It's amazing how a couple of minutes of wistful theme music can take you back 46 years, and evoke memories of that time. I also remember it from the "My World" series , part of the Schools and Colleges educational programmes shown on ITV. If you were off sick (or skiving) you got to see some wonderful series. 'Block-a-boots' anyone?!
The Free Life by Alan Parker if you are interested in the theme music
Ahh.. that Theme-tune.. funny how a long forgotten piece of music can take you right back through the tunnels of memory and out the other end into your youth. It really evocates the world of seventies popular telly culture.
Jeez you're so right about this theme tune.I seem to remember it was on in the afternoon as i used to watch it when i was off school.Great comment!
+lobster dunski Exactly as I did! I remember this like it was yesterday. What warm memories it brings back. Crown Court, Country Kitchen, or whatever, and this. Off school with a cold etc, on the sofa sucking cough sweets, and watching this. :)
+lobster dunski Me too!!
This piece of music was also used on a schools TV series called 'My World' - produced by Yorkshire TV and broadcast during the school day from the mid-1970s. Moody & Pegg used the same tune, but was shown in the early evening. A lovely piece of music which instantly took me back to summer 1974 ...
That's it!
I knew it was something else that was tapping gently at the windows on my childhood house of memory. 'My World'!
When I was a kid watching this I thought she was absolutley gorgeous !.
Me too. She was.
She wore French knickers in an episode shown one afternoon in the 1970s, and you could see everything up one of the legs. I was pleasantly surprised, but also shocked as it was daytime.
Now, THAT I would have loved to have seen,lol.@@barrymitchell6444
Yeah, I was amazed when I found out that it was her, I didn`t recognize her al all !@catscan2022
And I loved the music !@@Khayyam-vg9fw
My word, wasn't Judy an absolute stunner then. Edit...Those plates shes's clearing away are Pyrex. Mum had exactly the same design back in the 70s!
Judy Cornell played Daisy in Keeping Up Appearances. George played by the late Peter Denyer. Who played Dennis from Please Sir.
I remember when I was a boy, my mum and dad watching this. Great memories.
I was very young when this was on but its stayed with me for over 40 years. Curious.
Still love the theme tune.
I was 13 when this was on
Same here
Judy Cornwell was really wonderful
It looks a gem. As a teenager at the time though, it didn't float my boat.
I was only four and Play School age at the time and never heard of Moody and Pegg. Daisy looks unrecognisable in those days! The only thing I can remember is the theme tune to My World- schools programmes when I was off sick from school.
The fact so many of us fondly remember this fairly obscure show, proves it had something special. Judy Cornwell and Derek Waring were great (I didn't know Derek was married to actress Dorothy Tutin till her death in 2001 - he sadly died in 2007, aged 79.)
In 2019, Judy Cornwall is still going strong at 79 - of course her most high profile TV role was as lovable Daisy, sister of the formidable Hyacynth Bouquet, in Keeping Up Appearances.
I fondly recall that my Mum and I watched this (it was screened 1974 - 1975).
Does anyone out there have any full episodes to share here???
I don’t have any recordered episodes - sorry. But I do have such fond memories of this series. The seventies were something else - as each decade should be I suppose.
I bought the DVDs in 2011 but they seem to be out of print / only secondhand copies for sale.
I would have been just four to five back then and never heard of Moody and Pegg. But I remember well the theme tune to My World. It is in the key of D major; my musical memory is very good and I have perfect pitch!
I used to bunk off school some afternoons to watch Judy Cornwall in "Moody and Pegg" with Derek Warring.
Use to love this programme as a child and loved the theme tune
I have never forgotten this great comedy, it was one of my favourites. The theme Music is also Brilliant. I can highly recommend it to any who likes Brit-coms from the 1970s . Great to see it on You Tube.
I used to love this. Wish I could see all the episodes again
Coming to Talking Pictures TV
@@malcolmhartley5031 Cheers Malcolm, I luved this series so funny and easy to follow also liked in the afternoons when off school ' Crown court n Emmerdale Farm ' when it was about farm life then and a Fab time to grow up sir .Kind regards Glynn n Greetings from Stourbridge West Midlands
Great theme tune. Written by Alan Parker and is actually a piece of library music from 'Themes International' which is now owned by KPM. Alan Parker wrote two variations and the music is called, 'The Free Life' (A) and (B). The music was also used as a theme to a TV program called, 'My World'.
Right KPM yeah.
Remember this programme very well
I've always seen Judy as Daisy till this proves she is a great actress
We in was 14 this was my favourite programme.
best tv soundtrack ever wish i could get it
It's on here. Search for The Free Life by Alan Parker.
@@CaptainSiCo Thank you.
love the theme music to this.brings back happy memories
Gosh!!!! I came across a small extract from a programme called “Moody and Pegg”🎭 No idea 🤷♀️ what’s it is all about, but I have had the theme tune going round my head for years ha! ha! 🙂
wow I remember watching this when I was really young . Dont remember much except the theme and that I liked the show
Don't just buy series one, buy both and make sure you only watch them in order.
The final scene of all, (Series 2, Episode 6, "The Proposal"), in the hotel room and going out onto the balcony is one of the most delicately played, moving and touching scenes in the history of television, although she is far too hard on herself in it.
Fabulous acting that really grabs the audience and makes them care. BTW, The waiter is a hoot
I'm so glad it ended how it did. My take on it was that the man who most deserved her got her, as he should have all along.
Yes... she was a real beauty and worth it all. I'd have married her... no trouble.
Agree 100%. It's a tragedy this great series is now largely forgotten and even though it got huge viewing figures, it has not been repeated since 1976. The episode Daphne: The Primitive is one of the greatest hours of British comedy drama. It's a masterclass in great acting. As for Judy Cornwell - wow!
We never saw this series in the U.S. (that I'm aware of), so like some of the other comments, I only knew Judy Cornwell from "Keeping Up Appearances." Cool to see her here! Thanks for posting.
Daisy!
Thats the 1970s, reminds of childhood
Whoo Hoo here it is at last ...now then, if only we can have Spring and Autumn with Jimmy Jewel and Beryls lot BBC TV series 1973-1977 ... 'Beryl's Lot' starred Carmel McSharry as Beryl Humphries,
I loved her in Keeping Up Appearances but WOW I did not know she was skinny at one time. Why all the weight gain? Don't matter she looks good now too.Big or skinny she is so pretty. But I never saw her has a skinny girl.So used to her being a BIG woman.Amazing.
Did you know she is also a talented fiction writer?
Oh nice..
I never knew that that was her in KUA, and to think that I thought she was hot in MAP,lol.
The great Peter Denyer was in this too. Rest in peace Peter, gone way too soon.
I don’t remember this but I remember the music, strange.🤔
Will you ever be releasing the 1970 Roy Clarke comedy: The Misfit. I loved that as a child. Sad but funny. Ronald Fraser was a delight in that role.
Cornwell was beautiful in 1970s.. i'd never recognise her if sb didin't tell me it's her!!
@curat8 Sam and South riding is already out I have them. I Think I have Country Matters.
Before she married Onslow
no canned laughter?
Show was rubbish, but she was hot! Used to see her in Waitrose in Brighton in the 90s!
In an age where people of the opposite sex living together with stil a bit frowned at
What a deeply unpleasant little man. Eugh.
Poor.
Terrible who the hell watched this?
Thank god for on the buses
ajay999999 I loved it
Did they use this music in a 'Country File' type program in the 70s?
