE ISNT MUCH TO SAY. THE DIVERSITY OF GENRES IS JUST INSANE BUT THATS NOT EVEN SAYING MUCH )
2. for all the dogs / call me if you get lost ( for someone that doesnt listen to rap AT ALL these albums just did something to me. the arrangement and productions of the songs on both these albums is undeniably some of the best this year )
3. heaven knows ( such a cute little album with bops. mosquito nice to meet you aisle true romance are standouts )
4. renaissance ( DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN )
5. scarlet ( hits and misses here or there but solid album. love agora hills, paint the town red, ATTENTION LOVE ATTENTION, and demons)
honourable mention
like? ( 2023 was definitely ice spice's year. her songs are just BOPS. if you get it you get it. not every song has to be deep. loved deli especially though her beats are just on another level.
You’re so real for what you said about Ice and Like..? i swear people forget to have absolute fun sometimes
This video introduced me to Chappell Roan, and looking back at how massive she has grown since I can’t help but feel smug that I knew her before she had mainstream success because of your recommendation lmao
Hahaha thanks! I had quite a few friends obsessed with Chappell back last year who feel very vindicated rn.
My favorite record was Ellie Goulding's new album. Cheers!
Oh Higher Than Heaven was a delight! It came out so early in the year but was just solid pop! Wishing you a happy new years 🥳
Just wondering, did you listen to Diamonds and Dancefloors by Ava Max, Think Later by Tate McRae, and Higher Than Heaven by Ellie Goulding??
I did, had reviews for all 3 posted up. Ava and Ellie were a bit too early in the year for me while Tate was a little too new to include. Still great pop!
i screamed when i saw kali uchis! omg!!! finally some love for her!
Kali is really ate that one up. It came out a bit earlier in the year so recency bias sadly.

@@EljohnMacaranas both EPs were so amazing imo, personally i liked Autumn Leaves a bit more but Bittersweet Sixteen felt like a solid EP as well, to me they felt like perfect contrasts
here’s my top 5 (our music tastes are very different i’m not a big pop fan and i mainly watch your videos on lorde and taylor). i also didn’t include 1989/speak now vaults though i love their vaults simply because they are two separate EPs, and their re-recordings are really bad imo
5: The Record by Boygenius
Sonically really fit in with my summer, some girls were in their barbie hyper pop era i was in my writer Past Lives beachfront beauty era. As always with these three incredibly well written and sung.
4: Snow Angel by Renee Rapp
Renee Rapp is the only recent breakout popstar i can get behind, that girl has the pipes, the sexuality and classiness, and songwriting to deserve a seat amongst the greats. Poison Poison is the only weak link in this album and i wish Swim was in the original instead of on the deluxe, but goddamn does this album hit emotionally and have some great bangers.
3. In The End It Always Does by The Japanese House
The songwriting and production is just simply beautiful, it’s ethereal and really transports you, incredible storytelling and vocals it’s an absolute spellbinder. this album easily would have been my number 1 if the other two albums released next year.
2: Blanket by Kevin Abstract
Despite having the worst leading single of all time (maybe don’t drop a fucking interlude as the big album anouncimg single), Blanket is incredible. it’s like it folklore was horror that takes heavily from queer experiences and internet culture. i love the combination of hiphop, synth alex g style internet rock, and alt songwriter sound, the storytelling is vague yet incredible, and god this album is so gay and perfectly incapsualtes said gayness in a way that feels so much more relatable than most queer media. i wish to god kevin was on a bigger tour.
1: I Miss You Already & I Haven’t Left Yet by Del Water Gap
Easily a tie for my favorite album of the decade along with renaissance, solar power, and midnights. this thing FUCKS. the production is amazing and the songwriting and vocal presentation of lyrics is devastating, not a single skip on the album. somebody needs to study why del water gap and maggie rogers are so slept on. i haven’t gotten coping on unemployment out of my head
some honorable mentions: Aurora from daisy jones and the six, the spiderverse soundtrack, guts, honey by samia, flounder by quinnie, and crying, laughing, smiling, waving by slaughter beach dog is easily in my 6th place.
Past Lives beachfront era… agh I need that for my own summer this coming year! I read through your list and I def need to add these to my listening rotation!
wait that's how you pronounce kelela?! WHAT?!

It’s a solid collection of songs, was surprised so many publications were mixed… in the context of the movie, the songs slap!
Good video. Disagree with Lana Del Ray as I'm not a fan of hers. Bewitched is better to me but good list nonetheless.

It’s penalized for personality.
i dont know if you are fan of Melanie Martinez but her album PORTALS is so good and is one of my favorite of 2023
I’ve listened to it and while I’m not a fan of Melanie, I will say that it was her best record so far
Did not expect newjeans to be in this list it's very well deserved
newjeans is filling some gaps i felt this year, the talent and energy they have! i’m glad to see girl groups kill it!
Love Guts. The only album i can play from start to finish.
Where is PORTALS by Melanie Martinez?
Victoria Monet & Carly Rae Jepsen really deserve their flowers! I enjoyed watching as always❤️❤️❤️

2023 was a good year for music. I don't understand people when they say music nowadays is bad.
They don't explore! They just take what's given to them by the algorithm.
I love your list videos, I noticed I tend to gravitate more towards the bottom part of your top picks. Overall this year was great for albums. A lot of my favorites released projects that didn't disappoint, and there were a lot of surprises by new artists or artists I wasn't familiar before. My top 10, the albums that i enjoyed most listening though out the year, goes like this (the top 4 could easily be a 4-way tie for first place, the order really changes by the day)

2. blanket - kevin abstract (it’s like an alt-rock and hip hop horror style folklore that’s extremely gay why is nobody talking about this masterpeice)

Nahhh I loved it, seeing it on tour made it work for me!
I have a review on it... and like... meh...
1. 10000 Gecs by 100 gecs

Yessss Gecs!!!
I’m so checking out Yachty’s album, I had been out of town when it dropped and I usually just tune out the world so it slipped the cracks
@@EljohnMacaranas Oh, nice! It’s a great project, genuinely one of the best projects I’ve heard from an artist who’s tried swapping into a different genre.
I love when artists take a swing and knock it out of the park, staying in a lane too long will cause you to lose the plot

I got around to checking out some of the albums I didn’t listen to this year, like Caroline, grouptherapy. and Beloved!
Kesha got slept on....
Kemosabe and RCA like buried the record bc it was the last one on her contract, she’s free and probably will finally have a proper era and push next go-around
@@EljohnMacaranas I was on her tour this time around with a full on sold out show. With tours being the "META" way of making money in music, I am glad she is succeeding in a different lane. I think her album Gag order is worthy on a year end spot for the quality of music
what about portals by melanie martinez?
Top 50 but I only did 23
Idk about my 20 / or 10 but what I do know is that portals is def top 3 for me❤
This is like the 5th comment about Portals I’ve seen, y’all loved it!
Interesting spelling of Australia on the number 5 entrant 🤭
The American school system failed me yet again 😭
Where the fuck is Pink Friday?
Maybe top 100
Where the fuck is Pink Friday?
Lmao
Madison Beer-Silience between songs?
Solid record but would be in Top 40
My top 5
5) portals-malanie martinez
4) scarlet-doja cat
3) snow angel-reneè rapp
2) gag order-kesha
1) ocean blvd-lana del rey
Yessssssss taste!!!
(Available on RUclips) PORTALS is phenomenal album that helped me through many situations! ❤
I thought it was her best record to date, would have made the cut if I had done maybe 30
@@EljohnMacaranas oh ok 👍🏾 Ty for the reply ❤️
I think mitski is easily the most Amazing singer+songwriter of our time
Literally cannot argue with you on that, if her and Lana ever worked together… it’d just be done forever tbh
Not when lana exists
@@choerrychile5042 why do you have to compare talented singers? My statement wasn't about Lana, it was about mitski, one artist's talent doesn't neglect anothers
