I use the first pare you showed when I don’t need to do a deep dive into the hive. If I’m Queen hunting and evaluating, I use the Blue Nitrile gloves. I’ve only been stung once and just pull up around the stinger to remove it quickly. I would rather take a sting than drop a frame. Another great video Doc.
I'm going to order your tactical style gloves off of your link. After a year, I am still too new of a beekeeper to handle bees without hand protection. I can probably get away it with my Italians during a honey flow, but my ferals? No way! They're so feisty that they will walk off with my wallet if accidentally drop my hive tool. They. Are. Not. To. Be. Trusted! LOL!
Hahahaha! They are not to be trusted! That gave me a good laugh! I know exactly what you're talking about! I'm glad to hear your going for Apis Tactical gloves. In fact they just sent me some new ones and they have one style with a mid-range cuff. Try that one out if you haven't already ordered. It gives you a little bit more protection than the ones you see me wearing.
Hey David, good thinking. Gloves do get really stiff, especially when they get sticky with honey. While I have used coconut oil, I don’t have any experience using mink oil. I would say use it as long as it doesn’t have an offensive odor to the bees😅🐝
Most of the time I go without gloves, makes me slow down. When I wear gloves, I use goat skin gloves. I do like the looks of the last pair of gloves you showed.

Nice job! Yeah, I hate dropping frames. Nothing makes me feel like a noob more than that😅

Do u recommend applying a mink oil type oil to the Apis Tactical glove leather part to keep in supple? Thx Hive Dr.
