    Remember my old Mum joining a Christmas Club in the 1970's , saving up for a Turkey , presents for my Sister and Me , going shopping and buying 3 days of food , sometimes 4 if Christmas was on a weekend . The milk man coming round at 1 on Christmas morning to deliver milk , AND it snowed , sometimes . Morcombe and Wise Christmas show , the Great Escape or the Italian job on tele in the afternoon , the smell of Dads cigars . Happy Days

    That's when Christmases were proper Christmases, I was only 13 then but remember my mam baking well in advance, there was never any shortage of food even when there was no supermarkets like there is now. And one of your bigest things was what was the Christmas number one. Such happy times, wish Christmases were like that now .

      I remember Spike Milligan back in those days (1970s) complaining how awful Christmas were compared to back in the 50s. And back in the 50s people probably complained that Christmas was better in the 30s....and so on back into history. It was always better 30 years ago.

    Love this show. Got both the original and the follow up series, Till Death, and In Sickness and in Health. These are the days when comedy was brilliant. Freedom of speech at its best. Alf would have a pop at anyone and everyone. These days of political correctness are bloody boring. You can't say this, and you can't say that, because you are bound to upset someone. Unless of course, if you happen to be black, or any other colour of skin, or gay, or trans, religious, etc, . Freedom of speech is still there! But not if you are a straight white person. And that's a fact! ..... Unfortunately, people don't get that the joke was on him for being so ignorant about things.

    • @rmstitanic8163
      @rmstitanic8163 Год назад

      @The Burbles Thank you. Nice to know that there are still people around that that think the same. It is true. Life has become a mixed up world of two faced, bullshitters. The amount of things you can see on TV or screen (in the eyes of the so called modern person), is fine. Nudity, gay sex, racist black people, trans genders, etc etc etc. But put some real comedy on from the past, and it is bleeped, or cut to pieces, as though it is so bad. What a hypocritical world it is we live in. Fake! A good example! A certain queue jumper who came out live on his morning show. He had been married to a woman for years and has two daughters. Every one on his show gave him a pat on the back and hugs, and saying how brave he was. Had he said, I've been married all this time and have two daughters, and fancy another woman. Everyone would have jumped on him and his name would be dirt. But because he fancies other men, he is a hero. What a load of bollocks. Bring back the old days, when freedom of speech was real, and people were honest about what they really thought.

    I love how she's saying about how it wasn't as good as the old days. Every generation always says it was better back in the olden days. The truth is, if we were transported back there now, we couldn't cope. We'd be reaching for non existent phones, internet and other modern tech. Looking back to the 70's when I was a kid, no thank you, I prefer my current lifestyle.

    • @teeteringonthebrink.305

      I think it's more to do with the fact we inevitably grow older and it's our youth that we actually miss. You mention todays technology and it's thanks to the internet that we are able to take a trip back in time, something previous generations didn't have.
      I do also think age and experience makes a person more cynical, depending how their life has panned out down the years.
